as far as the fame/infamy thing goes, i was gonna post that hernandez is much more famous today than he was a few days ago, but then a coworker gave me second thoughts.

my coworker: "hey that guy who got arrested, he's a running back right?"
me: "naw he played tight end"
coworker: "oh he's a tight end, but wasnt he real real short?"
me: "umm i'm not sure how tall he is but. . . oh wait you mean danny woodhead?"
coworker: "yeah woodhead that's it, you sure it wasnt him?"
me, loling: "pretty sure"

and the internet being the internet apparently hernandezing is a thing now:

Maybe so maybe no, but from now on, I will be saying it that way.

It's all about two things: 1. the tread on the tires. The younger a guy is the more years he can play for you. 2. They're more specifically worried about a senior whose number jump in one year.

I think he meant kids who have a huge surge in production their Senior year, they wonder if the season was a Fluke or if they actually improved. Kind of the inverse of Logan Thomas's Sophomore/Junior Seasons.

...am I the only one who (usually in his head) says "La Sab-waa" with a heavy french accent (...sounding like I have a mouth full of cheese) when they read the word "The Sabre" anywhere on this website?

He successfully tricked Jonathan Allen, who will languish as an end at Bama (or take 3 years to learn the Jack Linebacker position)

I loved that. The little UVA and Miami kids just got booed so hard... It was one of my favorite commercials.

remember when they would play the acc sportsmanship ads and when the little kid in the uva jersey came on screen we all booed him? classic.

A surprising comment, seems to me that a lot of basketball people (in the media at least) think it's a travesty that more kids don't hang around for their senior year. Why would you be wary of seniors in the first place? Don't you want guys who've played more ball than a 19 year old?

I love everything about this post. We can look at USC hiring Andy Enfield. Why couldn't we have gotten him? That would've made people excited about the basketball program.

But what's the point of saving money if you're not going to put it back into the olympic sports to make them grow. Weaver just scrooges the money from all the other sports to throw into football. This is the exact reason so many other schools see our athletics as a joke except for football. You have to spend money to make money. The argument seems to be that we don't have fans for these other sports. The reason there are no fans is because all our other sports are bad. Also, we never go out and get head coaches. We just hire the assistant coach to take over, and bring in another nobody to be their assistant, and the train just continues. We show our recruits how nice our facilities are, but facilities won't make the players any better if there aren't great coaches in there teaching them. Rant over.

Recruit Nnadi as a QB! Give him the rock and stand back.

Great question......Match, meet gas tank:
I think in the court of public opinion Michael Vick will STILL have the worse public perception issue in the mind of society at large, even if/when Hernandez is found guilty of shooting the fellow......and I think it's a poor reflection of our world.
Not being a Vick apologist, but there is a cultural aspect here to dog-fighting (as I just drove by the dog track at DelRay Beach, Fla) that is encouraged, accepted, while it is obviously considered wrong in our society; 'anyone that would hurt an animal is evil,' but yet some view animals as tools to be used at our own discretion....
But I find it simply duplicitous to villify Vick while giving someone like Hernandez less consideration, but I am sure that is what will happen.
I was talking with a fellow Hokie about Vick with the Eagles, and a lady said 'Oh, that Michael Vick is horrible....I'm an animal lover.' To which I replied, 'I'm a PEOPLE lover.......'

If you are Weaver you have to try and retain him, Hughes was everything you want in a baseball coach through and through. When Oklahoma makes that offer you match it and if at the end of the day he leaves because that's where he wants to be so be it, but I highly doubt he would leave Blacksburg if offered the same salary. Just when I was starting to get excited about VT Baseball.

...except one of the main reasons MD lost so much money was because of the football stadium expansion/renovation. They spent too much (and didn't need it in the first place) and couldn't fill it up.
