yes, crazy amount of talent there.
VT didn't do as much as others as far as jr days, seeming to put most of their eggs in the spring game and the week that led up to that (spring break for most of the prospects.) let's be honest, april in blacksburg will be more positive to recruits than february or early march.
only the ill-fated 2005 miami game had more talent is the rumor. This is certainly the best collection of talent on campus that wasn't a game or a camp.
hopefully you get a nice group think going on.
i expect 1 or 2 more recruits over the next day or 2 and then a few more trickling in with the next month. i also like our chances with a big time state recruit by the end of the june camp put on by the coaches.
Was the buzz around the Spring Game as far as recruiting concerned legit? The crowd, NFL players, new coaches, the peer pressure of all the recruits being there at once...seems like quite the production that would be hard to resist. Has VT ever looked better?
Der'Woun Greene a 5'10" athlete/free safety from IC Norcom (same school as baskeball's Dorian Finney-Smith) might commit.
let it frye!
explain to me again why I am not going to blacksburg this weekend?
According to Kyle Tucker it was on 9 carries which comes out to a solid 4.33 yard per carry.
I guess the Mark Leal vs. Ju-Ju battle could become another point of focus during the Maroon vs. White game.
Last night's episode was pretty awesome. Tyrod came off looking very classy, and from what I could tell he looked adept throwing the ball. His mechanics and accuracy have come a long way since 2007.
I don't have any doubts about Logan's physical tools, but we need him to be the leader that Tyrod was and I'm not sure anyone can live up to that.
From a puking freshman to a redshirt sophomore leader at QB. Saturday can't come soon enough, ready to watch how the Hokies have grown throughout spring ball.
Trailer for the Year of the Quarterback. Interesting game audio not heard over the air.
I would just like to remind fans that LT is not the next anyone but is the first LT and will make his own impact with his own style.
Well said, and I totally agree, let's not throw the weight of the world on his shoulders, see what he can do, and be pleasantly surprised if he's ahead of the curve.
I like betting rails, so:

- Offense: Randall Dunn; Defense: Detrick Bonner
• President's Award (players who demonstrate the most outstanding leadership during the offseason program and spring workouts)
– Offense: Logan Thomas; Defense: James Gayle
• Dr. Richard Bullock Award (players who show the most improvement during spring workouts)
– Offense: David Wang; Defense: Alonzo Tweedy
• Frank O. Moseley Award (players who exhibit the most hustle during the offseason and spring workouts)
– Offense: David Wilson; Defense: Eddie Whitley
• Coaches Award (players who had an exceptional spring)
– Offense: Marcus Davis; Defense: Derrick Hopkins
• George Preas Award (MVP's of spring practice)
– Offense: David Wilson; Defense: James Gayle
• Don Williams TEAM UNITED Award (the offensive and defensive player who put the team first)
– Offense: Chris Drager; Defense: Barquell Rivers
The answer to everyone's question is simple: This is what a being a Hokie is, nothing more and nothing less.
Go Hokies!
At least the 225g part? That's insane.
I for one love when science proves my imagination right.
I'm drooling... Do they allow non-athletes to visit the facility? I'm sure I contributed money into it one way or another.
I know E.L. Smiling and Jerome Lewis have grabbed some balls during the scrimmages so at least some of the youth is stepping up and making the most of their opportunities. Hopefully the 2012 class can land one stud receiver.
It is really pimped out. Recruits definitely have to be impressed with it. It was a pretty awesome decision by the Frankinator to make the lockers 1" bigger than the biggest out there.
Agree with Joe on the fact that DW just seems like that type of guy. He doesn't seem the type who wants run off to the money immediately. He's having success in two sports, seems to love Hokie fans, and really enjoying being a college student while he can be.
Our depth at wide receiver will certainly take a big hit after this season but that could easily change with a good recruiting class this year. Remember when all of these guys were freshman receiving a lot of criticism? That ended up working out alright, didn't it?
I think the offensive line also certainly has potential to be weak but it seems as though the coaching staff has been working to build not only the first five but some of the back ups as well.
I honestly hope Dyrell does not redshirt this season. I would rather see him out there with the rest of his class giving it one last run.

The screened in part at the bottom of the locker serves as the inlet for air return and as storage for the shoulder pads when not bing worn, which helps dry out the pads and pumps the stink out of the building.
ASME took a tour of the mechanical room last fall with the guys that did the HVAC layout. The players were still in the locker room, so we couldn't go in there. Did get to see the room with the pool tables though.
Awesome post!
well done
The Frankinator is about to make a pick from the guy in the orange jacket and he signalling he is taking it to the house.
The BCO and I were talking about the 2012 line last night. We were both giddy about Wang at guard and the toughness he along with Miller and Via are slated to bring. We have a lot of talented freshman and sophomores that will hopefully develop into a couple of good ones.
Responsibilities in the passing game.
Maybe it was because of his limited time to embrace the transition, but I thought that Taylor looked uncomfortable at backer for the Orange Bowl. I think MLB is his playmaking position, since every time he breathes it's a tackle for loss, but I hate to think of Barquell not being able to contribute much his senior year.

I will start by saying that I was overly impressed with the way that Logan Thomas played the quarterback position on Saturday. He was making great reads, throwing the ball with plenty of zip, and the way he moved in the pocket was probably what impressed me most. Logan keeps his eyes down field at almost all times and he was also looking off receivers and hitting the check-downs when necessary. He made a few throws into tight windows, two resulted in interceptions, but at the same time those were very catchable balls, because he had enough zip on the ball to get them there. The way that LT3 moved in the pocket was most impressive to me and a very underrated quality in a quarterback in my opinion. He just has a knack for feeling pressure and moving in the pocket to avoid that pressure. He only escapes the pocket when absolutely necessary and does a better job of keeping his eyes down field while outside the pocket then Tyrod did at the same time in his career.
Marcus Davis is a beast and what we will see between him and LT3 in the next two years is something to get excited for. I also think that David being such a big athletic target helps Logan look more accurate. With someone that is this athletic you have to assume if you place the ball near him he will go get it and I think this spring has shown Logan has already devloped this trust for Marcus.
I am prepared to help Joe drive this bandwagon of Coale for punter, mostly because everything else I was at the punter position was extremely disappointing. The 53 yarder that was blasted of Danny's foot and almost downed at the one yeard line sold me immediately.
Finally, the offensive playcalling seemed to have changed already, not sure if it was due to the fact that this was jsut a scrimmage, David Wilson was not there, or they just want to get LT3 as many reps throwing the ball as possible, but it seemed to me we were going down field a lot more than usual, even more than past spring games. Overall, I was impressed with what we showed on offense and I am looking forward to September.
*Defensive thoughts to come
