If that's the case, why put together a top 25 recruiting class in two weeks?
All the Pry haters need to take chill pill. Franklin did it at Vandy with Pry, again at Pedo State with Pry, so why not do it here with Pry.
He's said it himself many times, he wants to win a national championship and if Pedo State doesn't want him to do it there, he'll do it somewhere else. If he thinks Pry gives him the best chance of doing that, then go for it. Actually, if he wins a natty here, idgaf if Howdy Fucking Doody is the DC. Just win. Go Hokies!
yea, I don't feel strongly either way tbh. I would've been fine if ND got in instead of Bama. Also, both teams will be back in the future so whatever 🤷
I do believe that the conference championship game should be a 'free roll' and teams shouldn't get penalized for playing an extra game.
But then where would James Johnson go?
High school relations or some blend of recruiting and defensive analyst
He just got a fat paycheck for being fired. In an immoral and extremely unlikely scenario he agreed to coach VT to coast along and get fired again for another fat paycheck.
We started fighting back in mass on what was once the Prairie with the Cadets leading a hard charge. The combined forces of O'Shag, Lee, and Pritchard pushed the Cadets back to the Upper Quad's Lane Hall. At that point, it was a stalemate. It was an absolute blast. Exhausting, but loads of fun
Was this the winter of 1979-80? If so, I was there and involved. Was a blast!
We all hope your Dad Rest In Peace and that your family finds solace. The ability to chase your dream to the extent he did is something we should all aspire to do. >8500 of 11,000 is amazing!
counterpoint. This CFP is (and always has been) a complete sham and neither Bama nor ND should be in it at all because neither of them won a conference championship.
Start there. Make Conf. Championship victory a requirement for the CFP and you solve ALL SORTS of problems.

Got three replies so I'm just giving one reply, not necessarily directed at you, bar.
Three losses. One to FSU. Bad bad loss
ND had more rushing yards on conference champ weekend than Alabama.
ND trending strongly. Bama leaking oil.
on the one hand, I'm surprised the ACC was coordinated enough to even execute a campaign to single out ND in the ACC's favor
Secondly, let me just play my tiny little violin for ND. Those whiney arrogant fucking assholes can shove it with their misplaced ire. The ACC has bent over backwards for them and given them everything without taking an ounce and now they want to spit in the ACC's face? Fuck off with that nonsense. Entitled Charmin-soft pricks.
Join a fucking conference or shut the fuck up. Douchebags.
You've proven that every other team in Bama's position would've stayed in? Well then congratulations to BYU for making the playoff.
Facts, numbers, previous polls, historic examples. The way you prove things.
Is being a smarmy asshole against CG's? Because it probably should be. Nothing you listed besides numbers have been provided by the way.
Sorry to hear of your loss. Wishing you peace in these moments. Take time to grieve in your own way.
Meh, Notre Dame was never going to join as a full member of the ACC for football regardless, so I'm not at all bothered that they're upset about the ACC acting in the best interests of the ACC.
his point (and neither of us actually think this is happening, but it is a remote possibility) is that JMFF isn't here to win but is just in it to keep himself busy and hang out with his buddies. He's paid. He's golden. He doesn't need to work. That's his point (regardless of whether or not he actually believes it)
If you had told me in 2004 that someday VT would win ACC in basketball and 3 years later Duke would win ACC football...
It's only meaningful that he IS playing in the NFL. Someone sees something, and putting their dollar where their mouth is.
I think if we get the talent that we expect to get under JMFF our defense will be fine. Probably not great, but fine. (Pry's defense at PSU)
I think the more interesting question is who will be our Offensive and Special Teams coaches. VT hasn't had a consistently good offense, like, ever. We've had a couple of decent offensive output seasons but they were largely on the backs of elite talent more so than coaching. One could even argue that those offenses were good in spite of the coaching. We've been pining for competent offensive coaching for years. Are we finally going to get that under JMFF or is Blacksburg truly a cursed town where offense comes to die?
Stu Holt has been probably the worst coach on staff since Newsome and it's not really even close. I don't want him anywhere near anything related to football in Blacksburg. (side note: when I saw us try to run the opening kick off out of the back of the end zone vs UVA last weekend I knew we were cooked. WTF was our ST thinking?)
I don't think Bo Nix is actually very good. I think Bryce Young has been considerably better this season given their situations. The Broncos have an uber elite defense and OL. Bo occasionally makes plays, but he is not a good QB down to down.
It's not really meaningful to me in any significant way.
This offseason people though Klubnik and Allar were going to be the best QB's in football, and I said over and over again if that was the case it would be the worst year of college QB play in history.
If the only thing that matters in college football is the playoff, then you would be correct.
I get it. Sometimes the proof is in the numbers. The only ones successful in the NFL currently are those that were above 90 QBR...that's probable the best marker that comes from all of this.
in the last three years, in particular, is that the football has been of a lower quality.
I'm open to this argument - especially in the transfer portal era. Phantom Island did a great podcast where they explained (with data) how Offensive Line transfers has resulted in simplified offensive scheme.
I don't have data on this second point, but I also hypothesize that the transfer portal has reduced QB development.
My first rule of thumb is does the blocker maintain feet chop at contact. If he does, you can add technique and strength. Simpson has terrific feet so he checks the critical block, but needs work on lower body strength and technique.

We had ESPN headlines yesterday that kept VT in the news on CFP Selection Day. Coincidental timing - I think not.
