Thomas in for Arizona
Stanton goes down, Thomas comes in. Lets see how he does in his first ever real NFL action.
Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.

With the Hokies on a bye week, it's a good time to keep track of the rest of the conference race. If we want to have a chance to play in Charlotte, we need GT to start losing.

Looks mostly the same across Virginia and DC. It looks like the only change is that the Roanoke/Blacksburg area gets the game on Fox 21/27 instead of WDBJ. I imagine it's due to CBS airing an SEC doubleheader starting at noon.
I'm stoked on the Win, but still not impressed. Just gonna name some things that stood out to me.
The Bad:
1. The O line penalties were inexcusable, was it 5 or 6 false starts?
2. sixth year senior Wang was getting pushed back all day by sophomore DT. He's undersized to be effective.
3. We got really lucky with some Bad UNC turnovers. (Not counting Fuller pick6, that was nasty)
4. Why haven't we gone to J.Caleb more in the run game? With the injuries in the backfield this was the game to get him some carries.
5. Brewer didn't have best protection but he is missing wide open WR and continues to make bad throws leading to INT.
"I'd love to tell you that Virginia Tech is a great defense and did something spectacular," Fedora said. "But it was whatever we could do wrong, whatever could go wrong for us offensively, went wrong the entire first half."

You mad bro?
Thursday night GB whacked Minn. Exum Vikings and Boykin GB didnt seem to have much of a role. Boykin is playing behind Jordy Nelson, whom is having a monster year so far.
Bears vs Panthers at Carolina, Sunday 1:00 PM Fox
Gotta watch this game to see the acrobatics of the best CB in the NFL right now.

23 Fuller, Kyle CB ACT 5'11" 190lb 0 years in NFL

Suck
- It looked good early and I thought we were going to run all over UNC. It was disappointing to see UNC stop the run as easily as they did after the first couple of drives
- OL penalties. I hope Searels has them running this week. Way too many false starts
- The coaching staff wanted to control the clock and they succeeded. We had the ball for over 2/3 of the game? That's impressive.
Terrible defense.
Highlights are online now and the complete game will be online later this afternoon/evening.
Phreak
Not being well versed in college rules. I and then fellow HOKIES I watched the game with today were surprised to see TJ Yates in his Falcons jersey on the UNC sideline with a headset on. Did anyone else notice this or have some insightful thoughts?
I've already posted versions of this in a couple of topics, but those will probably get buried.
First, for reference, the ACC tiebreakers: http://www.theacc.com/#!/page/ACC-Football-Championship-Tiebreakers
All of these scenarios assume that we win out, and end up 7-1 in conference, therefore giving every other Coastal team one loss.
There are three situations that would result in GT ending the season with a 7-1 conference record.
1.) They lose to an Atlantic team.
Everyone else in the Coastal would have at least two losses. GT wins head-to-head.
I made a visit to Hokiesports.com to take a gander at our offensive and defensive statistics through the first 6 games. Found some interesting bits.
For all of the images for team stats, the number on the left is for VT, right is opponents.
First, the team offensive stats:
Because the offense is converting 3rd downs at such a high rate (top 20 in the nation), we're killing it in time of possession, especially seen on display today vs UNC, where we held the ball for over 40 MINUTES. WHAT.
At least that's what Fedora believes....

Miami - GT
Pitt - UVA
Who are y'all cheering for?
I've got Miami for obvious reasons, but Pitt and UVa are 1-0 in conference. Screw the Hoos, but I wouldn't mind Pitt having a conference loss. I'm not looking forward to that one next week.
Yes the OL is still is, and I'm being nice here, not good. The injuries to Marshawn and Edmunds stink as well. But let's look at the positives. UNC was leading the ACC in scoring coming into the game averaging 40 points a game. We were missing our best DT, his backup, and our starting corner and held them to 17 points and only gave up 323 yards as well. That is amazing if you ask me, how Bud does it I don't know but he somehow does. And not too mention a 5 star DE recruit down to UNC and VT got too see all of this in person especially Dadi and Ekanem wrecking havoc all day. I'm really proud of how the defense played today, angry and with a purpose. Also, IMO there is not more doubting who the best DB in the country is.
#Hokies Marshawn Williams sprained left ankle. X-ray negative. Trey Edmunds has broken clavicle. Could miss 6 weeks.— Mike Barber (@RTD_MikeBarber) October 4, 2014
Good news on Williams. Really bad news for Edmunds, who worked really hard to get back this season. Looks like we are down two running backs now. I'm jumping on the Joel Caleb band wagon right about now.
Warning: drink responsibly. Actually taking an entire drink for each of these will result in death.
anyone remember the drinking games tailgate fever used to put up on a semi-weekly basis? Let's put together one for this game. I'll start us off.

(ESPN3 access may be blacked out since I live in the area where it's on local tv so try it out & see for yourself)
Two ways to watch. I would recommend watching via WatchESPN as it will provide the best quality.
1) Go to WatchESPN.com
2) Click on Remote Access
3) It will ask you for your provider. Select Xfinity/Comcast
4) It should then take you to the Comcast login screen. Enter the following:
Username: VTFootball2014 Password: Hokie4lifE
(password is case-sensitive)
5) Once you click ok/sign-in, you should be redirected back to the WatchESPN website where you should now have access to the game. All you need to do is find it and click on it. Enjoy!
