Oh, yeah, our D was dominated, no question.

Sorry, when I hear someone say an opponent dominated us, I'm thinking the implication is we got outplayed in all phases of the game.

It's also a 7 second clip of film with no context. How did Farley get in that position? Was he covering someone else? Was he blocked into that position? Did he just horribly misplay his assignment? If you can't answer that, then you just cherry picked this tweet and are shitposting.

The offense looked on it's toes early. They were physical and aggressive. It was everything we wanted right up to the muffed punt. And then it looked like a different offense.

Really? I didn't get that at all. To me the only thing that changed was that our young receivers started playing tight because they realized this game was entirely on their shoulders. Two Tre Turner drops and the offensive P.I. on Kumah killed three drives that allowed GT to run away with the game. Frustrating, but also indicative of players trying to do too much when put under the pressure of carrying the team.

Not that this excuses the ODU loss, but "dominated" is not the way to describe that result. We were tied with 7:15 left in the game. It was a shootout where we blinked first Had that game gone to OT, it would have been the Bizarro world version of 0-0 \o/.

Should probably note in the same stretch our D recovered 3 fumbles, had an interception and forced 3 turnovers on downs.

Biggest difference I see is that we still had good defenses at the end of Beamer's tenure, and that kept games close. This year's defense is hot garbage, so there's gonna be more lopsided losses.

Dick lunch loss

I assume you meant "dick punch loss," but there might be no more appropriate metaphor for the ODU game than eating a dick.

Is this any more embarrassing than 0-0 \o/?

I never felt like the GT defense outschemed us tonight. I felt like three drives got killed by two Tre Turner drops and an Eric Kumah offensive pass interference.

We still are fundamentally flawed with our play-calling on offense when our back is against the wall.

I'm not trying to be a Corn apologist here, but I really didn't have a problem with the playcalling. How many yards did Tre Turner leave on the field with drops? Great play call, failed execution. Same with Kumah's offensive P.I. call, fine call that just got fucked by the execution. I never felt like GT's defense really knew what was about to come at them. We shot ourselves in the foot more offensively than the GT defense stopped us.

Now, just to clarify, consistently poor execution can be blamed on the coaches. My point isn't to give the coaching staff a pass but rather to say it wasn't the playcalling in my eyes.

Gaines is still my homeboy. But our defensive secondary is scary bad. Like, unique combination of lack of talent plus poor coaching bad.

He didn't even have the body language of a punt returner. He looked like a guy who saw a guy return a punt once and was trying to mimic it. His posture and hands were all wrong.

I dunno, I felt like last year's loss was pretty explicable, what with the absolute clusterfuck of a situation with the team getting stranded on the way back from Miami, basically robbing us of a day and a half of prep time for GT.

My 401k and my ulcer can't handle this.

I love this idea and want it to happen, but as Fernley points out above, actually enshrining the TechmoBowl moniker isn't going to happen for stupid legal reasons. And that's okay. I actually like the idea of a colloquial name for the rivalry. So much of college football is corporate marketing now, having something organic that the Mothership can't even mention on the air is cool.

However, I do think we need a trophy. Someone mentioned a slide rule, not sure how tongue in cheek that's supposed to be, but I love the idea of embracing the shared engineering pedigree/nerdiness of the two schools. I think a golden T square would be an awesome trophy.

Like this, but golden.

Get it? A T square for the True Tech. It's quirky enough to be in line with some of the more eccentric college football trophies. Plus it kind of pays homage to the whole stealing of the T thing.
