Seriously, that triple option has no chance against us, if this is true. Our D looks like it could rival 2006's. However, will prepping for their offense for the opener, hurt us the rest of September? GT always seems to give teams a hangover, no matter if they win or lose.

GO GIANTS!

VT needs to revitalize its special teams, in a big way. I am very confident in our D for the next few seasons; we have play makers in the Front Seven and Backfield. Our offense should do well, so long as the (inexperienced) O-line can perform at least marginally. A lot of people believe the Frankinator can't take us to the next level. Maybe this is true, but without him, VT would never be in the convo to begin with.

Stoked about GT-VT opener, but just one time we need to play UVA early to save them the embarassment of white flags after Labor Day.

I was at both Miami and UVA and UM was a thriller akin to the Boise game only this time we won. Logan running into the endzone untouched for the winning score is a moment in Hokie history we'll be talking about when we're old and gray and letting our grandkids taste their first booze at a tailgate. I was like 4 rows up high fiving and hugging before the crowd calmed down. And then they play Enter Sandman for Miami's last play, I was screaming so loud I though I was gonna faint.

UVA was really satisfying, all of it. The tailgate with our Hoo friends where they had champagne and a cheese plate out, (no bullshit) and we had burgers, lil smokies, and Miller Lite in a can. All the shit talking walking up to the stadium was hillarious. A guy looked at me and said "chokies" and I said back simply "lacrosse." He stopped smiling and told me to "bob on the knob." And then the game was pretty boring, by the second half at least.

Miami was insanity, UVA was just us and the Hoos playing their respective roles. It was fun but it was no Miami

Offensive Reasons:
1. LT3 will be a senior. I don't think he's leaving early, but its way too early to gauge.
2. The O-line should have plenty of experience at C, RG, and LG... Hopefully T too.
3. 3 Great Rbs on the team.
4. WR is the easiest position to reload. As long as LT3 and the receivers work in the offseason

Defensive Reasons:
1.Every position will have an experienced starter, except whip... This is why I want Dew or VanDyke to start this year.
2. Kyle Fuller does not leave early because he wants to play one year with his brother Kendall

Special Teams Reasons:
1. Hopefully 2012 will be the year VT will rebuild special teams and continue to improve into 2013.

Alabama:
According to their Rivals website depth chart, NO underclassmen started this year on defense. Only McCarren and two offensive linemen were sophomores.... So, we really have no idea what they'll put on the field in 2013, but I'm sure they'll be good. But so will VT.

I watched the miami and uva games on television. For miami, I got together with Hokie alumni and friends and got completely tanked trying to ease my nerves during an awesome game. For uva, I got together with the exact same crew and hadn't laughed so hard in long time. That was a game to beat your chest to whilst waltzing around a terp-filled office that Monday. In a game that mattered, we shut those hoos up hard and crushed their dreams..there's not much better. 38-0.

The two games I went to were the Thursday night North Carolina game and the Sugar Bowl. The Thursday night game is a tradition with my fellow Hokie family members and friends, so that had its perks. The Sugar Bowl was the Sugar Bowl. A hard fought game where we, thankfully, didn't get smoked. It was heartbreaking walking out of the Superdome, but New Orleans was fun nonetheless. My mother constantly tells people that she will never forget as long as she lives, me walking into the stadium screaming, "THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW! I LOVE MY LIFE!"

have a lot to do with how G-W comes back off of a pretty serious injury as well

Big risk = big reward. It will not be like jmu. jmu ≠ Austin Peay (I STILL haven't figured out how to pronounce it...). Something in me is telling me to throw caution to the wind and go in headstrong. If we do it, and it pays off, it'll be indescribable at the end of the season. Let's just hope we prepare well in the off season no matter who we end up opening with.

