Same thing happened to me for Nebraska/VT. I live in NYC. And that was the ONLY game that Saturday featuring two ranked teams. THE ONLY ONE!! Look it up... unbelievably it's true. I also watched on justin.tv. Else I would have missed one of the most classic VT games of my era.

Maybe I'm missing something, but Alabama doesn't list an undergraduate sports management program. There's a grad program, but not undergrad. I'm assuming they're selling him on the possibility of getting into the grad program if he stays for his full eligibility? That seems like a lot of "ifs" between now and then, and it also seems shady that they'd be able to start talking graduate programs with him. Or maybe they just get a pass since they're Alabama.
In any case, this is definitely disappointing. He seemed really high on VT for a long time. I will temper my disappointment with genuine well wishes to him. He's a talented kid. Recruiting is a complex game, and you're competing for the hearts of high schoolers, after all...

I'd agree to a point. Let's not forget, though, that we aren't competing with the rest of the ACC for football games on TV, we're competing with the rest of the country. VT/FSU might get a national broadcast on ESPN, but we're still fairly unlikely to get that game in prime time on ESPN. Even if we did, we'd probably get pummeled in the ratings by another prime time game. When we played against Nebraska in Blacksburg, I couldn't watch the game on TV here in PA. ESPN3 was blacked out. I had to use something called justin.tv to watch it. Thank god for that. And that was NEBRASKA/VT.
This sucks, although is somewhat ironic. People thought that we were on the outside with Brown but it turns out he likes us because we offer the degree he's looking out and the opposite comes true for Hand. I don't blame him for not wanting to pursue engineering, but sports management is a pretty far jump. I wonder it other factors are at play.
