Lots of fodder for the mascot mock.
guess which one got paid and which one is money!?!
Or the hit on Coale last year on the pass from Logan Thomas...
beat one of nevy's made men.
Miami booster Nevin Shapiro alleges he provided extra benefits to Vaughn Telemaque during his career with the Hurricanes. Among the benefits he claimed to have provided:
VAUGHN TELEMAQUE
Position: Safety
Rivals recruiting rank: Ranked as the No. 171 player overall in the Class of 2008.
Miami career: An instant impact player as a freshman, Telemaque heads into his junior season with a wealth of starting experience. He is expected to be a standout on this season’s defense and is already on the radar of NFL scouting departments.
• Food, drinks and entertainment at Shapiro’s $6 million Miami Beach mansion.
• Pool tournaments for cash at Shapiro’s home.
• Drinks and VIP access at nightclubs on multiple occasions.
In Shapiro’s words
• “Vaughn Telemaque was one of Randy Phillips’ friends. He was at the house a number of times and in the clubs with us. [He] played pool with us in the house when I would put [on] pool tournaments and put some cash in the pockets.”
• “He was a really nice kid. Quiet California [attitude]. Laid back. Chill dude. But he was around a number of times.”
headline on sports center this morning read "death penalty for Miami?". i sure hope not that would make the ACC look terrible and it also makes me feel bad for miami fans. i dont know what i would do if it was us in trouble
I think it was Joe recently (during BCO's top 20) that said that he got the sense that RMFW was truly doing something special when you watched him run...couldn't agree more. I believed then and still do that he was a generation-type player, and he almost made me forget about Suggs/Jones.
But I remember thinking (along with others) when that was going on that DW could be the best of the 3..it will be interesting to see how he does or if current events are/were more heavily weighted over the past. I don't think any of us were guilty of this with Ryan Williams.
Kinda makes you wonder what they were talking about when they kept saying da U has it's swag back, huh?
The more I think about it, I just don't see how da U can be allowed to have a football program next year. The timing could not be worse though with the SEC ready to grab FSU.
I'm very interested to see Swofford's take on all of this. For a conference that prides itself on academic reputation, that's two major black eyes from UNC and Miami.
:D
can has death penalty?
:D
Next NCAA lunch meeting addition: Roasted Ibis
Yes, or that there was a certain thing that Shapiro paid to resolve for HD's love affair...
Waiting for a UVA scandal to break now as the rest of the ACC Coastal is in flames. Wait...DOES UVA even have football boosters? Can't wait for the mascot mock.
how awesome would it be if it was revealed that HD was having a secret affair with princess jacory and that shapiro paid for their rendezvous? would explain sooo much.
We've mocked it in the past, but it appears to be real. From what I've heard and read, FSU and Clemson are indeed fully commited to the ACC. This complicates things for the SEC as the only way aTm gets the invite is if there is a 14th team ready to go. Mizzou also appears to be committed to the Big 12. Of course, if God's conference wants a 14th team, God's conference will get a 14th team. Even WVU has been mentioned (to break into the Pittsburgh market - apparently geography really doesn't matter in conference names anymore.)
I kind of like the ACC standing strong and not letting the SEC poach whoever they want. Their fans were getting way too cocky with the aTm situation and its great to see them scratching their heads wondering why they can't hand pick which ACC team should come begging for admission to God's conference.
Of course if da U gets the death penalty, everything could change...
Is anyone really surprised? The only thing that shocked me was the look on Shalala's face at a $50,000 check- merely $10,000 more than a traditional Miami student's tuition. Can 'U' say money issues? Very nice work Joe this gave me a great laugh. Hahahahaha. Swagger is back...ha. All joking aside I really hope they don't get the death penalty due to our rivalry and ACC prestige (though it's already low in football).
Would have to say that Hokizilla is number one. Many great entries and creativity. Lets see what this year brings!
Agree with all the above. KJ was a very good, well trained athlete, while RMFW has that special ability.
Anyone that breaks a commitment is not someone we want on our team.
Not sharing carries. Entirely possible if everyone stays healthy, good weather, ...
He has the ability to break off long runs with his speed.
Does he have the vision, quickness, and cut-back ability to find the holes? RMFW has that and a great burst when he finds the opening.
I would love to see him challenge it.
I am at a loss for words. Pictures might be better.

i'm plotting my miami mascot mock out now. it'll have to include some of shapiro's abercrombie & fitch party shirts from 2003.

If all of these guys are ruled ineligible their defense would be decimated. Here's a great summary http://www.seventhfloorblog.com/2011/8/17/2367927/a-prospective-post-sha.... Some of my favorite lines are:
"With the subtractions of Ojomo, Forston, Robinson and Vernon, Miami's defensive line is absolutely decimated. "
"With the loss of both Armstrong and Telemaque, Miami might be the first team to ever contemplate not playing any safeties."
"The supposedly heated quarterback race is effectively over. Morris takes the reigns, which might not be the worst thing in the world, but it leaves Miami one injury away from the return of the Spencer Whipple era." /shiver
