I'm in.

It was nice to see these guys finally show some signs of life and step it up.
Stanford woke a sleeping Giant in the Oregon game.
If it took 9 years of OTJ training to reach this, then we get a good O-coordinator AND staff loyalty until Beamer retires. That would make the coaching staff very unique.
gobbler receives ... a lil tossed salad action?

If a player can be reasonably assured they're going to be drafted within the first two rounds then they need to declare for the draft. I think both Evans and Williams have a very good shot of going in the first two rounds, Williams being more guaranteed than Evans.
The problem is Williams is a 1st round talent, but because of a slow start and hamstring injury he wasn't able to definitely prove it. His decision revolves around how much money he's leaving on table.
From what I've read Evans will graduate in the spring, and I think his stock is as high as it can go. He had an outstanding season, and proved that he's not only a tough, but explosive runner. That makes me believe he's gone.
the 5th Ent ... dint make Peter Jackson's cut.

If Williams goes later in the draft, it's to a better team that can help in transition and not necessarily have to rely on him right away. Could be incentive to go, knowing you will have a career versus up front money (see Drunkonmiller.)
Just thinking out loud...
I think is looking to support his family and doesn't want to risk another possible injury. I think he is also close to graduating.
But could definitely happen.
We still probably win 10 games in that scenario thanks to our 4th grade schedule.
I'd move Oglesby back to tailback and rely (I know it's hard) on a veteran offensive line to make holes for Wilson and Josh. Go back to run, run, play action, punt and hope that the salty defense does it thing. The senior receiving corps probably gets screwed out of this move.
The likelihood of the defense being ABLE to do its thing is good considering we have relative plug-ins depth-wise (no real upgrades):
- Carmichael out - Fuller in (slight loss given Fuller's apparent instincts)
- Morgan out - Exum in (if we play him at rover - I'd say this is about even if X plays the way he did in the first half of the season)
- Friday out - Gayle/Collins in (very slight loss, since Friday's breakout season came out of nowhere and the young DEs look great).
- Graves out - Battle/little Hopkins in - (relative loss - John's value is drawing double teams and generally disrupting the play)
I still think that Ryan comes back, though the Washington Post comments seem to imply otherwise. He's a 1st round guy that may not get picked there this year. I'm not sure of whether or not the difference between 1st and 2nd round money is enough to keep him at VT, but he has the perfect situation next year: 4/5 of the best and deepest line we've had in a while back, kick-ass blocking receivers, and a new QB who the coaches aren't going to throw into the fire too quick. Ryan is looking at 20 carries a game I think there, with David getting his turn and maybe doing more of the Percy Harvin thing (slot/WR stuff, not smoking weed).
reminds me of the 2004 game vs Auburn. We are a strong team that is is playing a team that COULD be in the national title game. Stanford has been strong all year (I watched 4-5 of their games because of Luck) and I think we will have our hands full.
I think Evans is ready to go as is.
I think Williams should stay on one more year though.
Good thing Wilson is around, best of the bunch too.
...please do your worst.

For real, juxtahokie went ham and more people need to get their mock on.
zomg i gots to get my pics on here. juxtahokie, you are KILLIN it.

GO HOKIES!
All nice and cool, but why did it take 9 years for Stiney to show something? Or was it Beamer that just wanted conservative mid 90's style of football all those years???
Why did Stiney have to be criticized for obvious and critical parts of the game such as red zone efficiency and 3rd down conversion to get it fixed? By default those should be top priority IMHO.
All that being said the Ofensive improvement this year was more than obvious. I'll wait and see how things look next year before giving Stiney a pass though
The real proof of him developing into a fine coordinator, manager and developer of the offense will be the progression of Logan Thomas and next year's output.
BS did a much better job this year, made adjustments and found a way to get the playmakers involved. Players responded, led by a veteran Senior quarterback. Kudos!
a helluva dump on Frankie. A full bucket and what a grimmace. At some point he will be too old for that. Someone else is getting dumped on in the background.
with some friends who's kid is in the F$U marching band. No one got really obnoxious but we did plant a VT flag in their front yard to counter their F$U. All in good fun and the game result was great. No gloating involved.
awkward family "tree" photos. ack ack.

I love the "tree" amigos.
