Best I could do....getting my daughter on the field for Homecoming....If that doesn't seal the deal for my future Hokie....I got nuthin'...

Considering he was thought to be UVA bound for so long, this in itself is a win. Now if only Stinespring, Shane, and the rest of the boys can reel him in.
You're welcome. I truly believe that the community is what makes this place great, so thank you to y'all. French and Mason have written what I consider to be the best X's and O's analysis of any VT site and have helped this offseason fly by.
Additionally, because of the tee shirt sales there will be a major server upgrade happening in July. I'm moving the site from a 3 GB / 2 core shared virtual server to a 16 GB / 4 core dedicated machine. That bitch is going to be blazing fast and will handle of the season traffic.
They run a 3-4, so they could have an all VA D-line without Hand.
One of the guys at Recruit757 said it was down to UVA, Alabama, and VT: https://twitter.com/JosephSmithJr1/status/350453870859792384.
Based on the title of this thread I thought it was about what game I had seen in person. The most recent was ODC-New Hampshire last year when Taylor Heinicke set the all time NCAA QB passing record for a single game. I can't find the whole game but there are highlights. If you like offense it was great. Except for a few critical stops defense wasn't so good.
Supposedly he made 2 phone calls last night to coaches in his final 4. That's all I can find right now
VT has a good financial situation but doesn't have a deep enough donor base to pay ridiculous salaries. Doesn't matter if you can still win. Winning has more to do with performance on the field. I'd like to see us beat them next time.
Satan is not making promises but is implying that he would get a lot of playing time (3 down). He doesn't guarantee it nor say what he would be doing. He might start on any team. Why not VT? If he wants to take it to the next level what is the best position to play? Doesn't matter since the NFL would take either position if you are good enough.
did he just eliminate us or something?
TKP AI decided your comment was so good we should see it twice.
I agree, plus I believe the parameters of the trade provide some insight into the Nuggets' motives. They trade a first round pick (Gobert), who they were most likely going to stash in Europe for a few years, for a graduating senior. You don't make that deal unless you believe EG can contribute sooner than Gobert (at a lower, non-guaranteed cost). When you've got a guy like Andre Miller on your roster, who has a LOT of miles on his tires, you need to plan for the future. Chris Coleman from TSL was making a huge stink last night on Twitter saying it is a bad place for EG to end up because of Lawson and Miller; Miller has a big contract (I believe he's due $5 Million for this season, $2 Million the following) and Lawson is a dynamic young(ish) PG who brings an incredible energy to the team. But in a league with inflated contracts that get thrown into deals to make dollars work - plus the value in expiring deals, which comes into play next season - it is by no means a death sentence for EG's rookie season.
Is it a strange notion that the Nugs may carry three PG's? Sure. But let's remember EG was a 2nd Round pick. No team drafts a PG in Round 2 expecting to slide them into the starting lineup. Shoot, CJ McCollum, one of the highest rated PG's in the draft went 10 to Portland to BACKUP the reigning Rookie of the Year. So EG goes to a squad with a dynamic starter and an aging, yet savvy veteran to learn from. I'd say that is a great place to be for a "tweener" who needs to hit the weight room and improve his defense. It provides him with a year to learn, and maybe some time in the D-League to get some PT. My guess is Andre Miller gets dealt within the next 15 months (before that deal expires) if EG shows the promise #HokieNation believes he has. I'm really proud of him, he has really come a long way.
Everyone is up in arms that the Nuggets already have two point guards in Ty Lawson (of UNC fame), and Andre Miller. While that is true, the thing that the Nuggets badly need right now are shooters who can hit open shots created for them by Lawson and Miller. They really only have one true shooter on their entire roster (and he starts at small forward).
This works for Green. Assuming he makes the roster, he could be a combo guard off the bench and excellent insurance policy should one of the two PGs ahead of him go down. On top of all of that, IF new coach Bryan Shaw (a former combo guard, by the way) tries to install the triangle offense...he was an assistant under Phil Jackson for years...shooters are even more important than usual.
I like this spot for him.
What was all that one in a million talk?
Sorry to say I'm not sold on all that thinking. It was obviously the case for men's basketball, but non-revenue sport players don't transfer very often. Their situations are a lot more complex because full scholarships aren't usually available to go around to everyone. Also, VT is #32 in revenue- ahead of about 20 total BCS level schools by my count, including UCLA, Cal, Missouri, Clemson, Colorado, Arizona, etc. The money is certainly there to hire at least some established coaches instead of promoting assistants. As you said, some of the situations have turned out well- and I'm absolutely glad they have- yet I still think it's incredibly clear that Weaver is no longer able to perform the duties necessary for an athletic director at an ACC school.
This. The baseball team is very close with each other. Coaches, players, managers and equipment people all are very close. Mason helped build this program and I believe is a very capable coach to fill Hughes's shoes. Who knows maybe Hughes recommended Mason to replace him.
2008 sun bowl anyone? that pitt vs oregon state game was beyond dreadful to watch http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/gametracker/recap/NCAAF_2008123... pitt couldnt manage a point despite having lesean mccoy on their team
They just got rid of their head coach though for no good reason. So who knows what's going to happen?
....Don't know why it commented twice. Any way I can delete the second one?
they play an up tempo fast paced offense i believe, so it should suit him pretty well, not sure about their depth. They love the jump shooters out there though so I think he'll be just fine
I appreciate it. Definitely don't want to be involved in any Satanic internet activity. Turkey leg for you.
While I think we are all frustrated to say the least, moves like these help to reduce player turnover for sure which could set programs back even further. Simply put Tech doesn't have the pockets of other schools and location is probably somewhat tougher to sell. Wrestling and women's soccer have turned out extremely well, here's to hoping baseball follows their lead and keeps up momentum Hughes built.
Press Conference from earlier today. I think it hits a lot of the questions a lot of us are asking. Mason does have a lot of Pete's qualities so hopefully this is one of those, like for likes instead of just another inside hire because we didn't think we could get anything else.
46th overall to the Nuggets. Don't know much about them so any fans/people with knowledge of their roster know what his chances are of sticking there?

+1 Bass Fishing metaphor!
