After reading the "Bag Man" article from earlier, I sincerely doubt a major contributor on either a FB or BB team from a major institution ever "goes to bed hungry." When I saw that interview, all I could do was roll my eyes.
Mixing with coke is fine, as is doing a sour (with just a dash of grenadine, depending on how sweet you like stuff).
I typically do a Wild Turkey and coke, but when I'm in the mood for nicer bourbon, I hit up the A Smith Bowman distillery in Fredericksburg. The John J is quite good - very smooth, even for sipping.
When I go for beer, I typically do something snobby - either some kind of dark stout (typically a Russian Imperial), or a strong IPA.
When I first saw your post was about Wild Turkey, I was excited, because I love bourbon. Then I started it and was disappointed, because I quickly realized it wasn't about bourbon. Then I finished it, and was even more excited, because that's a really good idea.
UNC: doing the least with the most since 2008
guess I missed it - my bad!
Mike London explains exactly how high UVA expectations are entering the 2014-15 football season.
he was really busy. Best to investigate/prosecute when it's convenient for the accused.
Just read up on the Oyster and Tobacco bowls (I had previously just grabbed a list of bowls founded in the 40s and 50s). Didn't realize they were regular season games (like the Chick-fil-a kickoff, I guess). I guess that's why we don't acknowledge them.
I think my point still stands - we've had some good seasons, sure, but we really didn't have much to boast about prior to Beams.
Bowls started getting big in the 40s and 50s (Sun Bowl, Gator Bowl, Tangerine Bowl, Liberty Bowl, Cigar Bowl, Oyster Bowl, Pecan Bowl, Pineapple Bowl, Refridgrator Bowl, Tobacco Bowl... all founded around then). We still don't win one until the mid 80s. I'm not asking for national championships (although those were not THAT hard to come by - several teams claim the same years for a lot of them), but a complete absence from the national stage is not terribly impressive.
I'm not trying to sound like jerk here or anything, and I'm really proud of our school and team, I'm just saying that we don't exactly have a tremendous history to beat our chests with. We're a little-guy who broke through the glass cieling, and that's probably harder than being a charter B1G member who can just coast on name recognition. Lets be proud of that and not try to be something that we aren't.
I kinda think he looks like he's singing the opening song to the Lion King.
Walmart didn't design it - they just accidentally started selling shirts with the new logo early, I think.
When I look at this, I see a team that hadn't won a bowl game until 1986. I wouldn't be thumping my chest about it, honestly. And there are major differences in the comparative SOS that you're glossing over too. Sure, there are a couple of highlights here and there (Bruce Smith comes to mind, for instance), but I think this list does nothing but improves the argument that our history prior to Beamer is pretty bare.
"I think we can all agree that the 'three' is the most... techniquiest. Of the... techniques?"
-Something I probably said once as it rapidly dawned on me that I was in over my head.
I was a little underwhelmed. I mean, their hearts were in the right place, but that was really the best you could come up with? UVA is so ripe for mockery, that I expect a little better
holy crap, guy. The whole point is this: "If your child is too delicate to handle hip thrusts and the words 'stick it in' repeated three times, then no, don't bring them to a college game, because they could see that and things far worse (like f-bombs)." If your kids aren't too delicate, then bring as many as you'd like. Just be responsible. How is this a wrong comment? And how are you taking this so personally?
I'm pretty sure you're the one who saw general statements and took them exceedingly personally. Nobody once said "man, that vhokie guy banning stick it in! boo on him!" Just chill out.
Chill out. No need to be an ass
That is the entire point of the thread! Stick it in was banned!
Well, there's a huge difference between needing to take a minute or two to fix a goal post and someone getting a traumatic brain injury. The intention is to stop the goals from getting messed up, not to stop the dunking. So if a guy wants to dunk and risk the penalty if he screws it up, fine. But I have no problem with a player expressing himself if it does no harm and isn't obscene.
In all seriousness though - messing up the goalposts is a problem. Apparently Graham did that twice last year (and I recall a couple other instances where a big guy scores and screws them up from hanging on them). You have to delay the game to fix it, and I can understand wanting to prevent that, but then why not do something like "If you do this AND you ef up the goalpost, it'll be a penalty and a fine. Dunk at your own risk." Why ban it all? Just make the players take responsibility if they want to continue to risk it by dunking in celebration.
I know what they're thinking - it's just such a travesty to see a player celebrate a scoring play! People don't watch or play sports for excitment, damnit! They do it for the manners! And discipline!
Everybody's in a good mood - we just got a great new basketball coach, UVA is embarassing itself, Beamer and Bud are still around... times are good. Nows a great time to ask for legs.

Couldn't have said it better. Bravo.
