They actually sell out their stadium. Granted, it only seats ~20k, but a quick Wikipedia search shows that in 2009, 2011 and 2012 (the only seasons available on Wikipedia) they sold out every home game they played.

They are actually pretty good, having finished 2nd in the CAA (arguably the SEC of 1-AA) last year before finishing 1st in the standings this year (technically they are not the CAA champions, as the CAA bylaws prohibit any departing program from winning the conference trophy). They were ranked in the top 10 from start to finish this past season. They might actually contend in C-USA within the next couple years.

Would love to have another season where nobody scores over 30 points on us, and we get a shutout or 2 as well.

I went to Annandale High in Fairfax County and you are right again, the 757 has produced more top shelf talent than NOVA or the Richmond area over the past few decades. But all 3 areas are good producers of talent and NOVA is pretty close to the 757 with Richmond not too far behind them, IMO.

I agree. Especially if NFL teams draft like they did last year. With the success of the rookie QBs this season, they may be looking for someone who can start right away in the first few rounds, versus someone they know will need a couple years to develop into an NFL starter. Even Russell Wilson went mid round 3 last year.

"Also, as a UVA student and as an alum, me and my fellow Wahoos watch football on ESPN while tailgating on the Reg. We also trash Hokie supporters like you on the Reg. Hence we are better than you... on the Reg."

"Go back to Virginia Tech, no one appreciates your point of view here."

"If I were a recruit, I'd attend the school that would give me a better education and didn't smell like a pig farm"

hahaha yea they are. All the Hoos were mad at him, which really means they were mad at themselves for not being like us. I love how he said "there was a mass of hugging and tackling" after the Danny Coale play. Very true - I was hugging everybody within ten feet of me. And my boy Phil got a shot out as the orange and maroon Leonidas!

This was just a pic I grabbed off the web...I actually had a vintage 1950's game that I found in my grandma's attic, it had generic teams although I guess the old green could have been the Pack...

Cam Cameron for OC, Todd Washington for OL coach....all we need is a good WR coach (one who can drive it into the heads of receivers that they get the job by blocking downfield), move Steiny to TE's only. Ah, it would be a great Christmas gift to Hokie nation.

The only way I'm staying if I'm LT is if Beamer brings in a QB coach like Fridge who can actually develop NFL talent. If not, he'll be better off going to the NFL now and letting those guys work on him. He may actually continue to get worse if he stays in Blacksburg with O'Cain and Stinespring.

The allure of playing for a local D1-A school that plays Tech and UVA occasionally, even only in C-USA, might be enough to keep some of those kids in the 757, which is arguably the best area in the state for high-school football. Assuming that 2012 is the exception and not a new norm, we should still get our fair share of talent from the region, but our fair share just got slightly smaller.

(Full disclosure: I went to Hampton High, graduating the same time as Tyrod, so I may have a bit of a biased view on the talent level in the area :P)

I really had my doubts about moving Exum to corner but I thought he was fantastic in the second half of year. I love his size and speed and I think he could shut down his half of the field next year.

If Kendall lives up to the hype we will have some great depth and talent in the secondary. Let's have a top 10 D next year, ok?

in nickel packages, i could definitely see this and as well as our defense played against clemson this season (short fields withstanding) .. they'll have a hard time with that group on the field. in normal packages though, i could see rvd in as whip ... one of you guys mentioned on twitter the prospect in nickel of tariq at mike, rvd at backer, and kyle fuller at whip with exum, bonner, jarrett, and the younger guys << that would kick ass. i wouldn't be surprised if kendall fuller gets more playing time next season that any of the other non-starters.

If my 2012 trailer was any indication, I was very high on DJ Clutch before this season. I really hope he is 100% his final year at VT as he would be a real weapon on our struggling offense.
