I'm not arguing that part at all. His defenses at Penn St. were good. What I'm talking about is the fact that we just fired him because he couldn't deliver, and now we're talking about letting him right back in the locker room. The same locker room that he lost in it's entirety by halftime against ODU.
The numbers are technically facts, from previous polls, that are historic examples

Add Dyrell Roberts to that list
Congratulations @Dyrell_Roberts on being named to @WeAreAFCA 35 under 35! 🏴☠️ pic.twitter.com/ioQpWsTgkD— ECU Football (@ECUPiratesFB) December 8, 2025
Ole Miss can fuck right off too, I hope they never win another game again.
I wouldn't go as far to say they shouldn't win another game, but yeah they can for sure fuck off
Pointing this out just makes me want to double down on the orange and maroon glasses.
Gotta get you some overly large fitover glasses

It was so fun when the ND fans were amazed we were there and so vocal.
Probably a scissor lift.
One person (maybe bar) mentioned him as a candidate. The primary reason behind hiring him was trying to sprinkle James Franklin magic on Blacksburg, he was the choice because he was a great DC and former Hokie.
The "we wanted" is referring to the fact we hired him, not any message board or fan clamoring for him.
...asking for a friend, what's the Notre Lame version of Crumbl cookies? Tissues by the pallet?
Pry failing at VT, especially if it is BAD in the first year or two, has the potential to ruin not only Pry's entire career, bit their friendship as well. I'm just saying it is a huge gamble, and I am hoping that both guys are justifiably confident it will succeed, or prepared for the aftermath when it doesn't.
Unfortunately, given the shit show we have been through since the Tyrod days, I am not prepared for the aftermath. Franklin, Whit, the BOV, etc. will have lost all my faith if this fails.
A different view - Imagine Pry went to another peer school, say Syracuse, Kentucky, or even BC, and failed as a HC, but has the same Defensive Coordinator resume and relationship before with Franklin, and was willing to step back into a DC role for VT. We would all be thrilled.
We should also assumed he learned a lot about himself, what needs to learn and grow from, and how to level up over the last 3 years.
Matt Schaub was the QB that beat us in 2003. I know because I was in 4th grade and positively devastated.
Would they have to share the house?
One way to take this is that the university gave Franklin the leeway to hire whomever he saw fit, regardless of the budget and/or what the athletic department/fans thought of it.
What about the part where Duke beat uva for that ACC football championship, and their place in that game was determined by the outcome of a game between SMU and Cal?
And in another PI plug, Michael Felder recently discussed the train-wreck that was UNC and pointed out that the two units in football most in need of cohesion were OL and defensive secondary. The existence of so many first-year-with-the-program guys seems likely to result in a lot of man coverage, and a lot of QBs running for their lives against it. Certainly we saw the problems that we lacked enough experience to play zone, and lacked the raw talent to play man.
Either the conference championship games count or they don't. Can't have Championship winners get an advantage without giving the loser a disadvantage. And you definitely can't count a loss against BYU and not Bama. Both of those teams got drilled and should have been out of the top 12.
And I don't think a team with no P4 wins should be ranked ahead of any P4 champ. Happy for JMU but they have no business being in the CFP this year. This is a P4 centric championship, you should have to have won at least one game against a P4 to qualify.
Ditto! Bro, Ditto!
That's badass for sure. That is an awesome picture.
We wanted Pry when he was Franklin's DC
Forgive me if I am wrong, but wasn't targeting/hiring Pry on no one's radar? I don't remember anyone clamoring for Pry before it was announced, but then once it was, it was more rationalizing the hire because he was a "great DC and former Hokie."

Fine, there's more parity.
Not enough though. Ole Miss can fuck right off too, I hope they never win another game again.
This is the College Football as a whole thread, not the orange and maroon glasses VT fan thread.
Pointing this out just makes me want to double down on the orange and maroon glasses.
And it's not like Pry has been away from football. He's just been away from good football. Should come back to him pretty quickly.

I mean when he came out as the place holder on the kick we shoulda known something was up
