Shane was brought in for this very situation.
Where does that money come from?
What if our boy blows out his knee in the NFL combine. I mean major blow out with a 12 -18 month full recovery. Good luck paying $4,000/ month car payment. I'm sure insurance isn't cheap either. Hopefully none of that happens and he has a great NFL career. I just hope he doesn't let the money change his personality. Seems to be one of few genuinely nice guys that truly love football for the sport, not the fame.
Fast car for a fast guy.
but david is probably a 2nd round draft pick. who would have given him that much money this early?
I think it's a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (super light), basically... the only car faster than Wilson! So happy for him. Spend that cashhhh, David.

once you sign an agent and elect for the draft you can accept all that money and benefits you weren't allowed in college/high school.
are we sure this isn't a joke? where would he have gotten this money from? he hasn't been drafted yet
lets hope that shane beamer is a good closer
we get all three of em .. hamilton from nj .. deloatch, goldman, stanford, and lockhart pulls a big "sike!!!" and tweets "i was just f-in witch yall .. im vt #5 all da way" ... hahaha
seriously, we'll get at least 1 of the big 3 .. probably 2 .. possibly 3 (but i'd be surprised and call shane beamer the second coming of ______________ ) .. and i think we get stanford (romond may prep if we get him??)
and the staff has been misled before as we all know, but from what i hear and i know person or 2, they feel pretty good about all 3. i think tech gets at least 2.
that's the word i've heard as well. looks like he may have to take the juco route. And all the people i talk to seem to feel pretty comfortable about the remaining big 3 and poss a late offer.
better position with those guys than tech is ... i think.
still early.
miami announced ...
Six freshmen and one junior college transfer have enrolled early and joined the Canes for the upcoming spring semester, the school recently announced.
Gray Crow (Clearwater, Fla.), Preston Dewey (Austin, Texas), Ereck Flowers (Miami, Fla.), Taylor Gadbois (Dallas, Ga.), Ladarius Gunter (Montgomery, Ala.), Raphael Kirby (Stone Mountain, Ga.), and Josh Witt (Weston, Fla.) have all begun classes for the spring semester, which began on Tuesday.
...
anyone see a name missing. a few weeks back a trusted guy on another vt site said lockhart didn't have the scores to get into tech yet ... or as it looks like miami it appears.
"We're moderately interested in it, not crazy about it, but it's got some interest to us," associate athletic director Wayne Hogan said Tuesday. "It's just a question of what makes sense."
However, Tech's preference would be to not play Virginia Tech or any other Coastal Division team in that opening-week spot. Tech's philosophy in recent years has been to play an FCS team in its opener as opposed to a more meaningful league game. For a Labor Day game to happen, the school would have to agree to it. Tech is scheduled to play Middle Tennessee State Sept. 8 and likely would want to move that game to avoid playing on a short week.

I was actually thinking today about heading out to the local schools to watch some games to get a firsthand look at the kids we're targeting.
So Joe, how many trips will we make out to Stone Bridge this year?
that sucked as well
Cosigned. Wrote congressmen by email earlier today. Will phone them tomorrow.
Here is some information on how to contact local politicians in order to discuss the issue. http://mgoblog.com/content/stop-sopa#comment-1441468
SOPA and PIPA have good intent, but threaten to damage Youtube highlights and hilarious gifs. These acts must not be passed.
Now 247 is saying WVU is Joel Caleb's favorite. And I think ESPN said Bama was Korren Kirven's favorite a while back. And a crazed Notre Dame fan on Rivals recruiting board said Ken Ekanem would commit to the Irish today sometime. All the people I talk to who are in "the know" aren't too worried about any of the 3 going anywhere else but VT. But lets not forget last year the whole Marquise Williams fiasco. So who knows?
Are all of these guys in the 2012 class? If so, I'm guessing they are extending preferred walk-on offers?
All three have us on their short lists. Its still as much as a toss up as it has been from the start but I'm most confident in gnabbing Caleb and/or Kirven. It seems as though a mutual loss of interest has happened between Caleb and tOSU. He has already had his visit on Dec 9th as well. However, WVU and Gawgia are also hounding him.
Ekanem has us listed alongside ND and will visit with us this weekend. I hope to which is a fruitful endeavor. He is a big boy and highly touted thus far and his torn ACL may be something to our advantage as we seem a little less weary about it.
Kirven is from brooksville. Both LT and Zach McCray are from there and have most likely tried to help with the process. We keep talking about wanting a Tackle recruited as a Tackle. He's it. There will undoubtedly be some struggle with Bama if they have a spot for him regardless of their own oversigning woes. Virginia and MD also want him pretty badly too.
They weren't in 1999. They were planning a game against Hawaii, but then after they rearranged their schedule it didn't work out? I'm sure it's happened other times, but I don't remember them.

Jimmy Williams did this same thing and spent $250k before being drafted and several teams were quoted as calling his character questionable and it def hurt his draft stock. Don't think character is an issue for David but still may hurt him some. But with that said its his decision and money!
