You missed an opportunity to call this thread: "COORDINATOR, POSITION COACH, AND SUPPORT STAFF SEARCH DISCUSSION THREAD PT 3: THE THREESOME".
Wait until he gets to PT 69 and the title of the thread will just be: NICE
I'm thinking maybe the OL Wisconsin coach still has smoke since there hasn't been any other replacement news yet. Pierson was announced not long after Smith left. They play today, so we might know within a few days.
Wisconsins bowl game is tonight. If he is coming I would expect an announcement within the next couple days.
Saw a transfer offer @ing Vance Vice. Wild guess he is staying on staff. Interested to see if it'll be as OL coach.
I wouldn't read too much into that, but it is interesting that the offer was made after ESD, and supposedly after we had already been in discussions with 2 other potential OL coaches.
Eh, I'm not as high on Vice as others. I'd like to see a clean sweep on offense
I am very interested in this subject. Below is a link to a Badger podcast (from back on the 23rd) which discusses the potential of Rudolph to leave and come to Blacksburg. The Rudolph discussion starts at 25:00 and runs to 34:45.
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/answering-your-mailbag-questions/i...
They speak very highly of Rudolph the person and of his recruiting ability. They do reference some fans being dissatisfied with the development of the OL based on the talent he has to work with. They did not add anything to what we have already heard, i.e. no insider hints or additions to the rumors we have all heard. Still an interesting listen for those so inclined.
It's gonna happen
Please keep talking.... Don't let the sound of my excitement interrupt you...
For my own tracking:

S&C and Support Staff
Edit: Updated to include Rudolph and Hazel. Only looking for a WR coach for on-field positions now!
Edit x2: Bowen now official. Rumors of Mike Brown from Cincy for WR coach.
I am curious about WR coach. There haven't even been rumors, total mystery at this point.
So you're saying I still have a chance/still in the running?
Nah. Would have leaked by now if you were being considered.
My phone interview did NOT go well. It was all "what are you talking about?" and "that's not why I called," and "why are you calling me 'Coach'?"
I'm starting to wonder if it actually was an extended warranty call
"Dude, this is a Wendy's."
5 Defensive Coaches: 33 total letters in the last name

2 possible Offensive Coaches: 9 or 12 letters

Comment Badge checks out.
Can we add this to the OP?
We also have a DFO
Really was hoping to get some news yesterday/today
I feel like we're not going to hear anything until after the NFL regular season is over, except some support staff positions.
Rudolph's Wisky contract is a calendar year thing payable monthly; so thru yesterday. My guess with the Holiday weekend and consistent with the regular timing of press conferences, if Rudolph has been hired it would be announced on Monday or Tuesday.
This week should be a go
I haven't seen these Vice rumors but I hope he is not retained. He was part of the problem in terms of the lack of physicality.
Pry said on ESD that the OLs and WRs that signed did so with no position coach. So it would be odd if Vice is retained.
Wouldn't be mad if Bowen brings Todd Washington as OL coach along with him after the NFL season is over
In addition to his passive blocking techniques, his handling of the Nester and Hudson vs Hoffman fiasco didn't exactly instill a lot of confidence.
Is there more information that you can share on what happened with Nester and Hudson?
Them leaving really sucked.
Something about bullying in the locker room and somebody's dad on twitter getting involved. Shoulda kicked Brock out.
I haven't seen any rumors (not really looking either), but given Pry signed Meadows and Mcclain (both of whom supposedly weren't recruited by Fuente/Vice), I don't see Vice sticking around.
I think it's less a rumor and more that people were reading into Vice being mentioned by some transfers that were offered.
I see HokieSports has removed the previous coaching staff and only showing Pry's staff. Support staff leads with Galt and still shows Hilgart on staff.
Wondering if Hilgart's contract runs through the end of the year for other sports.
I'm thinking more and more Hilgart is going to be kept on staff.
I hope not
don't see it.
I hope not. I'll be extremely disappointed if he and Vice are retained.
Even if Vice is retained for some odd reason, Fuente will hire him away wherever he ends up
Odds of Fuente landing a head coaching gig right away have to be small at this point
I mean, it's been obvious since Galt was hired that it wasn't to replace Hilgart. They have different titles. Plus, the Shumans have already said their good-byes on Twitter. I'm surprised he's still listed on the staff directory.
