I expect their offense to be even better next year at the skilled positions. McCarron is a beast of a quarterback, some of the throws he makes leave me speechless. As most people know Amari Cooper might be the best receiver in the country going into next year, and Yeldon was every bit as good as Lacy. Saban is kinda like Foster on defense, he doesn't rebuild, he reloads. So it doesn't matter who they lose on defense, I expect them to be one of the top 5 in the country again. We're gonna have to win this one on special teams I think, remember how much we were dominated the whole game last time and were still winning in the 4th quarter? That's because of how unbelievable Dyrell was that game. We don't have a Johnny Manziel, we're not going to be able to just straight up beat them like he did, we're going to need to win the special teams battle. Hopefully Frank has already started working on that.

Just means he's in closer proximity to the volleyball players. Go get 'em, Vincent.

That was Ryan Williams and he punted returning punts. I didn't blame him for feeling that way.

The last time Tech had a player playing two ways was Macho Harris. He volunteered to play as a wide receiver to help out (mixed success) in addition to being a defensive back (I can't recall his actual position), and handling kickoff/punt returns.

Last season, the words was Trey Edmunds may see some spot duty on defense and play mostly on the offense. I doubt they will do that now since the saga with Drew Harris makes him less likely to enroll at Tech in June, and Drew will be a bit behind the curve compared to Edmunds.

Saban will be prepared for the offense. Tech isn't going to be running anything that he wouldn't normally prepare his defense for in the offseason.

A lot of I formation runs, zone stretches and isolation plays. Things that his defense learns to defend from day one. Shot-gun pass plays, things that his defense learns to defend on day two.

Loeffler isn't going to be doing actual innovative stuff, just the tried and true and sound concepts we are all familiar with. When we #BEATBAMA it'll be because we out execute, not out think, them. Here's to winning the turnover battle.

It's just that good mobile quarterbacks generally aren't as accurate as pure pocket passers. Ever since Vick, some have said that we have relied on the "gimmick" of having a mobile quarterback to be successful.

What's wrong with a mobile QB? If he's used properly, he can be a real weapon. So long as he's coached properly and can make all the throws, I see no reason to limit the offense with a pocket passer instead of a scrambler.

To be fair, Glennon didn't spend a lot of time running.

Mostly getting hit on a blindside blitz he never saw coming.

Doesn't really matter, imo. Have you seen Yeldon play? He is the dude we need to worry about.

He is back at Virginia Tech taking Marketing classes, so unfortunately we are still playing the waiting game on that front.

He was high on Loeffler and wants that #beachflow that we apparently have at Tech. Plus, having Chung (an old teammate of his) as a connection and probably working to recruit him works in our favor.

VT QB model.

I thought Sean Glennon was a key litmus test. Our opportunity to throw off the crutches of the mobile QB (think Mary Lou Retton as Tiny Tim in Scrooged!).

But, alas, the OL (and Sean himself) kept that from happening.

Park's high school O-line looks terrible. So at least he's used to playing behind an awful O-line. That's if we don't fix that problem.

Sometimes I wonder if Mike is really that much better than Sean. Mike is getting all of the draft hype, but part of it is because he didn't spend his college career running for his life.

Hopefully in a few years, we'll be able to call him Kendall "made that empty trophy case" Fuller

Beamer on Kendall
"I think he needs to get his hands on the ball some. We’ll work with him as a return guy. And maybe even after he gets settled defensively maybe get a couple offensive packages or an offensive package he might get involved with."

Kendall going both ways here and there? Sounds interesting. I like that our new offense wants to be creative. Other than that we'll just have to wait and see how it pans out.

Also, I had a bad thought when I read the part about him returning. The last time we had a highly anticipated freshman return punts, he muffed his first try in the ga dome against bama. Hope that doesn't happen again.

He is also upset at Michigan now because they already signed a 2014 Qb. It'll be bama in the end

I think that's one of the hidden gems of the whole new hires thing. Saban, in all of his coaching glory, doesn't have any tape on what our 2013 offense will be. Bama won't know what to expect. Sure he can look at Auburn and Temple tape, but we're a different team with different players and skillsets. I 'm sure Saban and crew will be up to speed by halftime, but regardless, an advantage is an advantage and I'll take all the advantages we can get against the back to back natl champs.

I can see Holland Fisher and Andrew Motuapuaka being a nasty headhunter defensive players. Motuapuaka reminds me so much of Troy Pomanlau of Pittsburgh Steelers, not just because of his flowing hairs, but his instinct and nose for the ball.

Both players bring a nastiness to the defense.

It's hard not to get really excited about seeing Bud Foster's defense being returned to the top 10 in total defense next fall. Alabama is a great way to knock the jittery out and get down to business.

I can't wait for the spring and summer camp. It's going to be entertaining.

One more note: Carlis Parker and Bucky Hodges will be locked in a battle for the #1 and #2 spots when Logan Thomas leave.

And he was protected by a Curt Newsome o-line. Sorry I'm not sorry.

if he had proper tutelage. But his QB coach for his last 3 years was Mike O'Cain.
