recruiting mean if you keep losing?

Recruiting has picked up since Seth has taken over, but he seems to have hit a ceiling. Great job getting the program to where it is, but I think he might have maxed out. Next year will be the telling year. We'll have everyone back that matters (no, I'm not counting Zo and Vic b/c they have been useless this year) and the team will have some experience. If Greenberg can't get them into the NCAAs next year, time to say goodbye.

I r teh dum tonight

once the OL gets better the offense will come around.

Does it seem like Seth just can't coach the x's and o's to anyone else? Nobody in our offense is ever open, nobody makes cuts, we can't beat the zone, and we run the same things all game even if they aren't working. There's no in-game adjustments, and our guys can't do the little things, like pump fakes, and it might be because they're young, but shouldn't Seth be telling them to do these things in practice? I think we need a new coach.

there is a reason why the team, no matter how constructed, save a gritty sr class 5 yrs ago, can't get that brass ring.

They watch the ball instead of boxing out
They can't score the basketball inside
They don't create fouls on offense (Delaney was awesome at this)
They don't have any consistent outside shooters (Are there not an any white guys in VA that just shoots jump shots?)
We get very few easy transition buckets
There is no one to get the team excited (Where is Derron Washington's Mom?)

I see what you did there

Were going to have some tough losses at the beginning of ACC play. Our next game will probably be very similar to these last two, but once our Freshman get used to ACC play we'll be fine, as long as they learn how to BOXOUT.

Do we practice offense? I wonder

Youth, absence of a scorer who can take over a game by himself (or at least be a secondary scoring threat), and inadequate senior leadership. This is going to be a take-your-lumps kind of year while the young bucks grow up. The present is bleak, but the future is brighter. Add Montrezl next year and it gets brighter. NIT, at best.

and it seems like no matter the inputs (talent/experience/injury/depth), the result is the same. How much more rope does Seth get?

Our young team is hitting the midseason wall.. and we have no leadership from the upperclassman. Davila is not vocal at all and JT Thompson is on the sideline...its hard for Green to carry them

a missed block away. we are close, real close, just stay with me. it will get better.

Green and Eddie are the only 2 that can shoot on this team. Looks like Bobby Browm has hit the Freshnan wall

stiney who has great connections in hampton roads was put back there save a spot or 2 for newsome.

since they were moving cav, a natural spot to put beamer. no reason to have a whole bunch of territories new to guys.

757 is still the best in the state and certainly per capita but richmond and nova (due to sheer numbers) has closed the gap.

I was losing my mind screaming for the "hard count" play call. It was the PERFECT time to call it. If we rushed right up to the ball and looked like we were going to go for the QB sneak (which Michigan probably watched on film 10 times a day for a month) on the 4th and 1 I have no doubt in my mind that the Mich D line would have loaded the middle then jumped off sides. There would have been no Punt/fake punt/ time out debacle.

That could have very well been the game changing possession and game changing call. That is the coaches fault for not being able to manage the game and use strategy that at least gives you the option. If you are going to waste a time out... waste it after testing the opposition first.

Then when you do call the time out... look at the distance for the first down and either play field position and punt normal style (fuck the rugby kicking) or call a slant route pass play from the I formation and use a size mismatch (aka MD7 or D.J. Coles) to get the first down.

Its not rocket science.

I had some thoughts I never wrote down. The players change year to year so the only consistent element in us not winning the big games is the coaches.

There is too often a failure in situational awareness and reacting with the right play call. For instance on the fake punt. Why didn't they attempt a fake QB sneak hard count and then call a timeout if the play clock ran down. Or, if the D relaxed, because it looked like a fake, run the sneak to catch them off guard. I don't know if the O has that hard count in their playbook or even practices it but it should be there and the coaches need to know the situation of when to run it.

Its little things like this that are separting us from the top tier, or when talent is not quite to the oppostion's level, keeping us from pulling the upset.

There are also boneheaded plays by the players on occasion (roughing the kicker, false start negating first and goal) but these coaches can work on preparing the players to minimize this.

Overall a very good effort. Its just these little things that end up being big enough.

Haha. I should have included in the post that the metrics are all from Google Analytics. They do what they do and serve up all that information to me. The site doesn't collect anything out of the ordinary, just basic logging of web traffic by the Apache server + Google Analytics. Also, all your registered information is kept private, it's not sold to spammers, marketing lists, etc...

Joe, do you track based on user account location, IP address or both? :)

That GIF may have exaggerated how many women are actually here.

Levenberry's recruitment will run through his dad and I don't believe tech is high on his list, but one interesting thing is the placement of Shane Beamer in the Richmond area as more of the states talent has shifted from the once dominate 757 area code to the Richmond area over the past couple of years. And its been clear since his Sophomore year that Tech really covets Bucky Hodges.