Also, it ticks me off that paid journalists can't be bothered to get clarity on this when it happened, when I can do 5 minutes research and realize there's a question.
As for whether Hilgart will be retained... if people say, they don't know, and if they know, they aren't saying.
I do think it's significant that Vice is not listed with the current football staff. He could still be retained, but it means they are at least considering others.
Getting off topic, but journalism in CFB is a shit show. Beat writers don't ask 'tough' question because if they do, they could lose their access.
Sadly, if coaches gave enough information sufficient to write an incredibly informative article or a detailed in depth analysis; then someone who is not a fan of the coach or the program or was pushing some other angle, would also have more than enough snippets to create some alternate unflattering picture that would have a life of its own. We have major industries devoted to doing just that because there are enough truly stupid people willing to buy it and make the practice profitable.
If a reporter asks me a question and I give short answer X. Then 5 minutes later I say, "you know, thinking about your question a little more, maybe a more accurate answer would be more detailed Y"; what do you think would go in the article or book,; X, or Y, or both? Having been interviewed hundreds of time on radio/TV, newspapers, and even a book; I can tell you that all but a few will write the answer they think will get the most views and none will use the print space or air time to acknowledge X evolving to Y even tho that might be the most revealing part of the interview.
So instead we get softballs for questions, and coach speak and sanitized press releases for answers.
Meh, I think it's less about fear of being misquoted/misportrayed, and more about hiding how the sausage is made.
College football is built on a foundation of morally questionable principles. Presidents, ADs, and Coaches want that shit swept under the rug, hidden from fans. Journalists can either be complicit, or look for work elsewhere.
I know little about what happens behind the scenes in football and for all I know, it might be as sleazy as it gets; but you did make my point (which applies to all subject matter). Your presumption going in is exactly why a journalist is likely to be complicit with one side or the other; you (the prospective reader) have left no room for a truthful response that doesn't comport with your premise.
Vice's house is not on the market, for whatever that is worth. If he's not on staff could make for some awkward times in the neighborhood, since he lives 2 doors down from Whit, lol.
Also should note that Vice's mailing address, for tax purposes on Blacksburg's GIS page is in Germantown, Tennessee
I am not sure how that would help for tax purposes, yes Tennessee has no state income tax, but he performs his work in VA and thus would have to pay VA taxes.
EDIT: I completely read the comment wrong.
It just means his Blacksburg property tax bill is sent to his Tennessee address. Don't know if that has always been the case, but it looks like Tennessee is "home"
I think about this a lot for some reason, but I wonder how many college football coaches actually buy a house at any particular job? But then I get into thinking about how you kind of have two tiers of coaches. Ones who want to do their best to stay at a place for a long time, and those who are at a stepping stone type job and are trying to move up. I could see where the latter would just rent places, and the former might wait a year or two before they buy something. I guess even if you buy a place and wind up getting fired in the next few years, you at least have a pretty decent real estate investment, right?
Edit: others already said it.
Pretty sure Vice has at least one child possibly two that are still school aged. Probably not putting the house on the market until he sure where he is going. They probably also have financial ability to let the kid(s) finish out the school year if desired too.
His oldest a son plays basketball and football for a high school in Tennessee.

Forgot about that, welp...I guess he won't be playing for VT
Based on what?
Name still on website, his title being assistant AD and new hire just being S&C football title.
That's pretty circumstantial evidence. He has an S&C role for all sports, and is a contractual employee of the state. He won't be training our football players anymore, we know this for a fact. I don't get all the sewing circle hand wringing over VT not updating their website yet or some recruit tagging Vice in a tweet.
I think we're making mountains out of molehills here.
Sure, but making mountains out of molehills is probably the most productive thing we *can* do right now.
should I bill this to "mountaining" or "molehilling"?
I'd stay away from any reference to mountaining - too similar to Mountaineer, and likely to have negative connotations. Of course moles could be construed using the spy definition. The word analyses is always nice, as it is harder to quantify in an end product. I'd bill as relative slope analyses.
I second this.
relative slope analysis...that's good; also love the metaphor potential; definitely putting in my tool bag.
Theoretical risk and worst-case projection and extrapolation.
Turning rabbit holes into worms holes? That has a negative slope. Or would it be imaginary?
I agree 1000% that it's all we can do right now. I don't know how productive it is, however.
I thought this site was the antithesis of production (at work anyway).
I meant productive TKPing, not work productivity. That would be crazy talk.
