The other side of that coin...
If this is a move made at the request of Burden (we're now getting into hypotheticals within hypotheticals) then I think we're getting exactly the kind of coach that will serve the interests of the program well. AMo wasn't too worried about his departure's effect on this recruiting cycle. Just saying.
The rumor is it's Zohn Burden and we're holding off announcing because he's the primary recruiter for 11 of ODU's verbal commits. Take that with a grain of salt, but definitely sounds like a Beamer move.
I think I'm in your corner. I saw a lack of height way more than a lack of fundamentals. Yeah there were some boneheaded turnovers, but I also think there were a LOT of no calls by the refs.
We've gone from down ten to down one. We're doing something right.
That 3 was clutch. Kept us in this one. We've got some ice water in our veins from the top of the key.
EDIT: frickin autocorrects
I also looked at that image as absurdist rather than a condemnation of Beamer et al. It's a funny juxtaposition. Of course we understand what's actually going on there, but it doesn't make the look of it any less funny.
You don't think Wiles has more wiggle room to try to replace a DT? I imagine the need is greater at end, which would prompt a move. Even if he's a better DT than DE, if the dropoff in his play isn't precipitous, we need him more on the end.
I was gonna say, WF has to be one of the biggest teams in the conference. I didn't notice this kind of juxtaposition against ND, UVA or Pitt. It's like David and Goliath out there.
But isn't that just an ad hominem, or a thinly veiled TrueHokie argument? You can be a fan and still be critical of what you perceive as the coaching staff's shortcomings.
The size difference is striking.
Welcome back, Bibbs.
In general I think there is a segment of the fan base that thinks that any criticism of the coaching staff, no matter how rational or well articulated, is a sort of Hokie heresy.
Agreed. I don't see this as an either/or.
Do we know which recruits Frank did an in home with? Is that public knowledge?
The AAC isn't a P5 conference, so I'd call it mif-major. It's kind of a gray area though because the Big East was a BCS conference. Then again, every decent remaining Big East team (post 2004 ACC expansion) is now in another conference. I'd say it's definitely mid-major now.
Also, Cincy was a BCS conference team when we beat them.
At that point in the season we were throwing everything against the wall just to see if anything would stick. Desperation move, no doubt, but I can't blame them for giving him a shot
Listed as probable.
Definitely counts as having extra time to prepare, but he asked how many times we've had our bye week before GT.
Did Reid also have injury issues this past season, or am I thinking of Jerome Wright?
This might swing all the way into the "so bad it's good" category...
To a large extent, skill position players commit more to the program and the offensive scheme than to the position coach.
Beamer said he'd like someone by signing day, which is next Wednesday. It's been admittedly quiet of late, though we do know Zohn Burden interviewed. Other than that, just rumors.
My wife was a fan of Happy Endings. I was a fan of the two hot blondes on that show.
And suddenly it all becomes clear...
Favorite has to be the punt block recovery in the endzone, just for pure nostalgia. Plus, as Bucky was the one who recovers it, it means we're back to playing our absolute best talent on special teams, something we've gotten away from for a couple seasons.
Watching that montage a few more times, my goodness did Brewer have some nice touch on a lot of those passes. He threw his share of boneheaded passes in the first five games, but this guy has the tools to thread a needle when he has to. Excited to see what an offseason with Lefty and Gentry can do for him.

That's quite a Burden you're placing on the new guy's shoulders.
