I purchased the FLAC files and was disappointed in the number of glitches. For Whom the Bell Tolls, King Nothing, and Master of Puppets were the worst offenders. Some songs seemed unaffected. Interestingly, the .m4a files posted above seemed better in some regards, but still had issues.

Something something,If you ain't first, you're last...

In less than a month VT will be 153 years old and still zero national championships.
Think about that for a minute; that's your lifetime plus my lifetime and DC's lifetime combined (roughly).
Drum or no drum, that's the reality

I'm just saying he needs some time to make that transition. If we underperform this coming year then Sands needs to so his professional development and take control in a way we havent seem at VT.

There's also bowling, fencing and rifle. Any of those would be cheap and easy to get into and there's a relatively small number of schools competing.
I mean, wvu wins the rifle natty almost every year so how hard can it be?

That's the problem. We hear rumors that Sands is unhappy with the AD, feels we are lagging behind peers, etc. But is he going to do anything about it? I would feel a lot better about Sands if he fired Whit and decided he was going to really emphasize finding an AD to match his success and ambition on the academic side. But I just don't think he wants to rock the boat too much/deal with the fallout and thinks he will just wait out Whit's retirement. Which will put us in an inescapable hole.

Let me also be clear - I don't think Whit deserves the retirement with grace treatment. He has completely run the ship aground and as others have said, this has run its course. If he's not going to move along, fire him. It's time.

What was up with Lars?

music fans have been asking this since 1989

I listened to it, had some glitchy moments too. Was not sure if it was the converter I used. Then I realized that I used a free website converter and nothing would stop the site from planting some Trojan horse virus in the song download and I deleted the whole set of songs and everything associated with it as soon as I was five listening.

I forgot about that. They were ranked 12th this year. Lost to #1 Duke in the final 1-0.

They'll be fast this year, Girl from Milan is on the team whose last name is Rossi.

Cornell has been one of the few lacrosse entered sports programs for decades. They were a major player when I was looking at colleges back 40 years ago.
It's a relatively small niche group.

If I was to use a sport to jump in and target getting Natty as fast as possible at VT, I would make the Men's Rugby club an NCAA sport, get coach (right now they do not have one) and a budget for proper training and transportation.

Collegiate club national champs over and over again and a club sport powerhouse for decades. Slightly niche and relatively inexpensive.

What was up with Lars? That didn't sound right.

I'm not their on Sands just yet because he was brought in to improve VT academically and has done so. And it was needed, we have to many good programs to not be a top flight university.

With his improvements he needs to take that next step and look at the university as a whole. This was something Steger did well. The corp, Greek life, athletics, intermurals, arts, dorms/dining halls, etc. There is a ton to being a student at VT. There are lots of important life lessons one learns at college that aren't in a class room and the university should be there to support all of them. That is what Sands needs to morph his role into as he took on the main issue at hand and improved it. He should get the time to do that, but he first has to state that he is working towards that goal.

A quick google shows that Morgan Wallen is touring and has/had stops in DC, Atlanta, Louisville, and Virginia Beach.
VT fans aren't going to flock to Blacksburg as if it's a top 25 match up just to see Morgan Wallen, especially if he's already doing shows at those other locations.

Perhaps there's 50k Morgan Wallen fans in the NRV/Roanoke who are willing to pay a shitton of money to fill Lane, plus another 16k fans who are willing to travel to the area to see Morgan Wallen instead of seeing him in DC/Atlanta/etc, but I doubt it. If the NRV population was that willing to spend that much money, it would be happening.

Metallica is a unique case. They are worldwide superstars who have an one of a kind connection with Virginia Tech. That connection is what made seeing Metallica in Blacksburg a destination event. There is no other artist who has that connection. I don't know Mehul, but I'm guessing he's not taking a private jet to see Morgan Wallen in Lane. He might be a big Morgan Wallen fan, idk, but if he is, he's probably going to the DC show.

Perhaps the NRV is an underserved market relative to its buying power. Maybe there is enough money in SWVA that it could be profitable for artist to tour there. But I doubt that our alumni who live in DC, Charlotte, NYC, Atlanta, etc are making the trip to Blacksburg to see an artist - outside of Metallica, who is a unique situation - that they can see in their home town.

Yeah, I'm in this camp on Sands now too. No doubt he has overseen some impressive advances on the academic side, including fundraising. But somehow that has resulted in very little synergy with VT athletics. I firmly believe athletics just isn't his wheelhouse/priority. And it's nice hearing that he's starting to see some of the disparity between VT and other peer universities, but I mean come on man, where have you been the past 10 years?

Well he's wrong in the fact that we look competitive in the ACC. Other than Swimming, Track and field, wrestling, amd softball we weren't good. T&F we have been really good at the ACC level for a long time but not enough breadth and depth for bigger accolades. Swimming is new and wrestling was solid. Softball is just disappointing like always.
