I too found it interesting that they didn't mention Marcus Davis, and they just threw Dyrell's name out there like he was healthy and glossed over the fact that he might not be fully healed by September and the possibility of him taking a redshirt. Their production team didn't put together very good notes.
I think everyone is picking us to go 10-2, including myself, but looking at that schedule I cannot pick one, let alone, two losses. Unless Logan completely falls on his face I think we'll be favored in every single game. Like you said Scott, I love the fact we won't play a ranked team until October. What do you guys think about the road trip to Georgia Tech?
Kirk had a good point about us putting ourselves out of it the first game every year. It's the undefeated teams that make the noise. Unfortunately we have started a lot of recent seasons 0-1. Says a lot for our fearless scheduling, but no one hypes a team that's 0-1. Also, it's nice to see West End getting some love on ESPN.
We have so many pieces around LT, it sets up nicely for him to either excel and/or feel a lot of pressure. Glad that we are opening up with some softballs this year instead of our standard opening weekend top 5 opponent.
Sorry it took so long for that article to get posted, but hopefully it was worth the wait. And when I was interviewing the guy (who asked not to be named) all I could think of was DW eating CFA on Sundays.

The helmets usually do cost a bit more (not sure exactly how much). Today is actually the day that VT is releasing the helmet ratings that I mentioned in the article. And from talking to the ICATS people, there is no indication that VT will be using these helmets unless it is on a player by player basis. I probably should have mentioned that in the article, but it's a little late for me to add that in now. What made me want to write on concussions is that I've had a decent amount of them (actually recently fully recovered from one I got last October...quite a bad one). And after finding out about David Wilson taking a 225g hit, it made me realize he really does eat Chick-fil-a on Sundays.
This was an absolutely fantastic read. It's amusing, but not very surprising that David Wilson has one of the toughest noggins around. It's kind of amazing to realize that there are safer helmets out there like the DNA Pro+, but are overlooked because they don't pass the eye test. Do they cost more? Is there any indication that VT might use these in the future?
Thanks for posting the vid....I find it funny how they didn't mention Marcus Davis when mentioning are recievers...And the answer to their question is no, VT doesn't get respect as the best team in the ACC. Constantly overshadowed to fans and recruits by FSU and Miami. I hope we go undefeated this year, but it all depends on Cam Ne-- err, Logan Thomas
I am glad we got him and I love reading about the take down. I am very unhappy with the title of this post. I now have the awful Lee Greenwood "Proud to be an American" song in my head. I hate, hate, hate that song. He sang at like every Steeler opener for about 5 seasons and I wanted to puke or worse each time. I am not saying the song is good or bad, just that I would rather watch high(low)light tapes from '06 - '07 of the VT quarterback who will not be named than listen to even 1 chord of this song. That being said it has been a great week outside of my crushing work schedule with the news of the killing of OBL. I can't wait to discuss this with him when I see him in hell. Oh yeah, I am going to hell, just ask my wife or fans of any school that isn't VT after I have had between .5 or 14 pilsners. These newspaper headlines sum up my feelings sans music better than I can in words.

I'm really happy for Rock and Tyrod. I thought the Eagles would be the best fit for Tyrod, and that's a tough thing to say coming from a Giants fan. But the Ravens have a strong coaching staff. I have to wonder if Jim spoke highly of TT to his brother John. Cam Cameron is a great offensive mind and has helped to develop both Flacco and Rivers. Tyrod's in good hands and regardless of when he got picked that was the best thing that could have happened to him.
Also I'm devastated for the guys who didn't get selected, especially Evans who was advised by the NFL that he'd be a 4th-7th round pick. I'm sure if he was told he would have gone undrafted it would have changed his decision making process.
Big Congrats to Tyrod Taylor!!! Glad the Ravens is giving this man a chance to shine in NFL!
Congrats to RMFW!
Sure hope that is a Saturday kickoff instead of a Monday night. I have not-too-pleasant memories of sprinting to catch the last Metro out of Fed Ex in a sea of Orange and Blue who were all enjoying the beer of their lives it seemed
I hope TT, RW, DE, and all the other Hokies in the draft have a great weekend.
We play Cincinnati in FedEx, that should be a romp. If PSN is still down by then, get an XBox.
Lane of course, but I would also settle for another FedEx field kickoff if that were the case
Kickoff in Lane or PSN is fixed?
My PS Network Withdrawal symptoms are nearing my College football withdrawal symptoms at this point....
I wonder if that means he's wanting to transfer to WFVU?
Definitely unexpected, but could be a great move. He's got Adrian Peterson size and must move well in space for the whip spot. He played running back in high school, but I can't find his numbers anywhere.
Guess this means that James Hopper isn't blowing anyone away as the #3 back.
Definitely saw Lyndell Gibson rocking a WVU hat in the stands. Boo-urns
I didn't see anything from the offensive line that made me believe we could somehow be worse in 2011, but I didn't see anything that made me believe we would be better. At least we didn't have trouble with the snap... I just want to see all five guys establish a new line of scrimmage forward three yards. Is that so much to ask?
Jayron put Becton's panties on the turf with the juke he gave him.
I expect a lot more of the four-wide set for the offense. I'm really hoping Dyrell can get back to 100% so we can have him in the return game.
Having Dyrell back would be optimal, but if he's not I feel a little bit better with D.J. Coles and E.L. Smiling getting some ball their way after strong springs.
There were a ton of former players in town. Friday night I saw Macho and Marcus Vick at Sharkeys. We were running late on Saturday morning, so just decided to hit downtown again before the game instead of tailgating on campus. Back to Sharkeys we went, and as we were sitting at the bar, Deangelo Hall rolled in with (I think) Darryl Tapp and a few other people. They didn't stay long, but my friend did get a fist bump from D Hall as they were leaving. We went to Big Al's at one point on Friday night, but, as usual, it was too crowded to move in there, so we didn't stay long. I heard there were a bunch of former players hanging out in there though. I'm sad though that I didn't acheive my ultimate goal of seeing Michael Vick out anywhere over the weekend. Its awesome that Bruce Smith was back in town too. I have a picture of me and him together on Bourbon Street.

Why do I feel like Corso just put on a Hokie head and picked us to win the big game....
