I hope your buds are right, and that we hire a new OC who knows what he wants to do and how to get it done. Also an O-Line coach who will teach great technique, aggressiveness and simplicity to our guys. That would be my New Year's wish.

I would have thought we would have gotten it. Being in Atlanta, GT wouldn't be bringing anybody in, it would just be the same people that live there. If we were there, we would be bringing a lot of people to Atlanta, which would generate a lot more revenue. That's how I would have looked at it.

Many of my buddies believe that Stiney will be retained in some capacity (Line coach or recruiter), O'Cain will retire, and Newsome will be axed.

Moreover, Beamer would be able to trust The Fridge with his offense.
But, I just wonder if his age would be a liability in attracting players for VT?

I think Friedgen would be one of the best fits for replacement OC. Damn shame Maryland canned him right when he was turning the team around, but if we could pick him up it'd be a hell of a hire for us.

I don't think that any of the fired coaches would be a good pick up for Tech, I'm still hoping for the Fridge, or Tony Franklin.

Hence why once Malzahn left for Arkansas State, Auburn went down the tube rather rapidly offensively.

The first one that comes to mind is Gene Chizik. That would be ideal but also is very unrealistic because he's probably gonna find a head coaching job somewhere. I don't really know too much about those others that were fired.

I just view any bowl as badly-needed practice and experience for our team going into next year.

idk much abt some of the coaches being let go but are there any good offensive minds of these that we could pick up, or even be interested in getting if our offensive staff has some vacancies?

The only reason I think Clemson has a shot at a BCS game still is because about half of the top 14 is SEC schools and only 2 of those can make the BCS.

So I stand corrected, it would come down to Oklahoma and Clemson probably, but Oklahoma plays this week against TCU. So if they lose that then Clemson would have to be the next in line to get a BCS game.

Not in contention for Chick-fil-a b/c Clemson lost yesterday. Even if Clemson did win, GT would probably get the peach bowl bid b/c their in Atlanta, thus would probably "travel" better than VT would.

"That was the game Bud spoke up to Beamer about the Offense and Beamer famously yelled at him 'THIS IS MY TEAM BUD.'"

I have never heard this story before... Did this actually happen? Publicly?

According to a new CBS report, the ACC expanding to 16 teams would be unlikely, and UConn and Louisville are the favorites to replace Maryland.

ACC presidents could vote on a Maryland replacement as early as this week, but two league sources believe an expansion to 16 is unlikely at this time.

UConn and Louisville are the favorites for the league's future 14th team. Maryland's defection to the Big Ten leaves the ACC with 13 entering the 2013 season. The league feels well-prepared for realignment talk after dealing with the additions of Pitt and Syracuse just 14 months ago, according to a source.
