I was thinking the same thing - having someone who succeeded under Grimes very recently is going to be a great thing for these guys IMO. While I don't think Grimes will have any trouble getting through to the O-line, having Pugh as more of a peer will help immensely. And he can always bust out his National Championship ring and go "See this? Yeah, this guy right here helped me get it."
I want David Wang to prove me wrong and impress the hell out of me his time left at Tech.
You know you're a Hokie if you come into every season expecting the defense to be number 1 in the country.
The hokie bird is at your wedding, the service at the war memorial chapel, reception in squires, and photos around campus.
You plan your wedding around the football schedule
You remember events and dates based upon football games
You get tailgated for 5 miles to work after moving 3 time zones away from Blacksburg because another Hokie finally found another fan in their area (also applies if the tailgater was you)
I really think this list as of now needs to be taken with a grain of salt. It seems to be solely based off of last year. I imagine players like Caleb and Ekanem will appear on the list once spring ball kicks into gear, and Edmunds will separate himself from the rest of the 2nd string.
Signs you've married the right woman.
I know I am a Hokies because I obsesses over the football program 365 days a year.
I get sad when football is over and immediately begins counting down to spring game just so I can see the football team in action again.
I get giddy whenever I see Bud Foster on TV because I met him in person!
I wear VT pajamas to bed without fail.
And I am hoping to transfer to Virginia Tech when I am done at New River Community College!
I assume the raw thoughts come from lack of consistency in game, but I'm not a scout and I haven't been to see these guys play. Highlight films never tend to show me the bad plays a player makes. Highlight films do show me that when they're playing with confidence and making good decisions, these guys are probably as good as anybody we have on the team. If either Clark or Emelogu (or both) can be key contributors this year, this team will be set up well for the future. Here's hoping next season is better than this past one.
That's the perfect mindset to have as any coach, new or not. Gives the young guys motivation to prove themselves and makes sure the older guys don't get complacent and acting like they've got their starting spots locked up.
I was hoping that the Pats would have picked up Hosley to help out in the secondary but that didn't happen.. praying that Exum gets drafted by them next year
You call out other teams for "stealing" Enter Sandman when they play it, regardless of when.
You're willing to sneak into construction sites on campus to grab the perfect piece of Hokiestone for your desk or doorway.
You think 45 degree weather sounds like a tropical utopia.
My take is that the new coaches are very serious and excited but realistic.
It must have been used to treadmills and not the grass inside Scott Stadium.
Following up. You actually have something signed by CFB.
That horse went to Virginia Tech
It's pretty ridiculous that at EVERY position on offense comes with SEVERAL question marks. Seriously, look at the starters and find one that we know will be a solid contributor, no questions asked. This makes me sad.
upvote for the tat, that is true commitment good sir.
i've always told my wife if we ever move to nova, we're lookin up sean glennon to talk interest rates. she said, and i quote, "yeah but he'd probably drop the paperwork when he was handing it to us." i love my wife.
Keep in mind, it's a fluid depth chart. Here's a good interview with Shane where he basically said J.C. is going to start out at the top spot, because that's where he finished last year. http://www.buzzsprout.com/5134/83734-shane-beamer-3-26-mp3
I am *really* excited about Pugh being here working with Miller. Miller will be responsible for all the new line calls, and having someone familiar with Grimes' system will only making the transition smoother.
Also who here is excited about Ryan Pugh? maybe he'll add a little extra grit to our offensive line

Sweet tits I'm excited for the next four weeks.
