for some reason I thought the aTm game was on Thursday. I don't know why. So I am taking Baylor and yes I am drinking Lenny RIPA tonight

Baylor to at least cover...if not win
MSU to reign supreme, because my sister's hot roommate went there
OK State...Cowboys are rocking this year
Wake...as always, but this is going to be a closer game (hope I'm wrong too!)
Maryland...Tajh's swagger is MIA
Oregon...can't pick against the hot cheerleaders

Impressive selection! Are you in California by any chance?

Well almost half-way through and I am still struggling to get back down to .500. I even went three and three with not providing a pick for the OU/TX game. Nothing like going out and planning to come home early to keep me out late. The wife is out of town this weekend and I also plan on coming home early tomorrow after the Hokies game. I will keep you posted. The games are not great, but there are still games. We are almost halfway through the season so we need to appreciate it while we can.

Baylor - I think aTm will win, but Baylor should cover. BCO stated RGIII had an 80% completion percentage, I thought it was more like 800%. The guy is amazing. I know aTm is coached by Mike Sherman which almost means automatic loss but for some reason I think they pull this won out, by a nose hair.

Sparty - I will be arriving to the bar around the time this game is ending. I would like see 100+ alligator-armed Michigan fans in disappointment and shock when I do. The best was about 3 years ago a server at the bar was about 6'1" or so, with long blonde hair, totally hot. She also was a MSU fan and wore a Michigan St jersey while she served all the Michigan fans as MSU won. I think I watched her more than the game.

Oklahoma St - Texas is still Texas and Mack Brown hasn't missed many meals lately. Like a team in Tallahassee, Texas made great moves in the off-season, hiring two of the hottest O and D coordinators. The latest result, 55 points to Oklahoma, only scoring 17 and they have already played 3 qbs. Texas, who signs the 25 best players every year, usually when these kids are about 12 or so, just reloads. Name me a good running back there in the last 8 years. They are not that talented and not well coached. Mack looks like he wants to eat his way into retirement. That being said, this is the type of week when there will be an upset, this could be it but I am not brave enough to pick it.

Wake - Well I don't think LoCam Thomas will have a better game against Wake than he had against SuckstobeU. Did O'Cainspring rest this week after that performance? This game sucks and the fact that we will be watching on a computer hooked up to a tv sucks too. This is a veteran team with a veteran coach going up against a kindergarten D-line. I just don't think Tech can last the whole game and this will be the 2nd best team we have played this year.

Clemson - The only way Clemson will pull a Clemson is if you think they will win. I would have thought when Debbie Yow left Maryland things would get better. The basketball coach leaves and then the oust Ralph Friedgen (looking at you Frank Beamer) to bring in Randy Edsall, who puts the freshman of the year QB in a completely different offensive system. Good move guys, the future is looking bright. Is it Lax season yet?

Oregon - Can you really go against Chrissy? BCO's rundown of an Oregon student's day is spot on, well done, Sir. I can't really add anything else except Oregon is playing better and better every week and will continue to do so.

Sadly, I am drinking the Budweiser of Belgium, also known as Stella Artois. It will be Rogers tomorrow if the bar has it.

Go Hokies!

And I apologize for my absence in the Mascot Mock

Time to kick some Deacon ass! Injuries won't matter.

Look out you Demon Deacon. You're about to get harassed!

lenny r.i.p.a.?, if so ...great rye ipa.

Michigan State - give Hoke a few years and you won't remember when Missagain wasn't dominating the big ten
Okie State - this game may be close but Texas is trying to lose
Wake Forest - defense is hurting right now, wake will keep this game close
Clemson - like everyone else I am afraid that the tigers will choke it up but I am hoping they wait to do that till the ACC champ
Oregon - by way more than 15.5 even without their best scoring option.

botw - When I finally get out of class at 6pm I am opening up my

to stay 50-50 on the year.

Baylor
Michigan... also, my Mich alum friend thinks nothing matters as much as the OSU game, not even the Michigan State game. Great in-state rivalry there <.<
Ok State
VT... can't pick against us, even though that's been a bad choice all year. Also, hoping Harris isn't at full speed this week.

If y'all beat Sparty you'll probably move up. Obviously it depends on what everyone else does. The more you comment, the more turkey legs you get.

Hey Joe, you should probably vote Michigan higher. How do i get turkey legs?

Clemson and East Carolina defended Logan Thomas much differently than everyone else on the schedule. They ran short zones, taking away the Hokies bubble screens and 6-8 yard comeback routes. Those are the throws that O'Cain goes to early in a game to get LT3 in synch. For whatever reason, Miami played way off the WR's (except for the 1st series of the second half), and their corners and safeties were very slow reacting to passes. Guys were open, and LT3 did a great job of hitting them in stride.

i'll come out ahead.

BAYLOR (RGIII is da truf. guy is teaching the big 12/10/8 what MV7 taught the east coast)
BIG BLUE (sneaky spartans give vegas a line i love. shoelaces shines in the nooner snoozer)
PICKENSES (texas let big brother OU pass all over them, don't expect THE MAN to do anything less)
HOKIES (line has gone to -6.5 but i still like em. without a running game, price is toast)
CLEMPSON (prepare for lots of passing. lots and lots and lots)
BURFICT (eating lots o duck. oregon wins, but not by 2 TDs)

the key to the game is very simple. The Hokie defensive line must maintain gap control against the very large Wake Forest OL, which runs a true zone blocking scheme out of spread/shotgun looks. Usually that means that the defensive line must play one yard deep into the backfield and then play flat down the line of scrimmage. JR Collins and Derrick Hopkins have been outstanding against zone blocking this year, especially when the play has been run away from them. That means that Tyrell Wilson and Corey Marshall MUST be able to stand up at the point of attack. Wilson also must use his speed to cut off the cutback lanes backside (an area where Zach McCray and Duan Perez-Means struggled against Arkansas State.) Also, Coach Wiles must figure out a way to rest Derrick Hopkins. He was totally gassed in the 4th quarter versus Miami.

Offensively, I anticipate that Wake Forrest will use some zone blitzes with cover two principles against the Hokie offense. When Logan Thomas has been good, it has been against man and cover 3 coverage. Every time a defense has played short zones/cover 2, he has struggled. Also, anticipate a good game from Andrew Miller, who has played much better against 3-4 defenses with a nose than 4-3 defenses (who usually eagle weak.) Also, the Hokie guards must get to the second level to block outside backers when they pull and create inside seams, as the alignment makes it much tougher for tight ends to seal guys inside.

Baylor wins, doesn't cover
Mich wins big
Cowboys win and cover
Our boys win by 10
Clemson wins and covers
Oregon wins and covers
