If not for the fact that I coach AAA high school wrestling in Virginia, you would see a lot more coverage. I started out covering every match, but then our season started and my world is consumed with the 14 young men I coach on a daily basis. But, I do care enough about the sport to advocate for it. That's why I write about the Hokies wrestling team every chance I get. I also plan to go to the ACC Championship and cover that for you guys as well.
By far... Love the doughnut on the scoreboard at the end. Every player came to play that day.
Favorite game was Miami definitely:
Boykin long bomb to answer the Miami score
Stuffing the UM fake field goal on the first drive
David Wilson's Spiderman sideline run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MazffVhy6pw
LT Smash on the game-winning 4th and 1 run
The ESPN hype video when UM called the timeout before the last play
Sundown game at Lane Stadium (God Bless 3:30PM kicks). Plus I talked to Tyrod, Bryan Randall, Paul Debnam, and David Wilson at TOTS. On Sunday, took my dog Cody (guess who he's named after) around campus and to the duck pond. A Brent-Musberger "fine" fall weekend.
Thanks for the info. I wrestled in this area while in high school and you don't find too much information regarding wrestling on most of the other sites. I am glad someone cares enough about the sport to share some information regarding these very dedicated and amazing athletes.
If I'm playing in fantasy land I...
1. Ask Newsome to retire and take a cushy six-figure office job.
2. Move Stiney to the offensive line.
3. Hire either the Fridge or Kevin Rodgers to be the offensive coordinator and play caller. Honestly, Rogers is more familiar with the program and might be the better choice, but Fridge is a hell of a coach.
4. Move O'Cain back to QB coach (even though he did a pretty decent job of calling plays this year).
5. Change nothing on defense.
Unless youre involved in the sport many dont realize that VA is a superb recruiting ground for wrestling. Iowa always seems to be at the top, but VA boasts a ton of talent. Kids start wrestling very early so its not unheard of to have Freshman dominate at the state championship level. Thanks Booth!
We're #1!
With big guys underneath especially when it comes to getting rebounds. I hope they can capitalize as said with turnover margin.
Just show your ID at the ticket office
Could not agree more. I get sick to my stomach every year ay national signing day. It's not because our recruits are bad just because we could have done much better we always lose done kids we should have gotten. We need to finish stronger.
NEVER BRING BACK BUSTLE. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER. give me bruce arians. talk about (generally) succeeding with less...
...beamer is showing how they rolled in SC/SEC .. oversign and then cut your dead weight .. guess that's business and that's one of the reasons the sec is ruling cfb
Coach Cav is def one of the best .. We should be recruiting the hell out of players with Cav, Stiney, and Shane now .. This class looks very good but I've always questioned the effort recruiting wise .. But you do what you can do. When you're jammed between B1G country and SEC country, not to mention VT's failure to deliver, our koolaid probably isn't quite as sweet as we think.
Kirven is another one to watch. They say that he's been a heavy VT lean all along .. If he ends up in Bama, I'd say that's a big loss for us -- not necessarily from a "him" standpoint (our defensive recruiting class looks stout) .. Just the fact (again) that we lose a 4 star recruit living an hour away.
Even with a good class, if we lose Kirven and Caleb, this recruiting effort will have been a big fat fail.
pretty sure orange pants was the first post i saw. had been following lightly on twitter for a few weeks, but came to the site for the first time then. keep it rockin', joe. that was an awesome season!
During my tenure they'd throw tickets at us until we joined the ACC. Since then I think there has been a lot more interest among casual Tech fans.
This actually is the most simple and effective way we could improve. I'm not sure of the rules, but I think to recruit on the road, you have to fill a spot on the coaching staff and vice versa. Therefore it would be a waste to have Stiney just recruit, when he could work with the o-line.
I was thinking the realistic version of ideal, but who am I to stifle creativity?
But I've got Bama 17-13
doh!
27-24 LSU over Alabama, though a win by Alabama could have serious implications on the BCS system. Like the end of it.
I've got LSU 23-14. Should be a good one. Though I hesitate not to put 3-0 by the same token...
my original prediction for the first game was Bama by 17, which couldve happened had they not sucked in the red zone. i'll stick to my original prediction for this game too
I agree...I just want to see a few touchdowns scored. Almost want to see Bama win for BCS Chaos, but the Mad hatter will probably win again!
Im with you dude. Hell I'd rather see Stanford in it than see a rematch.
$ECSPN has gotten completely out of control.
16-11 BAMA. Some weird plays to get a weird score.

The #1 player for 2013, OLB EJ Levenberry, could merit five-star status with offers already from Bama, Florida, FSU, LSU, OSU, and USC. Can VT take a shot at keeping him in-state or is he out the door already to greener pastures?
Here's a link to the 2013 top 25 in VA. Would love to hear some thoughts about our chances with any of these guys:
