This would never fly in the ACC who would ref the games if they demanded quality refereeing
Can the NBA support that many WNBA teams?
Ah. So looking at 2026-27, the stable looks like it might be:
125: Alex Rozas, or Revin Dickman (2026 FloWrestling Big Board #55 and #16)
133: Aaron Seidel, or Revin Dickman (2025 Big Board #10, 2026 #16)
141: Bo Bassett (2026 Big Board #1 )
149: Noah Nininger (2025 Big Board #48)
157: Caleb Henson (2024 NCAA Champion, 2025 Runner-Up)
165: Mac Church (2023 Big Board #17)
174: Ryan Burton (2025 Big Board #14)
184: Gunnar Garelli (47-3 as a Senior in HS)
197: Jonathan Rocha or Sonny Sasso (2025 Big Board #54, 2023 Big Board #38)
285: Parker Ferrell or Jimmy Mullen (2024 Big Board #83, 2023 Big Board #8)
Average SP+ ranking for USC under Beamer puts them 33rd in FBS and 14th in the SEC.
Their average recruiting class under Beamer ranks 23rd — pretty much exactly where USC has ranked historically.
Make of that what you will.
A lot of good points tho.
Its the Food Jinx
In the latest Best Food on Campus, the Hokies finished #2....to UCLA.
Firing P4 Coaches in Order.
Yep 4 questions right on a 11 or 16 question test was a C. I think an A was getting 6 right. I remember there being 8 people actually in attendance by the second week of class.
Have more hope on Nininger but really we haven't seen either at the College level.
Bacchioni got 3 matches in due to injury.
Nininger won 4 state titles and an Ironman.
Not sure we will know what we have there until we get closer but I am going to speculate on Nininger being the 149 this season.
I think the last name has a lot to do with the appeal of Shane. For me, its got more to do with him being a former player, being here his entire playing career, AND having some success in the SEC. Take out the "Beamer" and change it with something like "Randall", or "Suggs", or "Adibi"... hell, we'd flip out if Dave Meyer was having this success elsewhere and my expectation is that we would all say its time to bring him home. My only hesitancy is that past success is no guarantee for future success. Look at Scott Frost.
What excites me about Shane is he was there when the culture was at its peak. What concerns me is that he was also there went it all started to go to hell. And even with the other team's playbook he couldn't find a way to get the team in the endzone.
How big are his gloves?
I live in Columbia, SC, and while I'd prefer that we don't hire Shane back to VT, it's hard to say he isn't a great recruiter. Before he was the head coach at SC, he brought in Alshon Jeffery, Stephon Gilmore, Marcus Lattimore, and Connor Shaw. He was a big reason that "The Old Ball Coach" did as well as he did while at SC.
Are Bacchioni or Nininger better than Crook?
I am a hard no on Shane.
Too many connections to the status quo in Merryman.
This year was supposed to be Shane's coming out party and it's been a disaster. Have they played some of the best SEC teams? Yes but have they really been competitive in those games? No. They got steamrolled by Vanderbilt and Oklahoma. They fell on their face in the 4th Qtr against Missouri. LSU, they got a FG in first drive of the second half and failed to score again the rest of the game.
Is he better than Pry? Absolutely 💯
Is he better than a number of candidates proposed? Yes again.
Is he ready to rebuild this program from ground up? That I am not sure of.
Is he ready to really tear down Merryman to compete in today's football? I am torn on this as well. I think he wants to be successful so will make decisions on that path but not sure he will truly clean house.
I want a clean house.
We would likely need Ventresca (I think he will still be here), Henson and Bo to all win their weight classes, and then have at least 2 or 3 semifinals/finals. After that we probably would need everyone else or all but one to be an All American (top 8).
Thanks, Message Sent
yes, but just noting based on your above comment that you're in BBurg and I'm opposite end of the state. If you got someone that can snag the pass today/tomorrow and bring it to you, it's all yours, but it's a physical pass.
If it's for other games, then disregard the above. (redacted) is the email since we've established contact
Can I reach you privately? Thanks
I have a parking pass for the remaining games if someone needs one. Unfortunately I'm in Northern VA, so unlikely to be able to offload the one for Cal, but let me know if you need one for the other games
and if he's Gods Gift
That will change in the next few years. They will have 18 teams by 2030.
Starting this year: Golden State Valkyries
Starting in 2026: Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire
Starting in 2028: Cleveland
Starting in 2029: Detroit
Starting in 2030: Philadelphia
Bo Bassett has been a mainstay at 140 lbs in high school and was thought to initially be at 141 lbs as a Freshman so that wouldn't overlap with Henson at 149.
The WNBA is tough. There are just not enough teams to support the draft classes.
100% this ^ . Especially considering the perception that the last two head coach failures were at least in part related to poor coaching staff hires and retaining underperforming coordinators, I would really like to think a significant focus of the interview process for this head coach hire will be reviewing a convincing plan for the entire staff.
Yes and no, he is Franks kid and Frank is well liked in and respected the coaching world. That opened doors that lots of people might not get opened as easily. Shane still had to walk through and do the work, but if Shane Beamer and Glenn Schumann resumes are o your desk when they are looking for GA positions, Beamer stands out as some one to atleast talk to.

Everyone of the players were in the end zone? How the hell could that not be a touchdown?