The younger kids have more upside, but I'd still put my money on G-W starting in 2012. Whenever I've heard Foster talking about replacing a starter at Whip he mentions he has to trust that player. A primary goal of the defense is to funnel the ball carrier to the Whip who has the opportunity to make, or break, a lot of plays. I think the staff trusts G-W the most. Beamer declared The Hyphen was the starter and there wouldn't be a 50/50 split with Tweedy. Then when Tweedy went down Dew played vary sparingly (4 snaps UVA, 3 snaps UNC, 0 snaps GT, 8 snaps Duke) and instead we kicked Fuller down to Whip.

Also, Tweedy is pretty fast.

i won't jinx next season by making some ridiculous fucking statement about us going to the natty next season ... but shit does happen

Things in our favor:
- sick-ass defense
- a great qb (and i'm not being a silly homer->when the whole country is wow'ed by LT, you know he's the real deal)
- a good enough SOS, but not overbearing
- experience at wr
- sick-ass defense

Things working against us:
- running back
- OL

I think that RB could be a push. Losing DW is hard, but we have stallions in the stable and RB is one of the easiest positions on the field to learn. It's a natural position. Let's not forget what RW did when he stepped in for DE after he blew his knee out. If the OL can grant a miracle and work together, it can be good enough.

Most national championship teams usually have those special "things" about them. It's rarely just a black-and-white -- this team was that much better than that team. With Bama this season, it was their D. With Auburn, it was Cam Newton. With LSU, it was their D. With TX, it was Vince Young

We'll have a great defense and a great QB -- the two things that CAN make the rest of a team's weaknesses disappear

some analysts are already expecting big things from VT two seasons from now .. if LT stays .. This next season is only his 3rd year of eligibility used, so he'll have one more season after that if he decides to stay. It probably depends a lot of his development this next season and other QBs coming out too. We'll be stacked again on D in '13-'14. We'll have some consistency/experience at RB and lose very little on the lines. The big question marks for that season:

Will Logan Thomas stay?
Wide Receiver depth/experience

Some of these young guys need some playing time next season. Asante, Corey Fuller ... Looking at the WR depth chart, I barely know anything about any of 'em past Coles/Roberts/Davis and they're all gone after next season.

If they land Caleb, in my opinion, they SHOULD NOT redshirt him.

With a VERY experienced team, on both sides of the ball -- if they can beat Alabama in the first game, VT will immediately be on everyone's radar. Not that it means shit, but I'd expect them to be a preseason top 5 before the '13 season just for the sake of hype. I'd agree that '13-'14 could be the last best shot CFB has for a Natty.

And that's what he wants to play in college. Receiver is definitely going to be a position of need for the 2013 class.

beating your "retarded" little brother in cards or a foot race (think "Something about Mary" or "the Ringer.") they just don't really get it. They keep coming up with little jabs, little stupid things, more Zima etc, but just don't get the whole picture...they're just happy to be there. All the while, we're beating the snot out of them in football, basketball "just like football!!!" and even with academics.

And playing Alabama.... My guess is that 2013 is not the year

I realize this has nothing to do with basketball, but it's somewhat related. Did everyone see what the charlottesville, Virginia Facebook page had to do yesterday?
While I was looking at their profile picture, I flipped through some others and they're infuriating! They posted a picture of a sunny fall day at uva beside a blizzard picture of Blacksburg. First of all, despite that, I chose Virginia Tech over uva anyway, so their weather means crap, but do they seriously spend all their time coming up with ways to troll Virginia Tech? Don't get me wrong, I love to rag on uva as much as the next guy (I love this post), but I don't just sit around coming up with ways to put them down all the time (mostly because things like the above picture, "All of the hoos", and "I pledge" do the work for us). There are kids in the comments talking about how easy it is to get into Virginia Tech and whatnot. Comments like, 'It's not a real rivalry because uva is never ranked, so it's not that big of a deal' are what they mutter under their breath to keep from crying themselves to sleep every night. And yet, in a game that decided who would represent the Coastal side of the division, we shut you out. At home. But uva football is back, RIGHT?! Get a life! Idk..it's random and I guess I came here to vent. I realize we in-turn are trolling them here, but it really irritated me. I'll quit my whining now.
