The lengthy delays between seasons should have had them alter the script to allow more time to pass in-universe. By the end you couldn't even pretend these kids were still underclassmen in high school, let alone the entire story start to finish happening in 3 years. It really distracts from the story when the actors all look 10 years older than the ages they are supposed to be portraying. That graduation ceremony at the end might as well have been for postgraduate degrees, not high school.
And everything that took place on the other planet except for the scene in the chamber was so obviously done in front of a green screen that it again just distracted a bit.
Which is a big difference from the first season when everything was a practical effect and it was all better for it

# | OT: Stranger Things Season 5 discussion thread (spoilers) I caught a good chunk of S1 during a marathon they were running yesterday. It definitely drew me in so I will be watching.
As for Stranger Things S5 I finally finished over the weekend. I agree with others that they did not really stick the landing here, but would say it was not nearly as disappointing as GOT. A lot of it does feel forced and I think it goes to show when you try to please everyone you end up pleasing no one. Overall though, I still enjoyed it.

I think that Franklin was a bit late to the portal, but i think that was hubris or dedication to his guys (he thought he had the guys he wanted/needed), not that he was against the portal. Last year showed he was willing to portal guys in to fix needs and i hopefully he will continue that mindset.

Think of it another way: Virginia Tech is ranked #9, we beat Miami at home but lose to them in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte. Should other teams who didn't play at all that weekend leap us and we get left out of the playoff?

One thing to watch out in the coming years is Franklin's ability to retain talent against the portal. I would like to believe, seeing how successful he is as a recruiter, that he'll do well (though I'm sure we'll still lose some folks due to the nature of the business).
