Mike Scott is having a fantastic senior season and Tony Bennett is on the short list for national coach of the year. I saw most of their game against Duke and they played the Blue Devils extremely tough on the road. The only other game they lost was at home 57-55 to an average/bad TCU, but it was at the beginning of the year. Furthermore, I don't think we have anyone that matches up with Sene.
The fighting Greenbergs are in a tough spot. They aren't getting a lot of fan support (no team does when they're losing.) They came out fired up against UNC, then got out-talented in the second half. UVA is not a more talented team than us, but they're better coached and more experienced.
More than anything I hope we play with heart.
For those of you going to the game, be prepared to say 38-0 a lot.
My own daughter spent the first few weeks of her life in the NICU at UVA and let me tell you it's not an easy place to spend your time.
Here's hoping little Ava grows up happy and healthy
Gollum. . .hillarious
but seriously if you drank everytime he did right and left hand face palm you would get alcohol poisoning

There's nothing earth-shattering on any of the 3 guys VT is chasing, but it does say that Caleb "seems destined" for WVU.
Chug a beer with each TAKE DUMP. hilarious.
Pros:
1. Like Helo_Hokie said we'd have the entire off-season to prepare for GT.
2. When the game is scheduled at the end of the season, our remaining ACC schedule is tougher than their's. So in the case where we are undefeated in ACC play going into the game, they have one loss, they win, then there's not much chance of them being upset. From the last three years:
VT GT 11/10/11 UNC Duke 11/10/11 UVA XXXXX 11/4/10 UNC Miami 11/4/10 Miami Duke 11/4/10 UVA XXXXX 10/17/09 UNC UVA 10/17/09 UMD Wake 10/17/09 NCST Duke 10/17/09 UVA XXXXX
There'd be more of a chance for them to slip up.
Cons:
1. If we play in a big game to open the season, we almost always lose it.
2. The game won't mean as much. This game has decided the Coastal representative in the ACCCG every year. There's a lot of buildup to it throughout the season which would be lost if it was played Labor Day.
3. Playing the next Saturday on five days rest. (The opponent will most likely be Austin Peay. In the unlikely event that a starter, or bunch of starters suffer an injury, it's less time to get the backups ready. Yes this is nit picky.)
4. Our offense is notorious for starting out slow at the beginning of the season. We should be relying on the pass more, passing offenses take even more time to gel.
I knew they would keep me interested for a half, so I watched The Office (good episode btw) then turned it on when it was still tied at 44. Didn't stay with it long. Oh well.
24-16.
But the win (thanks to a blocked field goal in OT) against William & Mary the season before was better. I was able to go and it was a great game. It was a great season, too. I'll probably never see a season for UR football like that again in my lifetime.
A countdown to futility and annihilation just like Jeff Goldblum had in "Independence Day." Oh, and the same results will occur for the University of Virginia Football team: they will be systematically destroyed on the field. 38-0, 37-7, 42-13, 17-14, 33-21, 17-0, 52-14, 24-10.... a combined 260-79 over the eight year span. That is an average of 32.5 to 9.875, a twenty three point margin of victory annually since 2004.
"Thank you and be sure to pick up your pride on the way out. Come on back in a year once you've had time to grab some rest, grub, and have somehow convinced yourselves that it will be different. We'll show you it remained the same."- Random dude who I watched the game with this year at the bar. Priceless.
It never fails. If we go into halftime with the lead against a ranked team... its best to just turn the game off and enjoy what you saw. Because the second half always gets ugly. Frustrated with Basketball again...
Kicked an NFL record 44 FGs this season. NBD.
Pregame Penis Envy has been spotted!
Can't wait to play tonight. The Free Space is amazing!
but this is going to be ugly.
When I feel the need to figure it out, I always use Wolfram Alpha :P
VT in possession of the Commonwealth cup for 2610 days and counting!
Conclusions from the blog psot: "Recruiting rankings have a huge correlation to future team success, especially on defense. Great teams can come from average talent, but more talent typically means more success. On defense it is virtually impossible to build an elite defense without elite recruits, and its equally true across all defensive positions. On offense dreams of 5 star skill position players are fun, but coaching, player development, system and luck play a much bigger role in future success than they do on defense."
Not sure if our D breaks that mold or not. I would like to see how well our D recruits were ranked. Also, where someone was recruited may not be where they end up playing.
Would you say player development is a strong factor for VT's success or is success the result of recruiting, or both?
It was just a test drive and he didn't pay a cent. That would be really smart!
in the background. Palm trees...NOT Blacksburg.
Either way, he'll be rollin one day real soon.
Has the purchase of a Lamborghini EVER been a smart move for ANYONE?
Let's leave the kid alone. Renting a supercar for a day is better than buying any new car, as far as impulse decisions are concerned. I'm sure we all made some form of luxury buy when we got our own first real job... anything from a nice dinner to too much car/house.
How often do smart people spend 25-50 % of their yearly salary by January 19th? Just Sayin...
I wasn't saying he's somehow smart after all. I saw a lot of tweets yesterday in the form of "good riddance" or something close there to with regards to his perceived ignorant purchase. I'm sure he has received a sizable advance from his agent allowing him to spend some money taking a rig like that on the town for the day. Pretty funny really considering anyone who ever says "If I win the lottery i'd buy x". Would we be just as dumb or superfluous?
i'm glad this was a joke, but am i the only one who was secretly hoping that chick-fil-a was sponsoring him and gave him the car?
How does his (non-)purchase of the expensive car make him any more smart or stupid? He's the same kid he was yesterday, and he'll probably be the same kid tomorrow.

cow .. i'm struggling to hold my shit together at my desk right now .. bwahahahaha .. what a great find
