I've only been down to VT something like 3 times during games, and I only physically went to 1 of the games, was just in the area for the other 2 times. But I've found it was very easy to get a hotel and no increase (as far as I know) in price by staying out at the Troutville/Daleville exit off I81. You can take the back route into town up Blacksburg Road and there was never any real traffic. I also parked way up on Washington Street and just walked to the stadium or downtown if I was going there. Enjoyed the exercise and no trouble getting out. Just a suggestion people could try.
The last time we beat an OOC P4 team was the season opener against WVU at FedEx.
this was 2017 - I watched that game in the wee hours of the morning on a laptop with spotty internet in my hut in Uganda.
it's crazy to me that it's been 8 years since we've beaten a P4 team OOC. Absolutely wild to me. That can't be right, is it? Is that right?

They allow RV camping on the driving range, so I'm not sure if they'd allow you to set up a car/tent. Of course it wouldn't be an optimal experience if you're looking for the serene/quiet/nature experience, but proximity to the game & downtown would be optimal!
Wish more business owners had that mindset

In my years at VT, we lived on the 8 packs of returnable 16 oz bottles of Coke; regular price (ignoring deposit cause you got that back/covered it with the ones you returned) was $1.79 an 8 pack and constantly on sale for $1.39 and once in a while for $0.99! Put em in the dorm fridge and they were amazing on a hot day!
Hopefully Tyrod gets the chance to shine again.

Basically, there's not a true demand. It's a want of closer and cheaper. The cheaper is not happening with a brand new hotel, no matter where it is. So if there are more rooms available, there will be more rooms vacant in all locations on the other 359 (or 353) nights of the year. There's not another NEW draw to bring people to Blacksburg at the moment.
One school has multiple hiesmans and national championships. The other school has had a single 11-win season.
If you want to be relevant, you have to earn it.
The idea of referring to Clemson's stadium as Death Valley was laughable 15 years ago. That title belongs to lsu. Then Clemson got legit. And they earned the name recognition.

I think it's a question of proximity. Staying a 30 min drive away fucking sucks (especially after a 7 hour drive, and when you're still paying $500/night with a two night minimum). The experience is significantly better when you can stay in Blacksburg/christiansburg, and easily get places.
Brumfield was limited by was the only guy consistently running to the ball and not getting washed out because or lack of effort. If Kellar did that he'd be on an all acc team.
At 13-0 we wouldn't need any votes. We'd be in automatically. Worst case scenario, they give us a low seed and make us play the first round.
Unfortunately, we won't have to worry about whether I'm right.
That's just geography, as the East was settled far before the West. East coast bias. ;^)

The experience varys with the weather of course but it's certainly doable if you like camping.

I got up twice for beers during Metallica and twice to use the bathroom and maybe spent no more than 3 minutes away each trip. I thought the lines for beer and bathrooms were flowing much better than a VT game.