I'm not seeing his name listed under football staff anymore, I'm I in the wrong place?
I saw it mentioned somewhere else that he was removed yesterday.
For all the hate Hilgart gets, its possible that he was just training guys the way Fuente told him to. Perhaps Pry came in, asked him what he'd do differently with Fuente gone, and he had great answers. It's not as if our other sports are having the same conditioning problems, so clearly he knows what he's doing for those.
Also, it's up to the coaches to enforce accountability in the weight room. If a player skips a workout there need to be consequences (either extra PT or lost playing time/starter status). If the coaches aren't enforcing these rules, there's not a whole lot Hilgart or any other strength coach can do about it.
Edit: additionally, he isn't the strength coach for football anymore, that's Galt. Has Hilgart done well with development of players in other sports? I honestly don't have any idea, but if the other sports' coaches are happy that could be a reason to retain him.
Looking at the VT athletics staff directory, Hilgart doesn't work with any sports other than football. I would be willing to bet the website is still in transition and wouldn't read to much into it. Pry brought in Galt to be his S&C guy, why on Earth would we keep Hilgart around? I don't think Galt was brought in to answer to Hilgart. Though the title is different, I think those are just designations used by the AD for compensation level. Some of the S&C directors for other sports have an assistant AD title.
My guess about the whole title thing is you can't have two people with the exact same title as a purely HR rule, possibly also because it's a state school, and normal rules would be that you can't hire for a position until that position is vacant, so you have to create a different position for them to fill until the other person leaves.
And like the football coaches, Hilgart was kept until after the bowl game, possibly until year-end. I agree that it's just the website administration lagging slightly. Our desire for real-time updates (and resulting speculation) doesn't in any way affect the normal HR and website administration bureaucracy.
Except John Shuman has the exact same title as Galt, so that can't be it.
Not exactly the same, they are both Directors of strength and conditioning, but Shuman's title also includes "football" at the end whereas Galt's does not.
Also, this article (link) says Galt is taking over for Hilgart. I reassert that the website it just a mess right now and that I feel confident Hilgart is gone.
Time to update:
Dang! He's the Bud of offense ......
As long as his effect on the offense isn't as bad to offense as Bud Foster was, we'll be fine.
As long as we have a mobile QB we'll be fine.
Hokiesports football coaching staff updated now too and Hilgart has been removed.
Not sad to see him go.
Every time I saw him running with Fuente, Fuente was on the sidewalk and that moron was in the road. Not just in the bike lane area. In the actual traffic lane.
Of course he was one of those fools. Saving his shins from the concrete by running in traffic. 🙄
Any rumors on WR coach? That's a key hire as well.
yeah, given no announcement yet, i really really hope it's someone from Bama/UGA or an NFL team. i got no sauces but seeing as how all of the other "pass game coordinator/associate head coach"-type roles have been filled out on the staff, and assuming Tyler Bowen comes in as OC, we'd be hiring "just" a WR coach. I'd love Holmon Wiggins to come back but i doubt it would be for "WR coach".
Chris Beatty (edit: current Chargers WR coach) was kicked around earlier in the offseason around here and twitter -- i know folks have mixed opinions on his reputation on the recruiting trail (successful but kinda slimy), but he has major 757 connections, a wealth of P5 + NFL position coach experience, he overlapped with Pry at Vandy in 2011, and boy he can recruit (link).
A name to look out for is Mike Brown, currently the WR coach for Cincy. Grew up in C-Ville, played at Liberty. May want to move closer to home.
Nostradamus over here. Reports linking Brown to VT came out just now
So we're about to big dog a playoff member.
As I understand it Antonio Brown has recently become available and rumor has it he's unlikely to sign with any other NFL team for next year. That seems like pure conjecture at this point but hey we can dream right?
I prefer my coaches not to need major psychological help.
nah, he is destined to join deion's staff
Deion does not want anyone to take over his persona on his own team.
Are you seriously wanting him as a coach or is this a joke?
Might as well reach out to OBJ too. /s
it's either a joke, or this is the same guy who wanted us to hire Nick Rolovich to replace Fuente
COACHING EXPERIENCE
Years: Team - Position
2016: Michigan – Offensive Analyst
2017: Delaware – Offensive Quality Control
2018: Liberty – Running Backs
2019: Cincinnati – Wide Receivers
2020: Cincinnati – Wide Receivers
2021: Cincinnati – Wide Receivers
Damn, his teams have only lost 5 games in the last 3 years. A winning mentality. Love it.
