Ladies and gentlemen it's here. The game we've had circled on our calendars since the horrific sun bowl, and one that seems like, on paper at least, that we have a real shot at winning. This game will be on national television and I don't think we can stress enough that we NEED this win. There will be tons of big name recruits at the horseshoe, and we have a young and exciting team coming in. Oh, and to top it all off, the entire country will be watching. No pressure added to the team or anything but this is a big deal, and Tech has been reeling a little bit these last two years.

80% Chance of Rain on Saturday ... Wind at 11mph. Still a little early, and I'm just planning what I need to wear for a day of tailgating. But wanted to see what role this could play in the game.
My initial thoughts is that this would just be a wash (Get it...rain, wash?) as both teams are going to be run-heavy, especially early. I do think this could eliminate the deep-play threat (slight VT edge? thought I'd like to unleash I.Ford on a seam route early).
Thoughts?

Hoping for this kind of rain instead

Say what you will about Ohio State, their fans and athletic department respect the Virginia Tech Hokies and the football program coach Frank Beamer created. After the student massacre at Virginia Tech, OSU was one of the Universities wearing Hokies helmets during game.
Also, in a recent interview Coach Urban admitted that he learned so much from Beamer about Special Team when Meyer was promoted from receiver to special team coach. Likewise, coach Scot Loeffler admitted he learned a lot working for coach Meyer at the University of Florida.

NFL starts tonight and weve got some guys playing under the lights.
Normally I would include all the games the first post of the week but, there is so much information that is wrong and still being entered, due to it being first week, it would be misinformation, at this point. I will update this again Saturday with the information for the rest of the games.

Most of us, including me, were not yet born the last time tOSU lost a home opener (1978). Bud Foster was a linebacker and strong safety at Murray State and had not yet crossed paths with Frank Beamer, who would join the staff the following year. In Columbus, they have a football tradition rivaled by few. They also have a current string of success. While we have endured two tough seasons, tOSU has completed two undefeated regular seasons. There is a reason the media is writing it up like they are.
The game poster at 11 Warriors shows an ax and a tree stump. What they dont know is that it is Moorehead and Co. who have been furiously choppin wood, day by day, piece by piece.

I came here at some point last year and have checked TKP everyday save maybe 4 or 5 days. The effort everyone puts in is stellar.
I legitimately think there is more info coming out this season when compared to last. More breakdowns, analyses, etc make the offseason and the start of this season that much more bearable.
I don't know how many new members there are to TKP but it feels like it has grown. It also seems to self govern itself pretty well which really is great. Every once in a while there are knuckleheads but it seems in the end it doesn't go too far. No one wants to ruin the great thing that so many of us share here.

My roommate's a Michigan man. He reminded me of an interesting euphemism for the buckeye faithful that may be of interest to folks attending the game:
For those who arrive on campus early, will there be enough toilets?
Ohio State hopes so and says it has learned its lesson from big matchups such as the Texas game in 2005, in which cleanup crews found several soiled shorts and a few coolers filled with poop.
"You either deal with the problem up front, or you deal with it later when it's ugly,"
Plan accordingly folks.

The ride home after the big game gets easier with each passing year. It was tough in 04 as a student riding back to Annapolis from Fed Ex nearly blacked out . A few months later in New Orleans, the trip back to the hotel was harder than USC's loss because we were one dropped pass in the endzone from a Sugar bowl win. The next day's 17 or so hour car ride was miserable. The following year I was stuck staying with Bulldogs fans who turned out to be inhospitable and made the 8 hour ride home only slightly less painful than the prior year's big loss. Thank God I wasn't in Baton Rouge for the next national stage meltdown in 07, but I did manage to make it to BOA stadium for the ECU debacle in 08.

Felt good to have college football back. Last weekend kicked the fall off nicely, even if my and most everyone else's picks sucked. Surprises, tight games, Les Miles being Les Miles, what more could you ask for? This week offers another solid week of OOC matchups and one really big, early Pac12 game. The national headliner is the Spartans of Michigan State heading to Eugene vs the Roboducks. This appears to be the first head to head game that will help shape the playoffs. If you can swing it, you should really have two TV's up on Saturday night.

Bigger misstep at Oregon in the last decade, RoboDuck circa 2003 or the 2013 hiring of Head Coach Mark Helfrich?

It seems only appropriate to post this CBS article considering some of the recent discussion here (and to also serve as a warning for Hokie fans making the trip to Columbus this weekend). Apparently, Ohio State's policy is against fans who stand during game play and they can now be anonymously reported via text. Here is the important part if you want to skip the article:

I just saw a post on TSL by someone with the same name I chose for this site.
I will change my name. That guy has had this name for a long time, apparently, and I want no confusion, and surely did not intend to pretend I was him. Totally coincidental.
I'll be changing my name, and I'll be back!
