French,
Back on NSD, it looked like you were going to write up a Signee Profile on each of the new Hokies. The Bucky Hodges and Cequan Jefferson posts were excellent, do you still plan on writing up the others?
It's understandable if time constraints prohibit this, but many of us would be happy to read more Signee Profiles, however brief they are.
very true...it honestly is great to cycle in a new wave of season ticket holders. Hopefully they are younger and can stand up and get rowdy during the game.
Wow! That seems agressive. Not that I think we'll be that good, but rather our defense IS that good. I actually don't see Bama scoring 22 points. In fact this the kind of game I would put the over/under around 30 and take the under. Defensive smash mouth football...ahhh. Is it August yet?
So uh,
5Dimes opens Alabama -22 vs. Virginia Tech on Aug. 31. (h/t @jimmysingh9)— Beyond the Bets (@beyondthebets) April 30, 2013
i mean the fact that the schedule is nothing to write home about coupled with the fact that money is kinda tight right now could be a significant turnoff for a lot of people, we're still gonna sell out every game 900 people is not as much as it might seem those tickets will vanish fast especially once we #beatbama
I mean 900 may seem like a lot of people, but relatively it is only about 1.4% of the stadium seating. I'm sure those seats will be filled by others in line trying to buy season tickets.
Lllloooove-it.
There was also another tweet (Don't know how to embed) but it shows Saban and Beamer talking about preparations for the game August 31st. I hope that interview gets posted soon!
I somewhat agree with you. I think a great majority of people are just lazy and want to drive. I graduated in 2011 and lived in Pheasant Run for 3 years and almost never drove to campus. I either bussed it or when I lived closer to campus walked. It may be worse for buses now, but i can't see it being that much worse.
Watch him close, Frank. He's short enough to anchor a 34" putter and I wouldn't put it past him to try.
Did they give out rings for their spring game win too? (UNC Campus Championship 2013) At least there was no controversy about who won...
A picture of that would be kind of awesome, not sure many of us have seen it.
What drills would a QB practice to improve defense reading and improve his receiver progressions? Defense reading seems like a film study recognition, while receiver progressions seem like a difficult-to-simulate scrimmage scenario. Is this what 7-on-7 is designed to practice?
Honestly it is a convenience thing, but I'm also speaking from a staff standpoint as well. Living in foxridge, I do have bus stops outside my door and for the most part will take the bus; I did for my super senior semester as well as occasionally now to save on gas/parking passes. But for the most part, at the end of the day when I just want to get home, I can either go out to the parking lot and get home in 10 mins or less; or, have to walk 10 mins across campus then take another 15-25 mins depending whether a bus is there or not and then I'm the last stop.
Being in the corps my first four years on campus, I walked everywhere and only used my car to go to cburg, but looking back on it now, the smart way to do it, is instead of paying for a parking pass, leave your car somewhere that doesn't tow and take the bus. That is a couple hundred bucks a semester saved, as well as gas, etc.
So random thought...assuming we do enter sandman per usual, I'm assuming bama will get its traditional playing of Dixie land delight before the 4th quarter? I'm excited for this, especially if the game isn't going well

# | File this under "HUNHH?" ACC games in London??!! (England, not Kentucky, folks) That'd be a niner on the wrong coast... really makes it difficult to have a good pre-game buzz!
This is so #goacc. A divisional championship ring with "8-4" on the side. It's like being the coolest guy at UVA. You are still a douche.
Admitedly, I am a work in progress on the passing game. Your analysis is excellent on the "quick pass"/3 step drop to Stanford. However, the wildcard in the discussion is Clarke in the short zone. Bud Foster designs defenses to make that slant LOOK available because he is showing man coverage, and then the linebacker underneath in the zone drops into the zone. It is a different version of the robber concept we discussed this past summer. When Logan looks at that slant, he has to see Clarke. Only an elite arm and Clarke's hesitancy prevented that from being an INT. Hopefully, Bryn Renner and AJ McCarron will make the same mistake and not have the arm strength to overcome it.
I can't disagree with you on the 2nd pick because I couldn't see the coverage downfield. My concern with the throw was Riley being in such close proximity with two underneath defenders available to take care of an underthrow. Riley made one hell of a play (he had a terrific all around game and would be my opening day starter if Exum is hurt.)
Hopefully, we'll all be like this come September 1, as well. Side note: the guy in the middle was totally me during the entirety of the GT game this past season, and it'll probably be me during the entirety of the Bama game too. Completely sober and all.
The defense ran their basic alignment, rushing no more than 4 players, except inside the 8 and I believe on 3rd downs. Double check hokiesports.
I've actually found that TSL and TKP/French compliment each other perfectly. I get 3 or 4 different views of things from people with different strengths/expertise but all are pretty knowledgeable when it comes to football. I don't think I'll be dropping my TSL subscription any time soon, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the heck outta the discussion here at TKP.
I might be delusional, but didn't we get division champ rings every time we won? I thought I remembered players showing off division champ, acc champ, then bowl rings in the same year.
I feel like that is the most hilarious golf twosome in college football. Mix the "oh geez, that putt'll get after ya" with the tirade of expletives that will fly out of Saban's mouth and you have the makings of a sitcom.

Good point, although I'm not so sure that it can be "learned". I think it's something you are born with kind of like being a leader. Sure you can "learn", but you can always tell the person who naturally was gifted and refined it vs. someone who learned it along the way. I think this is a skill set that Foster possesses as well, which is why it still befuddles me that he hasn't gotten a shot at being an HC yet.