Bearcat WRs have been good. Like the potential.
I guess he makes this move for money? I know it's G5 to P5, but this kind of seems like a lateral move to me.
Cinci is joining the B12 so will be "P5" next year, but like with the BigEast.. growth of the SEC, BIGTEN, ACC, and PAC are leading us towards a "P4" situation
But no, Cinci to VT is not a lateral move, its an upgrade. Similar to Texas Tech to VT
They almost certainly aren't joining next year. At the earliest, they'll join in summer of 2023, but that would still require some buyout negotiations.
thanks, I forgot that TX and OK aren't moving to the SEC for a couple years
lets do this
Let's do what?
This
Must be tough to eat soup with those sleeves.
He's probably more into meatloaf.
Had to leg this for wifey's sake. She is absolutely the biggest fan of this man that you will ever meet. And she does a pretty good job with all of his songs. When she gets control of the playlist it can get brutal 😂🤣😂🤣
you have my deepest sympathies
Well....
Two out of three ain't bad
Take your leg.
My apologies for your wife's loss
RIP
So current rumors are Jarrett Ferguson (former Hokie football player) will be joining VT S&C staff
CSCAA Profile
Camie Cole Nations, Marshall Director of Player Personnel, appears to be coming over for a similar role with Villagrana's part of the staff.
I think Dwight Vick basically confirmed Ferguson's return. Tweeted out his video from Aug 2020 about Ferguson.
Anyone else hearing we might get big dogged on Coach Cheetah?
I'm not saying I buy it necessarily, just hearing it
Who?.gif
No, seriously. Who?
Coach Jones has cheetah in his Twitter handle and includes cheetah references in many of his posts.
It's mentioned in this thread.
Derek Jones. The cheetah thing is sort of his personal brand/persona. He's a character. Interesting follow on Twitter.
As to the original topic, he posted a pic of him and his wife today with Pry and his wife at the AFCA conference. So if he's making any unexpected moves, that would be a little awkward.
Yeah I saw that too, which makes me question the rumblings.
He's already getting paid big dog money with us. Sounds like some Hokie hater wishful thinking trying to get put into the universe
What's the rumor?
Saw it on the free side that a guy who knows a guy heard a B1G school that's a blue blood might be sniffing around after a recent hire. The arrows were pointed at OSU after Knowles was brought in as DC basically. I think they talked about it behind a paywall later in.
One of those I'd have to see more smoke before I got the bucket of water things in my book, but who knows.
This is the rumor I was referencing. Like I said, I don't necessarily buy it, but was wondering if anyone else had heard anything similar, aside from the guy who knows a guy who heard something
Man if he does flip, he's gonna be hated in Blacksburg....I really don't think he's going anywhere
The other factor is he would hurt his relationship with Pry and it's not a good look for any job in any industry to accept and then peace out after a month for another gig. His industry is a lot more public too. Now it's not as bad in the sense that going from VT to Ohio State is considered an upgrade (for now), but it would also add that layer of doubt if it came down to him and someone else in a head to head for a new gig.
I think worst case it plays out as he stays here a year and then bolts.
We are the big dogs now. /s
CBP:
Hopefully VT is feeding him better than that.
Virginia Tech Football head coach Brent Pry announced Tuesday that former Hokies' LB Xavier Adibi has joined the football staff as a defensive analyst.
Brian Crist has been promoted to senior offensive analyst. Crist spent last season on Tech's staff as an offensive analyst.
Interesting non-hire. Glad Shayne said something.
Gotta Love Shayne
Guessing he's just burned out on the college football grindstone, but it would've been cool to have him on staff. Pry is really trying to make sure we have relationships with the football alumni based on how he's hired and that intro call right after he was hired.
👀
hopefully announcement soon
Fontel Mines...was previously the TE coach at ODU according to Tim Thomas on Twitter
I went to high school with Fontel. He's a good dude. That would be a cool connection if it's true.
Soup, what year did you graduate from Herm? I graduated '06.
'05
If you are who I think you are, maybe we'll have drinks in Switzerland in October.
Tech lunch pail reporting its.....Fontel Mines ODUs TE coach which is something
Beat me to it by 6 seconds!
