Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.
Watching ECU standing tough with Tulane tonight. Bad look for Sumrall if they lose this game. Currently Tulane up 19-16 but ECU with the ball.
Update: ECU tied at 19 but Tulane drove 75 yards to win on a TD with 35 seconds remaining.
USF goes to undefeated North Texas.
#1 OSU at #17 Illinois...kind of expect this to be a blowout. Seems bettors do too. That Indiana game just looms over Illini.
#8 Bama at #14 Mizzou. Hoping Tigers pull the upset.

The Hokies finished up week six with a loss to Wake Forest that would be infuriating if it wasn't at least somewhat expected. Good teams have won more than six regular season games at least once in the last five years. Good teams don't make the same mistakes week after week, year after year. But still, the game was there for the taking.

We are now a few weeks out from Pry being fired, plus the announcement of new funding going into the athletic department, and about a week out from that funding being approved by the BoV. But the initial relief of Pry being fired + a plan being put in motion to finally invest like we should have been all along has begun to give way to a sense of doubt for me.
The messaging around all of this has been nothing short of an absolute mess.

No need for a Vent Thread as there really is nothing to vent about. We are a bad team, coached by people who aren't very good at their jobs, playing some really bad football. It's about that simple.
The frustration today is that this game was not only winnable, but winnable with ease. We should have cruised into halftime with a double digit lead and then leaned heavy on the run the entire second half.
Nope. We fooled around with asking Drones to do way to much early. We had two back breaking penalties that resulted in 14 points. And Monty may have mismanaged the final couple of minutes of the first half worse than Pry would have.

Weird week from ACC as there were no Thursday or Friday night games. Maybe playoff baseball impacted the schedule.
ACC game of the week should be #3 Miami at #18 FSU.
UVA is ranked but goes up against 4-0 Loserville on the road.
Guess we get to see which of Clemson or UNC are the bigger dumpster fire.
SEC has #16 5-0 Vandy at #10 Alabama.
I am interested to see how Boise State fairs at Notre Dame. Irish bounced back after to ranked losses to put up 56 points in back to back weeks. Boise is 3-1 but got destroyed by USF to start the season.
What else are people watching?
For the night owls, WVU at BYU kicks off at 1030pm tonight on ESPN.

List seems to grow by the week.
Surprised to see Peterkin on the Questionable list. Six Wide Receivers on the report is no Bueno, regardless if most wouldn't have played much anyway.

Just watched a replay of last night's game on Youtube. It was weird, lots of AI stuff happening which was unsettling enough, but then the game veered into fantasy or something. I'd listened to the game last night, had the score in my head when I went to bed and informed the wife.
However, the game we saw today had a final score of 42 - 40, with us still winning by the same margin, but a ton of scores I didn't hear last night. At first, we were worried about my brain, seriously, but then I looked it up and saw that no, didn't happen that way.
I know you guys know this computer stuff, so could anyone enlighten me here? WTF!!!

Can't believe there's no fam thread yet..
Monty might have just gotten a better win than Pry did in his entire tenure.
Also TERION STEWART.
I award myself no points, and may God have mercy on my soul.

It is an unfortunate truth about Philip Montgomery that he is already doing things that Brent Pry never achieved at Virginia Tech in his first games as interim head coach. While it is easy to point out that it took two games for Montgomery to achieve a one-score victory (something Pry only achieved against a Liberty team whose coach had one foot out the door in 2022), last night's victory at Carter-Finley Stadium represented something we haven't seen since the previous interim head coaching run. Virginia Tech won a road conference game as an underdog, last achieved by J.C. Price against Virginia (who CBS Sports had listed as -7 favorites) in 2021.

Heard through the grapevine that Jeff King will be tech's new general manager. It is in the works.
