We can do worse than Woodson, but if we don't have better play than he can provide at MLB, the defense will have a long year next year regardless.
Have to take the money on Woodson and use it to try and get someone better.
Don't think it's an actual injury. If you know what I'm meaning
I don't even know how that compares to previous years.
Any idea what issue is?
Add Daniel Jennings to the list. Edge rusher from Princeton WV
Mullen with a 22-6 Tech fall. He is into the finals

I don't think Joseph is someone who would be a contributor at the P4 level.

Eddie V wins 8-3. The most lopsided match between the two. He is on to the finals
Warren Ruggiero
Longest Tenure: Offensive Coordinator at Wake Forest (2014–2024).
Ruggiero gained national fame for developing a unique offensive system at Wake Forest. In this scheme, the quarterback holds the ball in the stomach of the running back for an unusually long time (the "slow mesh"). This forces defenders to commit to the run or the pass, allowing the quarterback to make a late decision based on the defense's movement.
Key Career Achievements
- Record-Breaker: At Wake Forest, his offenses set nearly 400 school records. In 2021, the team averaged 41.0 points per game, one of the highest marks in ACC history.
- Broyles Award Finalist: In 2021, he was a finalist for the Broyles Award, which recognizes the top assistant coach in college football.
- Quarterback Developer: He has a reputation for "QB whispering," having coached notable players like Sam Hartman, John Wolford, and Jamie Newman (Wake Forest), as well as Josh Freeman (Kansas State).
Coaching History Years School Role
- 2026–Present Virginia Tech Senior Offensive Analyst
- 2025 Iowa Senior Football Analyst

- 2009–2013 Bowling Green Offensive Coordinator / QBs
- 2008 Kansas State Quarterbacks Coach

Franklin hire has me so excited about recruiting and transfer portal I'm tempted to get a 247 sub. Just want the info so bad lol. Miss the old rivals 600-600 text
Glad he's getting an opportunity, sucks to have your name tainted by being associated with Liberty though
Paying players and paying the right players is a very important distinction.
I saw the Campbell score and thought he got bulldozed, just realized on team twitter he was up 13-2 and got pinned. Damn that's tough.
Thanks, Joe. Love the way this team fought through the adversity to grind out the win.
Holy gazoones lofton is still playing?
Agree with this take. I see it as a Mose Phillips type situation. Very athletic player, but not technically sound. Looking for more money and the staff didn't agree.
BTW - Mose had 5 tackles this year for Mizzou.
The struggle is so painfully real
Listening to the TSL pod, Chris Coleman brought up the point that Franklin needed someone with experience recruiting the south (Carolinas, ATL, etc) and that's a reason why Brooks was replaced with McKenzie - Everyone else on the staff so far had mostly mid-atlantic/VA ties.
I'm curious to see if the remaining secondary coach is someone with more experience recruiting/ties to the southeast.
I've been a VT fan since 2008. I've seen 2.5 years of fun offense (2016, half of 2019, half of 2023, half of 2024).
Don't know how many years running I've said this. Must be about 10 now...ahh one of these years it'll happen right?