I dont know 11 characters, seems to long a name
UVA grad, short NFL stint, extensive history coaching in the region, RVA/Hermitage High school grad - seems to hit a lot of recruiting sweet spots at minimum
Ricky Rahne connection with HokiePryde
Coached TEs and WRs at JMU, ECU, and Richmond
Name has 3 syllables
Checks out.
The Tech Lunchpail article mentions some of the receivers he coached, but looking at the ODU profile adds some extra detail. He was recruiting coordinator at several stops and looks like he coached a number of receivers to all-conference. While he may not have big-name recruits, he has apparently recruited well comparatively for the schools he's been at, and has connections in the area already.
Not a splashy hire, but feels pretty solid to me - especially given how little improvement we saw in receivers over the past few years (and was Williams effective on the recruiting trail?).
While not overly flashy, he seems to be inline with most of the rest of the coaches, lots of great work at multiple locations, was a recruiting coordinator, so knows the ends and outs, and has helped a lot of guys do very well for their level of play.
Also one of the best WR coaches we've had was Aaron Moorehead whose coaching resume was a couple of years as a grad assistant. So teaching the recievers the nuances is most important, I highly doubt a reciever gets 19 catches in a game without good you're running because at some point the defense will adjust.
The wide receiver position group desperately needs some competent coaching. Good shout on the Moorehead resume prior to VT. I didn't remember his only experience at the time was GA.
I didn't either until I wondered where he was a week or so ago an looked on Wikipedia.
Recruiting Profile
Nothing too special and kind of thin, but just looking at the recruiting locations: DC, VA, MD, FL and a couple JUCO it looks like. Not sure how accurate these lists are either, but just for informational purposes.
Tech Lunch Pail article
https://roanoke.com/sports/college/va_tech/the-salaries-for-virginia-tec...
Totals up to 5.225 million, for those uninterested in doing the math.
Thank you for doing that for those of us who don't get along with maff.
My Commodore64 kept saying "Syntax Error"
You forgot the ,8,1
Love it.
3 years at 725k per to pull a P5 OC to be our line coach is a big balls move and why the expanded budget for assistants and support staff is so important
Honestly for his past work experience, that's a great deal. That's 5th highest OLine pay for 2021 (strictly oline no OC)
I would assume that we've probably been using student interns already, but the amount of different types of opportunities to work with the program seem really cool. If all this stuff was being done when I was in school 15 years ago I'd have jumped at the chance.
I know a lot of these positions were there in '10-'15 but it was an in the know crowd that ever knew they were available. Glad it's more public now
Make it public, get more applicants, which in turn elevates the talent pool and ends up with a better intern staff.
My son is a freshman and he signed up to go to the organizational meeting. Can only be a good thing to possibly get some students that have a football background in there too!
Would've loved to try to get into the analytics stuff when I was in school, always was the pipe dream career I never truly had the guts/in roads to get into
Analytics is what my son is majoring in! I think his pipe dream career would be to try and mix the old school eye test with the modern analytics!
I think it would be really cool to see some data visualization on qb throwing like we see with the shot charts in the nba, show where different quarterbacks excel at throwing the ball and then vice versa, where do defenses give up completions and such.
They were 100% doing this for marketing in 2010. It was unpaid, but a resume builder 🤷♂️
We got a new equipment manager
He's going to get so much AME spam in his twitter feed. Good luck my friend.
You have 1 job, don't end up on Twitter
This always gets a laugh from me
I always laugh that it is or was tagged on Google maps as the UVA bus stop
Indeed, still is.
Looks like JGW is still part of the staff in some capacity?
He's been active on Twitter in terms of recruiting stuff. Still listed on the website as well. Assistant Director of Player Personnel
Anybody have any idea who this is or what his role will be?
Here is his linkedin account, he is from PSU, he was the football student manager. https://www.linkedin.com/in/jake-schell-8aa712174/
Oh, she's qualified!
When did that turn bad? I thought people have been saying that for a long time around here?
This comment came across as directly commenting on her appearance given the second meaning of "qualified" on TKP. I hope it was meant to be TIC and I could definitely be reading too much into it. But, I don't think we should make a comment on every woman's appearance who is hired to a position in the Athletic Department.
Tongue in cheek or not, this has been an approved comment. See here (It may be just above the top line on the screen) for "she's well qualified."
Times change. I think the "she's qualified" comment is quite sexist and lacks creativity as a comment overall
Then maybe suggest to mods to take it out of the glossary rather than just downvote someone for what has historically been a thing on the site?
