He mentions that as a football player, his "hourly wage" was estimated to be $34.12.
In pure spending money (no food/rent/etc), he estimated roughly 12$ a day just for being a football player.

So today I was thinking to myself about Mike London and trying to figure out how he's still around. My hypothesis was that maybe UVA is holding on to him in hopes that they can replicate Frank Beamer's career where he struggled early but eventually transformed his team into a perennial powerhouse. London is going into his 6th season as UVA's head football coach so I looked up how Beamer did in his 6th season at VT:
A couple things popped out at me.
FOX Sports Stewart Mandel dropped his preseason bowl projections, and he pegged Virginia Tech (11-2) to win the ACC and head to Fiesta Bowl.

Some of us who spend a lot of time outdoors have speculated about when we first notice the turn of the season. While the other seasons trumpet their arrival, Fall has always been a bit more subtle. A slight difference in the way the sun comes through the window, or shines or sets on the river...a noticeable change in the coolness of the morning, the ripening or demise of plants we see every day. Today, my wife of more than 42 years called it. She looked at me and said, "Hey, it's Hokie time, isn't it?" I'd been restless, distracted, spending way more time on TKP than usual, and she noticed.
