The fisted picture is the greatest thing I've ever seen

because he kinda reminds me of one of the bugs from District 9.

Saturday night and figured he was trying not to piss himself. Glad I wasn't the only one thinking he was looking up at the crowd with god-knows-what going through his head. Of course, if I had Princess Jacory running the show, I'd be a little worried too.

ESPN hates the Hokies. It's a true story. And they didn't capture the clutch performance by Logan whatsoever.

so perfect! literally sitting here at work cracking up.

derp. that is all.

my vote is up, but doesn't look so good for LT3 in this one. I was really disappointed with the Sportscenter recap of the game, they really didn't capture the awesomeness...

Or does Al Golden have a nice pair shape to him, somewhat reminiscent of the Philly Phanatic.

I switched Michigan and Oregon, and while agree with you that Nebraska ranked too high, and I'd also add they would have lost if tOSU's QB Braxton didn't get injured, I can't definitively say any team below them is better than them.

Gearhart says he’s working on getting Metallica to participate in another Virginia Tech-related initiative, but declined to go into specifics because “unless I can deliver it, unless Marc can deliver it, then you just disappoint. …The key here is really just supporting my son and being able to fan the flames of this insane enthusiasm that they generate.”

...and begin the rumors (again) of Metallica playing live

I am saving this post so I will know how to treat my daughter to Hokie football in five years. This juice box sounds key. I don't know about giving her grass to get her hooked on cornhole, though (j/k).

Honestly it took the wind out of my sails a little bit. Every time we do the Lets Go...Hokies chant, I start to get chills just in anticipation. So when Enter Sandman starts playing after the 5th or 6th one it's just awesome. But with them doing the video, I lost the buzz that was at virtually a maximum.

on #12- it got so crazy a bleacher broke in North End Zone. I am proud to be among North End Zone people this game. Last game I was one of the few loud people all game, but this time, it was crazy. Still can't believe that bleacher broke.

Dream Team:
HC: I'd prefer Nick Saban or Bob Stoops, but Peterson is great so I have no qualms.
OC/DC: Foster and Chryst would be a deadly combination.

Homegrown:
RB: I think DW breaking tackles is more due to his lifting, and his lack of vision and hitting the holes could be due to Shane Beamer's inexperience working with running backs. Shane has to be on the staff, but I'm not sure where the best place for him is. Hopefully he gets better in that regard.
QB: I think Bryan Randall would be a good QB coach, and I'd like to bring him back (possibly in a graduate assistant role first to get his coaching feet wet).
O-line: Newsome sucks, he's instantly cut. I don't know any O-line coaches either, so I might put Stinespring in charge there and obviously take away his OC tag. Stiney can't go on the road and recruit unless he's on the coaching staff, so an administrative role wouldn't be good.
OC option 1: I don't know much about Freidgen's past coaching or style, but he would absolutely fit with Beamer's family mentality.
OC option 2: Bruce Arians (OC Pittsburgh Steelers) played for VT back in the 70s. Most coaches don't go from pro to college so it's unlikely, but if he wanted to head home he could. He coached in college for a while, and he's been successful in the pros.
OC option 3: I'm not sure if VT has as much intrigue as Clemson, but I've been very impressed by Chad Morris. If we could pull him away that'd be a HUGE get.
OC option 4: Paul Petrino (OC Illinois) has put up some nice numbers over the years, but he's often leached onto his brother (Louisville, Atlanta Falcons, Arkansas). I don't trust that the success in the past isn't because of his brother, but he has done well so far on his own in Illinois.
Defense: Leave everybody in the same spots. I wouldn't be surprised if Torrian Gray started getting offers for low level DC jobs. Hopefully we can keep him home like we've done with Bud.

First, I think nebraska is ranked way too high. Impressed they were able to win, but they should never have gone down by that much to an ohio state team that is not good at all. oregon, is way better than michigan. I know lsu blew them out, but lsu is the best team in the country. I would put oklahoma above bama, but that is probably splitting hairs.

I agree dnyce McCray is strong but that is not his game he is an athletic pass rusher who I think is at the least strong enough to shed blockers maybe not bull rush but still a beast. I think if he had the first 5 games under his belt he would have been more than capable of holding his own against miami, same goes for DPM and Wilson just gives every ounce of his soul on every play. This is just something I have been thinking about all weekend, glad some of you agree, thought I was just over analyzing...

I agree with you whole heartly, move J.R Collins to D-Tackle and place DPM or ZM the Defensive End spot. This way you have an experience player in J.R Collins who can not only play the D.T. position but also communicate with the young guys at the DE spot. You guys talk about DPM and ZM displaying their abilities to perform, well first and foremost you have to get these guys reps,ex:when DPM gets in the game he is in for 3 downs and then removed, have you notice when he is in for the 3 downs he is effective in 2 of the 3 downs, increasing his playing time to at least 2 or 3 series will give him the opportunity to make plays.Someone mention ZM is not strong enough. I dont think that is the problem. The youngman is strong enough however, he is not a physical player. He has to work on being more aggressive however, playing time is the key for the back ups. When you hear the coaching staff say they donot have trust in these young players, it frustrates me because in order to build trust you must play early and often to get the experience, and not wait until the game is on the line. The only way to build confidence in anything you do, is to do it often. The comments here are not only for the D-Line but , all back ups. All it takes is an injury that can mess up your chemistry, get them all involved...Go Hokies!!!!

When it showed up on the screen, I thought "what the heck" for about a half second until I heard Enter Sandman, at which point I went crazy as usual. It does nothing for me, but if it helps others get loud then I'm all for it. I wasn't a fan of when Bowden played Enter Sandman though; it seemed weaker then.

Stadium rocked all game long. Just under 4 minutes left in 1st quarter I was getting hoarse already. Damn good showing by our O. D had its struggles but we also had some injuries there which affected us 2nd half. Still had some dumb penalties that cost us possessions. Nothing we can't fix.

Friday night I stayed in the same hotel as the 'canes. I didn't plan on it. Overheard one of the players saying "we're goin Hokie huntin' tomorrow". I guess they missed.

I was in the South end zone so saw the hole open up on LT's TD run. Guys behind me yelled "No, not the draw" but it was the right call. I felt like the team looked on the last drive. I could sense no panic.

I hope this game solidified Manning's commitment to VT. I always felt he committed too early to Tech but understand this is part of the process.

Honestly I don't think either Al or the team was ready for that huge increase in volume and motion from the crowd just from their body language and facial expressions. Oddly they didn't take a lesson from Georgia Tech and the last series on the Thursday night home game last year. I think that should be included in teams' preparation- not just noise but that last minute and a half massive decibel and motion increase.

When we saw this from the South Endzone on Saturday the stadium went wild- I remember one of the constant dreams of Tech fans when a student at VT was "man I wish Metallica did a live Sandman for one huge game". Though not live, seeing the recognition from the band was awesome and another boost for the fans to keep their VOLUME UP!!!

Looking at that clip the VT blockers are giving up but the Miami D is still pursuing. With DW they need to learn to never stop.

Next to some of my NFL-horrid memories as a Jet fan, some of the best and worst football memories have come from this series. My favorite all-time win, aside from the Monday Night Miracle at the Meadowlands was the 16-14 thriller in 2004 when Bryan Randall (who once again showed great class on Saturday) hit Eddie for the winner and the first ACC Championship for Tech. The worst came the next year....ugh still stings. I have always felt this game means even more than UVA because though Miami is down it is still a marquee program and a huge win if we can get it (also an indicator of the season)- plus the attitudes of the Thug U fans: always great to see their bandwagon fans crying at their tailgates in the Burg!