Or, do something like create an off-topic post asking everyone if it's time for a change to have it removed and create discussion rather than just downvoting a random guy who uses the comment the same way it's been used for a long time on the site.
Yea, I know the origin of the meme and I get it. That comment also happened 6 years ago. I think the meaning has changed over time. At first it was a fun reference to the origin and poking fun at the commenter. Now, the phrase has become synonymous with "she's attractive". It feels repetitive and sexist at this point.
Anyway, I'll stop discussing this point. I appreciate your perspective and comments. Hopefully I haven't been too sensitive.
I up voted to offset as yes that has been a precedent here, but I think the fine line has always been that it was used in reference to people outside the university.
I thought it had been made about hires to VA Tech before. The glossary even says it started from a VA Tech hire.
Based on that reference, I think the poster saying she was qualified was done exactly right.
Maybe people didn't like it because that was the only thing mentioned?
I took it as a cheeky nod to the connotation/meme definition around TKP while also highlighting that we hired her away from another school in conference and her parents having Athletics Department support staff roles at Tech. I think it's inbounds, but this is a productive conversation for the community to take note of with respect to how perception of the meme usage is shifting.
I'll co-sign this opinion. I offset the remaining downvote because this is the first time I've really seen this become contentious and it's worth a conversation perhaps before we slam somebody who thought they were making a joke in line with TKP traditions. But if standards and opinions are changing, this is why we have community moderation. Everyone here helps decide what is acceptable. This is a good discussion to have.
My issue with this time and every time is when it's used as a standalone one liner. It can be funny when used overall.
Personally, I don't see how referring to someone as pretty is sexist. Everyone by now knows that comment is tongue in cheek and that there's no negativity associated with it.
People are entitled to their opinions, but I don't see why a G rated comment should die. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it shouldn't exist.
Personal opinion not directed at anyone here: Let's just not objectify women, ever, under any circumstances.
p.s.: Women like football too.
Is commenting that someone is attractive objectifying them? I think I commented that coach Jones has a great smile (I'm a fan of when someone has the type of smile that can brighten a room). And also, he has quite the pair of guns on him. Am I objectifying him? Do you tell your spouse or previous romantic interests they were attractive? Would you like it if random internet strangers saw a picture of you and said you were attractive?
Perfect response.
There is no end in sight to what will invariably offend "society," even if it's a compliment.
There was nothing sexist about it. Wake Forest had a successful football team and a lot of their sports seem to be decent. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree and her dad has been successful at Va Tech and Wake Forest is a similar school. There was no hidden meaning that I could see, she seems 110% qualified.
Yeah sure if all of that was said but the entire "joke" on tkp is being qualified based on looks. It's an old joke and it's tasteless always. The weird comments on how attractive someone
is on football forums has always been weird and that's not something limited to tkp but something we should certainly hold ourselves above.
So I lose a leg for not trying to be offended or for not knowing about the "entire joke on tkp is being qualified based on looks"? I've been on here since 2014 and never known about that "joke". I'm not making jokes based on looks but since I'm not offended or see things as you do I lose a leg? ok.
I'm not here taking your legs
Why not? Are his legs not "qualified" enough for you?
Made a longer comment below (well, apparently above), but wanted to maybe elaborate a little. I think the distinction for this comment (the "she's qualified") is whether it, by itself, is offensive. If it is used to mean the person is attractive, I recommend using "if there was a picture of me posted in some forum somewhere, would I be offended if the users on that forum said I was attractive?" If there are other comments with the "she's qualified" that make it seem creepy or some other sexual reference or something, that seems like it's crossed a line.
My 2 cents and agree it's good to have a discussion.
I have never really cared for this comment, and you won't see me make or leg when someone does, but I feel like PC policing can easily go too far, so just skip over and ignore. To be honest, I cringed more for the correction, even though I agree with the sentiment. I'm only adding my two cents because the mods encouraged the discussion, but no-one should be down voting opinions on this they disagree with. Just upvote what you agree with. Says the same without starting a family feud.
I like how she establishes her long term Hokie cred with the childhood Hokie gear pic.
I know it's not, but Every time I read her name I want to pronounce it Jay-Lin Bay-Lin.
Fam!
