Sidney Cook goes off for 23 and Hannah Young puts up 16 to lead the ladies in a big win. Chanette Hicks also added 11 today. Surprisingly Vanessa Panousis went scoreless in this blowout It gives the ladies their third conference win on the season, and makes Tuesday even more intriguing. Way to go girls.

I didn't know that Vice had sports section. I thought they just did drug trafficking exposes.
At this point in the Virginia Tech project, it's not so hard to see why a coach like Williams was drawn to this team and this conference. He's competitive, like all top coaches, and he is smart enough to know that you have to beat the best to be the best. That's easier said than done, but no conference offers more chances to do that than the ACC.

Since ACC play started earlier this month, I've been very impressed with how the team has grown. I was very bearish on the team after the West Virginia loss but since then, I've felt like the team really turned a corner #Hour45. We've gone 4-3 since then, two losses we were within striking distance against two top-30 squads and the other was a blowout in Cameron Indoor (no shame getting blown by Duke at home even if they haven't been Duke-like since).
The biggest thing is how hard these kids play. It's awesome to watch.
Juuuuuust a little too much for Virginia Tech to handle on Sunday, but Cassell was its old packed self and it was great.

Looking ahead at our schedule, FSU, BC, and Wake are definitely winnable games. Throw in an upset or two and an ACC tourney win and we might be able to finish in a great position. What are your thoughts? Obviously, the team is exceeding expectations so far and it looks like we will finally be out of the cellar, but it's always fun to consider the possibilities of an at-large NIT bid.

As was pointed out in an earlier thread, there has been quite the commotion going on in the ACC so far since conference play began. Definitely not where the conference was headed when they had six ranked teams entering conference play. Since then they have had three of those ranked teams go on losing streaks in UVA, Miami and Duke.

It's been a very normal Monday afternoon of me browsing Hokiesports.com, and I always find the season stats interesting and very telling of how the season has been. These are just a few of the things I found intriguing:
We are actually ok at free throws this year
Not only are we shooting as well as our opponents at 67 percent, but look at just HOW MANY free throws we've attempted! There have been multiple ACC games in which we have shot 30+ from the line, and it's good to know we can make them, and that guys like Seth Allen (72%) and Zach LeDay (77%) can make them in the clutch.
