I really hope they keep the matte and stripes for next year. this helmet is pretty sharp
The QB coach must be a stellar teacher, calm, with longitudinal perspective. The new OL coach must be a ball busting tyrant, with attention to detail and a stickler for basic fundamentals.
UVA 2012 anyone?
Regarding 1 playcaller, the OC needs to be up top, and the QB coach needs to be on the sidelines to actually help the QB make adjustments. Absurd system. If O'Cain was going to be the playcaller, then they needed to hire a QB coach to work with Logan or assign a coach to him during the game. Newsome had the OL, Sherman had the WR, Beamer had the backs. Hearing something on the headset and having it diagramed are two completely different things.
O'Cain and Stinespring sit up in the box so they can "read the defense and make adjustments" which sounds like a good strategy, but they haven't followed through too much.
I think most people will agree with you that he shouldn't be the RB coach, but we also really want to keep him on the staff somewhere.
I'm also not sure if Shane was necessarily in control of what back was in at a certain time, but correct me if I'm wrong.
I also think the OC should be on the sideline with the players like Bud is so he can talk to all of them face to face.
^This, or Duke 2011
I say have Shane take over Special Teams. Get a WR Coach, a RB Coach, a OL Coach, and QB/OC. Makes sense that the person who designs the plays is the play caller, and that the play caller works directly with the QB, who runs the offense on the field. Also makes sense to have only one play caller.
I personally loved this game. We got a big win and the offense performed absolutely terrible. If this isn't enough to get rid of Stinespring and O'cain, I don't know what is.
He likely won't get drafted. But if he chooses to he can try out for multiple teams and would likely get on a practice squad somewhere. From there he may be able to work his way onto a team.
I wish him and all the seniors nothing but the best. They protected the winning season and got us that bowl win. I think we all saw those seniors step up in the later games this year.
Let's just hope nobody unexpected leaves....
Don't understand why Elliott would make that move, but I really really really really really hope you're right. I think he'd be my number one choice of any current offensive coordinator.
Unless he's leaving before being fired?
You don't go to Purdue for a lateral move from VT, and no way is Sherman going to be an OC. Even if Purdue had a tenured cach, you don't leave VT and Beamers stability for Purdue. You certainly don't do it with a brand new coach.
His RB "system" was a big or bigger joke than the rest if the O. He couldn't decide on a back. Stuck took long with Holmes. Kept taking the hot ham out and inserting cold or poor situation guys. Just because he's Frank's son doesn't give him a pass (IMO). His recruiting looks good. But that's also what we say about Stiney. We're setting a double standard.
4 yards rushing? Really?
Sherman had been the lone bright spot over the yeasr for this offense. Look at who he has developed and put in the pros. I'll give you this year was odd. But he was a firey coach who would show some emotion (unlike ever other O coach). Also heard (from a very credible source) his wife loves the area and doesn't want to leave. Guessing if he goes it will be because the new OC doesn't want him. Don't think he would go on his own.
This should be our uni combination for next year. Add white roadies and all maroon for big games.
I am a fan of this helmet for sure
Hopefully signs of more to come.....
I wondered the same thing.....
14-3 VT in the freezing cold where neither offense did a damn thing.
This game was difficult to watch on the offensive side of the ball. The D brought it tonight though. Good karma payed off for Exum, I hope he comes back next year.
I guess its kind of a moot point since we got the win anyways, but can someone explain to me why that flag got picked up on Rutgers' recovered fumble TD? Watching it in real time, it looked like they came across early (possibly why the snap was bad). Obviously one of the refs agreed with me because a flag was thrown. I never saw a replay or heard an explanation for why that flagged was picked up. Felt like it kinda got swept under the rug.

I love these helmets. I think it would look better with a smaller Gobbler that was a little less glossy as well. But still, fantastic.