Can't believe we're debating whether saying someone is attractive or qualified is offensive or sexist but here we are. No offense taken by OP. Don't understand why someone can't be both or opinions can't be shared in a non derogatory manor. Probably shouldn't even be joining into the discussion but what can I say I'm bored on a Saturday. Hope everyone's having a good Saturday with their friends or family and we can have a round or oval ball team that makes us proud one of these years so discussions like this aren't even happening 😂
I can't believe I wasted my time reading this thread
There was nothing wrong with the post. John is a handsome man (and an extremely nice guy and loyal Hokie). Stephanie is a beautiful lady (and awesome person) with a track record of success in everything she's done. Unsurprisingly, 2 good-looking former athletes have a beautiful daughter who loves sports and VT such that the school wanted to hire her for a position she deserves and has earned. Was really hoping that TKP was not going to become a place where the demand for offensiveness was > the supply. We can have these discussions about improving our discourse, but that post wasn't out of bounds in the slightest.
I am offended that everyone is offended. Ease up, get a life and have some fun. Walking around with a puckered asshole worrying about everything that is said is ridiculous. Jesus, you can shoot someone these days and get less response.
this is a great example of the worst tone to take in an otherwise constructive community conversation
Thank you, I resemble that remark
We're out here absolutely raiding Penn states support staff
Any idea what his position is?
He was a football operations intern at Penn State, so I would assume entry level operations position. Hard to say what title will be.
He seems qualified.
Yes! Why's it just the women who get qualified? Leg to you!
Thank you for the chuckle.
Someone had to

Jarrett Ferguson is back!
Two more announcements on the support staff front:
Carly Harris returns as director of sports nutrition – football; Bryan Jackson joins VT as director of sports science – football
Glad to see the sports science hire, as that is increasingly becoming an important part in the world of high-level P5 football.
So currently I see 24 people listed under the coaching section that are not on field coaches. That is not including Kevin Juszynski who said on Twitter that he's joining Hokie FB staff. Anyone know how that compares to what Fu had?
Significant increase vs Fu
I think Beamer only had Gentry and Ballein.
kind of off-topic for this thread...but is ryan smith the only one of our former coaches that picked up a new job? i am a little surprised by that...i thought J-Ham and Vice would pick something up pretty easily. Maybe Teerlink as well, although maybe he goes back to the NFL. Says a lot about our former staff though, that only one of them has a new gig.
IKR? And he was the one coach out of those that most fans would have liked to retain.
Well, I can confirm Fuente hasn't gone anywhere. He was buying energy drinks at south main Kroger week before last. Looked incredibly confused. But, was still wearing a tech sweater. So, he hasn't torched all the clothes yet.
Don't really have to do anything with that extra 8.75 mil
I'm surprised he's still in BBurg. Figured he would move back west closer to family and take time off.
Kids. School. I bet it happens this summer.
Was thinking the same.
I too am very interested to see where the former staff (especially Fuente, J-Ham, and Jack Tyler) land. I really want to see if Fuente can be a good OC at a big time program.
New thread maybe?
Beau Davidson is at UCONN
Ryan Smith is at NW
Looks like more support staff!
Director of Recruiting per Twitter bio
Pry told the story about how all the Penn State coaches (current & former) have a meal together at the coaches convention, and how James Franklin, Charles Huff & Ricky Rahne were like "Whoa, this guy isn't invited!" since he kept hiring their staff members.
If he keeps this up, he REALLY might not be invited. Dude is absolutely raiding PSU, Marshall & ODU's staffs.
She's certainly qualified. She's been a Hokie fan for at least ten years!
;^)
Interesting that she's an LSU alumni and worked at Marshall as well. Anyone know the VT connection?
She worked with Villagrana at Marshall.
Don't go there Hokie bros, just say "No, not today."
The Mods did not pay me for this PSA.
Welcome home Camie! Go Hokies!
Huh.
those trees really grew up, didn't they
We have another support staff announcement via twitter
It appears we are still actively creating new support staff roles and filling then out.
Very interested to see how many staffers we end up with.
Wow this is a huge upgrade compared to previous staffs. Under Beamer and Fuente didn't we have 2-3 analysts? Let's hope we get a couple more defensive analysts to round this out. Should really help the on field coaches with self scouting and tendencies (our own and the opponents).
I don't know the staff numbers with Fu but Pete B. on twitter pointed out that we now have 45 people listed on the football staff. Clemson and Georgia have 51, Pitt has 35.
I'm assuming we significantly stepped up the amount of staff we have everywhere compared to what Fu had.
