I was just about to edit my original comment to say it would depend entirely what the definition of flaming out is. I had in my mind being a bust at the collegiate level.
That show is also responsible for me binge watching Battlestar Galactica for three days straight.
Hmm. I don't think that's accurate. I remember reading somewhere (#sources) that 5 star recruits have the highest percentage chance of getting to the NFL by a pretty considerable margin.

Never been to Portland, but one thing I love about Asheville is how chill it is. That and the bajillion brewbups.
Hill tweeted a pic of his LOI package yesterday talking about how excited he was to make it official. So very little concern there.

Once you move beyond the 5 star and high 4 stars, so much of recruiting is just an algorithm. X number of D1 offers, Y number of P5 offers equals Z number of stars. When you have a coaching staff that is so damn good at doing out and finding unsung heroes and diamonds in the rough that fit well into our system, it's hard to land a top 10 signing class because you have so many under the radar guys.
Rather than worry about overall rankings, what excites me is seeing the number of legit 4 star and Rivals 250/top 247 players we're getting. We will continue to coach up the 2 and 3 star guys like we always have, but if we can add to that some game-ready talent then we will be in the hunt sooner rather than later.
"When a guy commits, some colleges jump off, and some don't," Garcia said. "Only a handful stayed in touch and Virginia Tech was one of them"
I am so glad to read this. This is one of the bigger shifts in recruiting for us. We recruit up until signing day no matter what.
Wow. You must only be seeing half the posts on the board then. I'd call your ISP immediately and get it troubleshooted.

It's been a comedy of errors. I feel so bad for the guy.

I have not been this excited about a grayshirt offer in a long time, but Hoyt's film is nasty.
Edmunds is the new Fuller.
Everything you say here is valid. The statement that this was "strictly a recruiting hire" was not, nor was the assertion that he will "obviously not be as good as Moorehead." That's what I was referencing. Zohn has a hell of a resume as a WR coach and a developer of talent. For all we know at this point, Zohn could be a better recruiter and WR coach than his predecessor.
Torrian Gray must have introduced himself to Mike's mom on day one.
Gaines? But... But... He took an official to Vanderbilt! /s
When can the faxes start being accepted? Are we go for launch?
Then you should probably get your eyes checked. Zohn is legit.
Right you are and very sloppy of me. But the Gregorian calendar took the Julian calendar and just tweaked the calculation of leap years, without altering the "calendar" part of the calendar. I still don't understand why when we switched from Julian to Gregorian we didn't make Christmas the start of the new year.
That's exactly what Buzz is fighting right now. A culture of losing.
If that happens, Buzz will find a way to beat the press. The problem this team has is putting it all together and changing gears when the situation calls for it. They can do one thing really well, and that one thing can be different from game to game, but they haven't been able to transition to doing a second thing really well in the same game.
I swear to god it's like watching a developmental league.
Right now, I think the moment is larger than this team. I don't know what Buzz does to get them beyond that, and I'm increasingly uncertain that it happens this year. But I do think it happens eventually. Every game is something different, and right now I don't think these young men believe they deserve it. You can watch our level of play decline as the pressure mounts.
Something will make this team larger than the moment, but it might take a different roster to make it happen. I dunno.
I thought the whole thing all game long. It was beautiful. And that much more painful that the setup was there to do it again at the end but we wouldn't take the inside pass.
Asheville and Portland? Do you ever forget which particular hipster Mecca you are in?

Yeah, Christmas was just the early church hijacking Saturnalia and Yule. There's pretty much universal scholarly agreement that he wasn't born that date. Mankind has been celebrating the winter solstice for thousands of years before Jesus was born. Still, it's the festival that celebrates his birth so it would stand to reason that a Christian calendar that reckons the years from his birth would use the festival of his birth to open the year.
Then again, it would stand to reason that the Julian calendar, being a solar calendar, would have made a solstice the start of the new year.
The moral of the story, kids, is calendars are dumb.
