Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.
VT 17 in latest AP Poll
Virginia Tech is ranked 17th and Ohio State drops to 22 in the latest AP Poll. There is much work to be done but the HOKIES are moving in the right direction.

Season Ticket Process?
Dumb question, but how exactly do season football tickets work? Costs, etc? I checked hokie tickets but isn't exactly clear how you go about getting them. Are there minimum donation levels to get them?
Looks like new helmets next week
Hokie Stone in the background? I'd love a maroon helmet with VT in Hokie Stone.
Why this win matters so much
Hokienation.
Context:
I grew up in PA in a B1G family, Mich, MSU, Minn, and PSU. Fully immersed in the legends of JoePa, Schembeckler, Carr, horseshoe, and B1G football. I didn't even know who VaTech was until they recruited me to swim there. My parents asked if it was a 4 years degree, ha! Showed up to school in '99 and scoffed at this "JV team" led by a flashy QB named Vick. After a few games, numerous blocked punts, a few Vick flips, Moore sacks, and Engleberger body slams I realized how wrong I was about the "JV" part and was hooked. Hokies played amazing team football and found ways to coach coach-up walk-ons to an elite level and they were crushing people.
Game is replaying on ESPNU now
I've got nothing better to do
A call to all fellow TKP students
We have to keep this going. We can't go back to barely filling out the student section and letting all the freshmen sit. I somehow ended up in section 29 vs W&M and the whole section except for my buddies were sitting. I've been coming to games for years and that's just not acceptable. I challenge you to get as many students that you know to come to all our upcoming games, and to make it to the 4th quarter without leaving. This is our year if we make it so. The team is doing their part. Now its time to show everyone why no one steps in our lane.
What's a Hokie???
I love Brewer's quote in the post game "I'm supposed to say I am"
How was your OSU experience?
I wanted to gauge how everyone was treated in Columbus. I heard some sketchy things about them before getting to OSU but overall, I was pretty impressed.
1. Friday night at the bars: Not many people wearing OSU gear which I thought was strange, but most people ignored us wearing our tech gear. Some people came up and welcomed us which was great.
2. Saturday BEFORE the game, no troubles, once again, a few people came up and welcomed us and wished us luck.
VT/OSU replay in 20 minutes
looks like a replay coming up in 20 minutes on ESPNU for anyone that may have missed it last night, or just wanna watch it again
Coaches Poll: VT #19, OSU #18
We're Back
Another long time reader taking the plunge with a post. This ESPN blurb caught my eye reading the game story: Welcome back, Virginia Tech. (see the side bar promoting the Austin Ward story)
Welcome back, Virginia Tech. That sounds nice after the last two seasons of frustrating football.
Footage of downtown last night
This was Main St and College Ave last night at about 12:30. Absolutely nuts but it seemed like people were more having a good time than trying to riot. There was a car that got caught in the middle of this and people were banging on it and jumping off it (thankfully no one tried to flip it), a streetlamp had the cover knocked around, and people climbing the traffic lights were arrested, but other than that I think it was pretty tame. I did hear that there was a couch on fire down Roanoke St and plenty of fireworks were going off.
Deon Clarke
Deon was named Walter Camp national defensive player of the week. Stat line reads 10 tackles,2 tackles for loss, 1 sack and one pass breakup! Great game and great recognition for a young guy and gets the spotlight nationally even more on the Hokies!
ESPN Last Night/This Morning
To their credit, they have not really made excuses for Ohio State losing. They have been very complimentary of Virginia Tech as a whole. I know allot of us thought it was going to be different, but you have to give credit where credit is do!
Bitter blog - Five thoughts the day after the Hokies' win at Ohio State
Just wanted to congratulate Va Tech on a great win last night.
I created this account just to congratulate you guys on a game well played. Sure there were a few mistakes on both sides.. But..
As a Buckeye homer, my first tendency was to lay blame for the loss, on our O-line, and the play calling. But that would be a disservice to Va Tech. Bud Foster showed everyone why he is one of the best Coordinators out there. Your kids played great. And the Va Tech fans that I met last night were a lot of fun to hang out with. Some even tailgated with us for a while.
Although I'm disappointed with the loss.. I still, thoroughly enjoyed the night. Looking forward to the return trip next year so you can repay the favor. Haha.
Scot Loeffler has to take great joy in quieting the 'Shoe
The guy played and coached at Meeechigan, and now he strolls into the 'Shoe, an unassuming underdog with the "lowly" Hokies. And, he executes a *very* nice game plan. I'm no X's and O's guy, but I know football. And he executed an excellent game plan against a top-5 national OSU defense.
Brewer, our OL, WRs/TEs will get much of the credit. And well-deserved it is. But, let's remember what Lefty did here. It was an excellent game plan. And, I am convinced we are starting to see what Lefty and the O staff can do now that we have the "Jimmy and Joe's" to go with his "X's and O's".
He must be on cloud-9!
Go HOKIES!!!!
An Amazing Night
Proud to be a Hokie. I had a good feeling about this game going into it, but I was still nervous about it. I loved the way this team stepped up. We knew that the defense would play well and that Bud would have the team ready to shut OSU down. We looked fast and knew what we were doing due to great coaching. We pressured the QB and our secondary was ready to jump on passes.
A few thoughts:
Lost in all this jubilation - Someone buy Stacy Searels a friggen drink
We just watched an Offensive Line keep our QB off his butt against an elite defensive line over the course of 60 minutes on the road in front of the largest, most hostile road crowd Virginia Tech has ever faced. If you told me 2 years ago that our Offensive Line would be a major catalyst to a win over a Top 10 Ohio State in The Shoe, I would have told you that you were insane.
I am just staggered by the word that he has put in this year (and a lot of credit also has to go to Grimes). Offensive Line looks like it might actually be a promising position going forward after being the single biggest team weakness over a decade.
So, to Mr Searels, I offer to you....
