Late ACC Coastal Games

Miami - GT
Pitt - UVA

Who are y'all cheering for?
I've got Miami for obvious reasons, but Pitt and UVa are 1-0 in conference. Screw the Hoos, but I wouldn't mind Pitt having a conference loss. I'm not looking forward to that one next week.

On the positive side...

Yes the OL is still is, and I'm being nice here, not good. The injuries to Marshawn and Edmunds stink as well. But let's look at the positives. UNC was leading the ACC in scoring coming into the game averaging 40 points a game. We were missing our best DT, his backup, and our starting corner and held them to 17 points and only gave up 323 yards as well. That is amazing if you ask me, how Bud does it I don't know but he somehow does. And not too mention a 5 star DE recruit down to UNC and VT got too see all of this in person especially Dadi and Ekanem wrecking havoc all day. I'm really proud of how the defense played today, angry and with a purpose. Also, IMO there is not more doubting who the best DB in the country is.

Trey Edmunds has broken clavicle

Good news on Williams. Really bad news for Edmunds, who worked really hard to get back this season. Looks like we are down two running backs now. I'm jumping on the Joel Caleb band wagon right about now.

VT-UNC drinking game

Warning: drink responsibly. Actually taking an entire drink for each of these will result in death.

anyone remember the drinking games tailgate fever used to put up on a semi-weekly basis? Let's put together one for this game. I'll start us off.

Take a drink when:

For those who need it: Watch VT vs. UNC live online @ 12:30pm

(ESPN3 access may be blacked out since I live in the area where it's on local tv so try it out & see for yourself)

Two ways to watch. I would recommend watching via WatchESPN as it will provide the best quality.

1) Go to WatchESPN.com
2) Click on Remote Access
3) It will ask you for your provider. Select Xfinity/Comcast
4) It should then take you to the Comcast login screen. Enter the following:
Username: VTFootball2014 Password: Hokie4lifE
(password is case-sensitive)
5) Once you click ok/sign-in, you should be redirected back to the WatchESPN website where you should now have access to the game. All you need to do is find it and click on it. Enjoy!

Helmets

I don't buy into the hype of the different uni's/helmets but this black Louisville helmet would look good with a maroon or orange VT on it.

Dre Bly talks shop with Kendall Fuller

A short, but interesting interview between former UNC and NFL Pro Bowl CB Dre Bly and Kendall. They talk a little bit about family success, Frank Beamer's legacy, and have a little fun talking technique. Is that Andrew Ford throwing the passes out there?

Recruits vs. Results Chart on Deadspin- Where VT Fits In

Take a look at this chart over on Deadspin's Regressing site if you haven't already about the results college football teams achieve versus the quality of recruits they sign:

http://regressing.deadspin.com/chart-which-ncaa-football-teams-outplay-t...

Very interesting to see that VT is pretty much dead center when it comes to obtaining results from the recruits they manage to land. You could certainly take issue with a little of the methodology here, but it's interesting nonetheless to see Tech in a similar area as TAMU and Clemson in this regard.

OT: Interactive College Football Fan Map via New York Times

This is pretty cool - The Upshot has made an interactive College Football Fan Map by county that will break down the fans of certain teams by using data from Facebook.

Click on the interactive map, zoom in and you can hover anywhere to find county and even zip code data of the break down of the teams that people like.

Just a note: In we have 16.7% Hokie Fans Albemarle County, VA, and even higher (20%'s) in the city zip codes!

CFB: Week 6 Viewing Guide

If there was one week to park your butt on the couch and marathon some college football, this is that week. It started last night with Arizona's upset win over Oregon in Autzen. With the turmoil in Michigan the last week, it only rubs salt into their wounds. If they would have just been a bit more patient with Rich Rodriguez, they may have had a special team right now.

The games continue on Saturday with 6 games between Top 25 teams. It is also the week where the SEC teams cannibalize themselves or a team separates themselves from the pack.

brief weather report

howdy everyone, unfortunately this has been a bit of a rough week as far as classes and work go so my report wont be longwinded (weather you prefer that or not). Regardless I'm still gonna fill yall in with whats probably going to be happening in UNC country.

id expect kickoff temperatures to be around 68-70 and reach a max of around 73 during the game
the low over the course of the night will dip down to the high 40s, 48 is probably a safe bet.
low to moderate winds
precip should all clear out friday night. Those of you making the drive expect some heavy bouts of rain here and there on the drive down, but it all should clear out come gametime and the morning before.

Kyle Fuller named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month

Not a huge surprise here to HokieNation, but Kyle Fuller is damn good. So good that he's been named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month. Check out some of the links below for more info but so far he's leading the league with three interceptions (tied with Super Bowl champ/veteran Malcolm Jenkins) and has forced two fumbles.
