"Gold jacket, green jacket, who gives a shit?"

I'm not really sure what the coaching staff's logic behind it is, but I'm personally a fan of setting the rotation up where the pitchers are most comfortable. Mantiply has consistently performed well as a Saturday starter, and Markey has good enough stuff to compete as the Friday night guy.

Is there a reason why mantiply still isn't pitching on Friday nights? I'm assuming it's because of him coming off of an injury but he seems to be fully healthy and has been their best starter during ACC play.

Having been on that situation, there is still room for the corps to grow and I think if they built a safety net type building it would help. Cadets aren't the only ones who live on upper quad so it could host regular students when the corps isn't over the building limit.
Plus the cadet lifestyle doesn't adhere to normal dorm layouts. Having to triple people often causes problems. Honestly I'm just glad I was in when I was in and don't have to worry about it other than watch it being built.

Whether it be football, baseball, chinese checkers or average starting salary its always great to beat uva. Great weekend Hokies: baseball and softball.

I agree and I think there will still be some room behind the building just as there is currently room right now behind the construction zone. But remember, since 2009, that area has been occupied with construction equipment. After this year, there won't be anybody but Super Seniors and grad students that remember playing sports on Dietrick lawn.

After expecting at most one win from the series, it was nice to see two. I think they take the next two acc series and finish strong with the ooc as well.

Call me old school but that field between AJ and Pritchard was prime real estate for pick up football games Freshman year. Would hate to see one of the few slivers of grass not on the drill field go away. Although it does make perfect sense for the proposed application.

I hate WV but those unis are dope. clean design, nicely updated. I wish VT could have something that good. But alas...they probably will go with a cartoon hokie again.

I'd be shocked if Davis lasts longer than Tweedy. Tweedy is a huge UFA grab, because of his special teams ability. Davis may not even make the final roster due to his anti-maturity. UFAs have to have a blue collar mentality to earn respect and make the team, which is the anti-Davis.

From my vantage point midway up the East Stands the last few years, it's very easy to tell that there are hundreds (if not thousands) of people still milling around outside the gates (not necessarily even trying to get in) when Sandman is pumping. The stands become noticeably more crowded by the end of the first quarter, then empty out by halftime. Sad.

I know a lot of people knock the student section here (and for the record I HATE those fucking paper airplanes), but I haven't seen anyone get to games late. Maybe I'm just always too drunk to notice, but in my 5 years my friends and I have never missed Enter Sandman.

As far as complaints about leaving the game early and spending more time taking pictures than watching football, I've seen that, and it disgusts me.

To quote (incorrectly) Michael steele...
Build Baby Build!
I see nothing wrong with building new and better infrastructure. As long as we don't get into a debt hole, keep it coming. And wrap everything in Hokie stone!

Just an update, Andrew Rash has been named ACC Player of the Week!

My problem with our uniforms over the last years has been we have no identity (although one could argue the lack of identity is an identity...but I digress). I have no problem with us being Penn State (same uniforms for the last 500 years) or Oregon (changing after every quarter)…but not both. We should decide if we want to be cutting edge and let Nike go wild or say we’re old school and go to the Vick style (or even the throwbacks we’ve “kinda” been using the last few years). For God’s sake, WVU has become a bigger brand than VT…W.V.U…let that sink in…

Completely agree with you. I am a Undergraduate Alum who immediately continued on for Grad school and my season tickets for Football have been pushed further and further away from the field. I have never received tickets in North End Zone, and after getting to my seats for the first game this season to find that I was SECOND ROW FROM THE TOP of East stands, I flipped my ish. I also was only able to win season tickets for basketball my sophomore year. Loyalty doesn't amount to anything with our athletic department.

There are no more dining halls being built currently. Turner's Place was necessary as commuters are buying more and more meal plans. Having that option reduces the stress on places like West End and Owen's and allows easy access to food for commuters on that side of campus. A new student center has been in discussion for a little while. The idea I heard was to put it on the lawn between East AJ and Pritchard so it would be right in the middle of the residential side of campus. Squires would then be mostly handed over to the Music Department since they use most of the space already.

You could make it so its only for the sport you desire to go to, and they would roll over from year to year. So the Seniors would have better loyalty racked up if they went to games their previous years (in basketball's case). You could also do something similar with football.

Too slow on the parking. Please stop building dinning halls. What about the student center and library?

I wonder if the Giants are going to give him that chance to develop? Tweedy might have a better chance to stick because he could be an immediate impact on special teams, and perhaps grow into a backup safety down the road. NFL GMs seem to favor a prospect that can contribute to the team right away, even in a minimal way, and grow into a player down the road.

Either way, best of luck to all the Hokies getting a shot in the NFL.

The building replacing Upper Quad will house the entire corps (>1000 people now) which is an improvement from the current size.

Also, a parking garage is planned for the Cage. After being there at Spring Game, I saw where they have built the Cold Water Facility (I think that's what it is) that provides cool air to all of campus and are working on a new agricultural building of some sort. The Cage will soon have a garage. Crazy to think that just about 6 years ago, there were no parking garages in all of Blacksburg and now there are 4, eventually 5 or more.
