But TT got plenty of playing time, even starting a few games, as a true freshman. Our coaches will play whichever player they feel is the best bet for our team first, and worry about getting the younger players some experience in situations where it makes sense.

If the coaching staff trusts a RS FR to start they will but the last RS FR to start for Beamer was MV7 and I think we would all agree that neither Parker nor Bucky is that kind of talent. But really, who knows at this point?

There would be no point in starting Leal his senior year. There's no reason to start a quarterback for a single season just to see him leave the following year. I think the coaches start Bucky (or Carlis) as soon as Logan leaves so they get the experience.

Just a feeling, but I think LT leaves. Especially if there are possible changes in his position coach and offensive coordinator. It's a weak QB class this year and Logan has tremendous upside and will be a combine freak.

TT's first year was Glennon's second year starting

(Sorry, had to count it out to be sure)

Sean Glennon had also already started for a year or maybe even two (having a hard time remembering, I was in middle school).

Tyrod was the number 1 Dual Threat and he struggled to beat out Sean Glennon in the beginning of his career. It all depends on the development, which at this point, much like Recruiting rankings are all speculation.

My mistake, misread the closing line as including players who would be Juniors next year.

They don't matter too much. He may be the number 2 dual-threat QB in the country, but he has some work to do. If you've seen some of the recruiting forums on here, many people are talking about a hitch in his throwing that needs work and how Carlis Parker looks to be a better fit. Believe me, I was high on Bucky when we picked him up this Spring and I still think he's a very talented athlete, but he's got some work to do and he has to prove he can handle whatever offense we will be using when he gets here.

Yesterday was my first one. It was pretty cool. He's really friendly with everyone, when I showed up he was going around to individual tables and talking with everyone. He was asking kids if they had tickets and whether or not they were going. One guy said he couldn't go because he was having problems with his girlfriend and JJ offered to give them both tickets. He was like "I'll give you both tickets, and she'll have so much fun at the game that all of your relationship problems will be solved". Another thing that I liked was that he wasn't afraid to talk about the things the team hadn't done so well. He ended it with a Q&A session that he specifically said was open to questioning things from the WVU game. He treated every single question from students with dignity and respect, offering lengthy and detailed responses. Even questions as simple as "Can we expect to see Will Johnston play tonight?" got a few sentences in response.

Bucky will step in directly after Thomas. He's the number 2 dual-threat in the country, and his size alone is going to put him above Leal.

I don't think he would leave but I saw Donald Coles ranked in the top 200. Which is pretty surprising to me because he didn't play at all this year.

Reading about all these really talented guys most likely coming back is getting me very optimistic. Even without Hop in the middle it will still be a very talented D line again to go with the rest of the defense. Depending on what coaching changes happen I think it could be a huge bounce back year next year

...on Logan. Especially if MOC is gone, learning a new system his last year, while knowing that any system under Beamer will eventually devolve into some machination of a QB draw, you have to question why he would come back if he has a 1st/2nd round grade.

But, if he did come back, he has a chance to wipe the stink of 2012 off his record. I'm not sure how much that stink matters, it didn't matter to Ryan Tannehill after his awful 2011. Talent is what is drafted. And, as Kiper said, he's plenty talented.

Optimistically, maybe LT is able to use his decision as a means to draw a quality QB coach to the VT. Maybe it's indirect, maybe Beamer hires a guy who has success prepping NFL QB's in order to convince LT to stay.

I think a mobile version of the site would be fantastic. Let me give you some background on what drives it. The CMS is Drupal 6 with a good amount of custom code. Drupal is a popular open source project that's versatile because of the development community supporting it and all of it's parts are decoupled in a nice way. It has a steep learning curve, but after three years of playing with it, I have a decent understanding.

Last year I found a services module that provides an API via REST (among others) that would allow a developer to interface with basic site functionality. I had written the guts of an iPhone App, then got busy with spring ball, and when I came back the API and Titantium (a cross mobile development solution) had updated and broke a bunch of stuff.

During this offseason I want to get the site moved from Drupal 6 to 7 (which is going to take some work because I want to start with a fresh database then import content). Custom code along with the theme will have to be updated. During the upgrade I was planning on developing a mobile theme. Basically you visit the site on your mobile browser, it automatically serves up the mobile optimized styles and layout instead of the desktop version.

I think this would be a better solution over multiple Apps for a few reasons. It wouldn't have to be approved by Apple (Google wouldn't be a problem). There are no sponsorships or ads on the site now of any kind (yes, I lose money on the site), but there will be. It would be easier to use Google ads across the board since they support mobile and I'd only have to track revenue across one stream. HTML 5 is pretty powerful. There would be only one codebase to maintain, which means less time, more functionality, and a lower chances of things breaking.

I sincerely appreciate that you guys have offered to help. Also, it's evident people want mobile functionality. Does anyone here have experience with Drupal, CSS, HTML5, mobile theming, etc, or any other thoughts?

I want to start going to the chalk talks. How forthcoming is JJ? From what I've seen/heard, I imagine he's excited to talk to students about the team

I firmly believe that everyone will return next year. There were no standouts this season and having a solid season next year will really help increase the payday that some of these guys will be looking for down the road.

We obviously need to push the tempo to be at our best, but a few times during the game it seemed like we were just trying to get in half court sets. Do you guys think we were tired (2 day turnaround, that would be concerning) or did JJ call off the dogs to practice a style we aren't as comfortable with? Did anyone else notice this?
Edit:I guess I was just imagining things

Also, Erick Green can score at will. Can't give him enough praise

It may have been a bit of an attitude thing. Not so much that these guys felt like they had an easy blowout, but that they knew they were supposed to win easily. I was at the chalk talk at D2 yesterday, and Coach Johnson basically went through his scouting report on the other team. All things on that scouting report pointed to us scoring 100 points. The Delta Devils were supposed to be slow getting back in transition, a poor shooting team, and not great offensively on the whole, with the exception of Usher. I assumed this would mean that we could get lots of rebounds and defensive stops, and then play fast the whole game, and it seemed as if Johnson assumed this as well. He tried to play up the importance of this game and how this Mississippi Valley is better than their record, but ultimately sounded like he expected an easy blowout. He basically said something to the effect of "If we just stay relaxed and play our style of basketball, there's no reason we shouldn't win tonight". That's true. And I like the confidence, but if he told the team that, they probably thought they could just go through the motions and win easily.

When I write the Android version, I'll send you the code for you to move it to Windows while I work on moving it to iOS. If I run into trouble, I'll post something on the site as I'm sure many people would be willing to help. Getting it all together for one OS will be the most challenging part. Moving it to work on other platforms should be straightforward.

I agree. They are humorous sometimes, but mostly just break up the conversation and don't add any value. Think of it this way: there are few headings that actually summarize the post enough that you could determine whether you do or don't want to read the rest of the post.

Let me know if you need help with the app. We should do one for Windows Phone before the iPhone.
