I watched a fair amount of Seldon over the last two seasons. He CAN play running back, but tends to run very upright and take hard shots, which ended up becoming injuries too often. Coming out of high school, he was a receiver recruit who was a big athlete, and the Vols, who were very thin at tailback, moved him to running back.

It will be very interesting to see how the Hokies use him, but a top of the Commonwealth recruit coming home isn't a bad thing, especially when he showed that he has the talent to be a contributor.

I really like his HS film. Good feet, fundamentally sound, and has a mean streak. He missed last season because of an injury, but if healthy I would be gobsmacked if he isn't the starter at center next year.

I can roll with a Rimac-Altuner-Meadows inside. That is a group that will get some movement. I expect Ghannam will get moved back out to tackle, perhaps on the right side, with Garrett on the left. Then they need to bring in people to compete with them.

It's a shame Chaplin left before he found out who we brought in before he left (at least I assume based on the timing he didn't know). I wonder if we could have kept him if he did know?

I agree it's early for the hype train, but getting Altuner on board given how high a recruit he was feels like a win considering the recruiting for OL we've been having. Hopefully relationships Moore has in our footprint will mean we can pick up some good OL recruits in the future as well.

It does feel like our OL is heading in the right direction at least!

How is it any different for guys who sit on the bench for football teams, even if the team goes to the playoffs or wins the championship. I don't know how many guys on a team get NIL money, but I have a hard time believing bench players are getting it.

Someone was saying that Texas has crazy money, so can pay tons of guys, essentially getting all the talent on their team. But at some point, guys want to play to showcase their abilities and try to make it to the NFL, where they'd be getting a lot more money, and for longer than 4-5 years.

I'm stunned Delane had as high a score as he did. He played some guys close, but the Duke receiver was open against him a lot. It seems like if you can figure out his weakness, you can get open easily on him. Like I said before, since I was at the Duke games and Delane was playing right in front of me, I saw it - the Duke player just ran straight ahead, then after about 7 yards, backpedal, but Delane kept going, leaving a big gap.

I know what you mean. I haven't done much harvesting, it's just too messy and hard to get enough to make it worth the trouble, then there's cleaning them up so you can shuck 'em clean. I didn't have a pressure washer at the time so I spent an inordinate amount of time cleaning the mud off of them with a hose and a scrub brush. That mud was sticky and it wasn't fun. The oysters were outstanding, had time to mature and were easy to get wading. Another time I had friends whose oyster cages were destroyed by a big nor'easter and the spat ended up on their rocks and dock pilings in the mouth of the Piankatank. It was maybe not the best time of year, but I pried a few loose and ate them on the dock, and again, outstanding.
Worth dying for? Nah, but raw oysters eaten anywhere are a bit risky and they tell you that on the menu as you know, so when I have gotten them myself, I just look for healthy looking and not from polluted water, and alive and hard to shuck. Still haven't found a pearl, though.

Not arguing that we'll miss him or that he needs to be replaced, just pointing out that he was the number 1 OL in the portal at the time he was graded and has since been bypassed by a few other portallers

Damn, hype train already picking up speed? We still got depth/numbers issues. Still have to get 5 ACC quality starters (we have 2ish from the portal). Still gotta coach up some guys who were given some bad habits.

BUT the fact that these two guys feel like Moore is the coach who can develop them into NFL players, so they have to follow him, indicates that we made a good hire.

Xavier Chaplin, the number 1 OL in the portal, has not been replaced. And unless somebody on the roster takes a huge leap forward, he won't be. This is definitely good news, but it still may be a year or more until we can talk about it being a "strength"
