Marshall Vent Thread

Yeah, a vent thread is appropriate. Moral victories aren't acceptable anymore.

The positive: I was going to say the "fight" that the team shows to the very end, however when we only see that type of play for the last few minutes of the game is it really a positive?

The negative: Probably everything else.

There isn't another win on the schedule. welcome to 1-11 FAM.

WEEK 4: OTHER GAMES THREAD

Link: College Football Game Viewing Guide

Week 4 started off with a bit of a dud on Thursday. The lone FBS matchup was a promising sounding Sun Belt dustup, but Georgia State is a lot better than Coastal Carolina and the outcome was clear by halftime.

Tonight in the Friday matchups we get a few decent sounding conference faceoffs to pick from: Wiscy @ Purdue, NCST @ UVa, AFA @ SJSU, Boise @ SDSU.

Foster Tunnel?

Kind of had a random thought - I feel like Bud hasn't really gotten his "official" flowers yet. I know it's coming but I've been pondering how Whit & Co. is going to go about it.

Beamer has a statue, a street, a locker room, and the practice facility named after him. Bud deserves to have his piece as well.

This may be a really dumb or brilliant idea (which is why I'm bringing this up to the forum). Some rich donors should give money to the football program under the condition that the tunnel the players run out of for Enter Sandman will be renamed "Foster Tunnel". If they're going to make a Foster statue, put it right outside the damn tunnel entrance.

Pry-ssr Marshall 2023

No silly title for this one, thundering turd is too cliche. I think Marshall and white water rafting might be the only good things to come out of West VA, so I'm leaving them alone.

It's been about 8 years, but once upon a time Virginia Tech was relevant in college football

I thought this was interesting. Even though the Hokies are in the basement now, it wasn't that long ago they were a relevant college football program.

Travel Problems To Rutgers?!?!?

Not if sure if this needed a thread so it can be deleted but thought this was interesting. While watching College Gameday, they did a quick mention that after the long delay at last weeks game that the team had some travel problems and didnt arrive to Rutgers until late last night. Anyone heard anything about this?

Athletic Department Leadership Promotions

Interesting timing on this announcement. Take in for what you will, maybe Whit is brushing his shoulders off at Mickey, maybe this furthers your opinion that the AD is a good ole boys club, maybe everyone just had a great performance review this year.

"I'm proud of our leadership team," Babcock said. "Each of them are incredibly talented in their own right and they complement each other greatly, as a team. I lean on them daily and am grateful for their commitment to our department and student-athletes. They make us better and these title promotions more accurately reflect their duties and roles."

Greg schiano thought the 2011 bowl game Rutgers played against Tech was good for the sport and really helped advance the game.

ACC Expansion: PAC-12 Complications

Issue#1 Remaining members Oregon State and Washington State (PAC-2) filed a legal complaint against the PAC-12 conference, essentially arguing that since the other 10 schools left, they no longer have voting rights. So far, a judge has ruled in favor of the PAC-2 and barred a PAC-12 meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
This issue could get much more complex if the PAC-2 win sole voting rights and, say, vote to keep all the bowl and NCAA tournament revenue to themselves.

Pry-ssr Piscataway Queensmen 2023

  • Starts by thanking the fans and facilities workers. Knows that was a long day for everyone and was happy to see the fans come back and be rowdy.
  • Knows the Rutgers staff well from time in the B1G. Always stingy on defense
  • Obviously, we need to be better. Feels like the staff has identified areas where the team can improve.

Will Stewart: "Very Possible" that Wells is not healthy enough to play this week

From the opening few minutes of the TSL Purdue Recap Podcast:

Very Possible that Wells is not healthy enough to play this week. My understanding is that even on sunday he couldn't push of his ankle. A tremendous amount of swelling and a lot of pain. He should not have played in hindsight in the second half. I don't know if half time was long enough for them to get a full medical diagnosis on him, but probably shouldn't have played.

Sounds like Drones is likely starting.

'Advanced' analytics round up, 2 weeks in

So, I'm not a data scientist, but I do consume a lot of stuff on *air quotes* "advanced analytics" stuff. I thought it would be interesting to start high level, dive a little bit deeper, then dive even deeper. I'm mostly looking at the offense, I'm kinda focusing on the stuff I feel like I have a good handle of (meaning that I understand - at least theoretically - how the metric is calculated, and what on field behavior it represents), and I'm skipping over the stuff I don't understand.
