but I think he is a tick below Davis in "playmaker ability" but a tick above in dependability.

I forgot to mention Thomas Smith, who is coming in January I believe. At 6'3", 218 last year, he may have grown into an HBack already. I really liked what I saw from his videos last year, and considering he's an army kid who bounced around a bit, could be a very under the radar recruit. http://blogs.roanoke.com/andybittervirginiatechfootball/files/2012/02/2....

Northwestern, but if Devin Gardner is the one getting all the snaps at QB I think Michigan will cover. But Northwestern.

If you ain't first, you're last! That should be the ethos instilled in this team.

Best news of the night. He, like a select few other players has improved each week. But again, if this team mastered the fundamentals, they'd be in a lot better position to make things happen. In this case, not using the fundamentals on making a proper tackle almost led to a tragic injury.

Quick slant to Corey Fuller

I don't think it's just the line, but more the combination of everything: bad line, bad receivers, no playmakers. I think he feels like he has to do everything and is overthinking or overdoing it. I think going into a no/low hype year like next year will be the best thing for him. He has the tools, just needs to get comfortable and do it.

Sorry but I don't think the line is the only reason LT3 has been off. He's thrown so many bad passes this year when there's been little pressure. Missing wide open guys or just awful picks. His throwing technique has looked so off on occasions.

Also, is it just me, has Corey Fuller become a late round NFL receiver? He looks silky smooth with the ball in his hands and his hands have been impressive. I wish we had him back next year with DJ.

MD7 bobbled, but caught, the first long completion Logan threw his way. He's just completely lucky he didn't drop it.

The second long ball Logan threw Marcus's way, down the west sideline, was beautiful. Marcus just can't catch.

The third long ball he threw his way was 60 yards in the air, with Bjourn Werner on his waist. A 6'4" 225 lb receiver with an unwordly vertical makes that play.

WTF WAS THAT FUMBLE ALL ABOUT?

In the 4th Quarter, Logan fired a slant to Marcus that was somewhere between his knee and waist. It was a bit low, but you HAVE to make that catch. Marcus just threw one arm and said F it. Demetri Knowles would have slid and caught that ball. Jessie Palmer thought the effort was bad.

I saw several plays where Marcus looked scared to crackback block. I saw several plays where Marcus jogged through his routes. CMON MAN. WHERE'S YOUR ATTITUDE AND LEADERSHIP AT?

they're gonna lose to louisville in the orange. some nole walking past me down draper last night after the game gave me a "hokies suck." i was like, "yall aint that much better!"

and that post up there is like a frickin unabomber manifesto

and whoever plays FSU in the Bowl game will for sure take a look at Bud Foster's blueprint on this one to shut down FSU.

Its kind of like Rocky 1, a moral victory.

Football is a game of inches, this game came down to just a few inches. I think Tech will bounce back and beat BC and UVA.

Were catchable. He threw it about as good as you could on the one down the West sidelines to an uncovered Davis. Davis just dropped it. And the one where Davis had to come back to the ball. Logan threw that Ball 60 yards, I doubt he can throw it farther than that to hit Davis in Stride. THe fact of the matter is thta on both plays Logan threw a 100% catchable ball.

you could be right in that we are looking at Coles with "Davis goggles" on, but what I do remember him being was a dependable receiver that ran good routes and got the tough yards, which I think we miss dearly and will miss even more once Corey Fuller graduates. I think what really killed LT3 this year is no Boykin or Coale and, I feel, he has no faith in being able to run sustained drives which is why he's always looking over the top to Davis, which is a crap shoot. From what I've seen of Knowles he seems to run good routes, make catches, and plays hard. If you have him as the burner with Coles underneath and hoping that Stanford, Caleb, and/or Asante step up, I think that is an improves WR core.

My throat is sore, my head hurts, I feel like shit. It was all worth it. You're right Deathrow, when it was 20-10 I thought to myself, "well that might be ballgame" but I was wrong.

Our team is having a down year but they showed tremendous toughness and and fought till the last. As far as the fans go, there were some empties way up in the corners but that shit was nuts. When we got that safety it was as rowdy as I've ever experienced Lane. Even the much maligned NEZ was hoppin and full till the end.

It sucks to lose and we're a flawed football team but I'm encouraged by what I saw last night.

Go Hokies

Beat BC

...for more than he has shown previously. Davis, for instance, came into this season with 54 catches for 850 yards and 8 TD's. Coles, up to this point, has 39 catches, 500 yards, 3 TD's. Coles doesn't have Davis athleticism, obviously. He's not as fast, but he should be more dependable.

Sure, Davis is maddening in his effort, but he has a history of production that is greater than Coles to this point. Roberts has played so poorly this year that he imminently replaceable by anyone, say Kevin Asante. Fuller has developed into a 1A if not 1 receiver and will be difficult to replace.

We need Stafford and Caleb to produce. I think Reeves can become a nice possession receiver, almost a TE/WR hybrid option.

Then we have some athletes in Facyson, Reid, Prince, Newsome, Mangus and Motley who could become something. Generally, when you have that many guys, at least one of them will be something useful.

It will be fun sorting it all out, it sure would be nice to do so with a new WR coach. But there is very real possibility, like the OL and RB, that the '13 version will not be significantly improved on the '12 version.

Sorry brother but something like that is very hard to digest when it looks like an endless run on sentence. You may want to break up into paragraphs. I also understand the frustration. Most of us do. However, if anything, the team showed last night that they're not just dead in the water.

MARCUS DAVIS is our worst offensive player. For those who don't like criticizing him, he's our least good offensive player.

His fumble, dropped pass down the sideline, and lack of effort on most other plays is truly disgusting to watch. His complaining about lack of pass interference flags and looking flabbergasted after he clearly fumbled is embarassing. It's bad when Jessie Palmer is observant enough to see and comment on this.

Some will point at his first 54-yard catch as being a big play. I will say that he bobbled that catch, and almost dropped that one too.

His ball security when he has the ball in his hands is so terrible.

His comments this week and his effort weekly are toxic to this team. He wants to talk about leadership and attitude, he should look no further than himself. Run hard on routes. Catch the damn ball. Tuck the ball into your chest instead of quacking it like a duck. Demonstrate attitude by making plays instead of whininig at the refs. Stop running your damn mouth about leadership and go be a leader.

It is an abomination that it took until the TENTH game of the season for the coaching staff to make the required adjustments to the lineups to put the team in a stronger position to succeed against top level competition. I agree with everything that has been posted on the site both during and after the game and I am extremely proud of the team and Hokie Nation today, but good lord...there is no excuse for the close-mindedness exhibited by the coaching staff this season. When guys like French have been stating the obvious since the open scrimmage and changes were not made until the second week of November, Frank needs to re-evaluate those around him.

I'm so happy to have seen a team that more closely resembled the Hokie squads we all love, but is it just me or does it almost leave a bitter taste in your mouth because of how this has all played out? Is it acceptable for it to take a Thursday Night nationally-televised game against a Top-10 opponent in Lane Stadium, with the season on the brink, for this staff to figure it out?! C'mon guys.

This is not an indictment on the team, they played their butts off and left it all on the field. Guys were getting after it, DB's were playing physical and diving to swat balls, the D-line played with tenacity...the timing is just frustrating.
