# | CBS: Duke is paying QB Darian Mensah $8m to transfer from Tulane Travis Hunter only had $5.2M in NIL this season. Hunter has a social media following comparable to superstars in music and other pro sports. No way this kid has $4M a year value compared to that.

Simplifies the parents' weekend travel plans.
Good for him if true. But my question is: Who put this valuation on him? If he's worth that fine. But who is he compared to? How much are they making? What are his measurables? Stats? Experience levels? Does he have to play school? Does his academics get him in to duke? So many questions, so few answers. This is crazy!
First, I am a bit skeptical of this (and all) numbers released by "sources".
Its clearly in the interest of the school/collective and NIL "Agent" to inflate these figures as much as possible.
At the same time, if this is anywhere close to what they are actually paying, its insane and the bubble is closer to bursting (like 1-2 more seasons)

I will say for scheme though....Pry's first year was the year that I thought Dax looked like what he was supposed to look like all along. I'm sure part of it had to do with his growth as a player and man but still, he looked legit that year.

This is not true. I have a friend who is part of Tulane's NIL collective and is privy to the details. My friend got the details of negotiations (for lack of a better term) directly from Coach Summerall in a weekly conference call for boosters.
Mensah asked Tulane for an extra $500k (~40% increase I was told) after 'someone close to him' told him 'that's exactly what he would make in the portal.' Tulane collective declined. Mensah was offended and arranged his own travel home from their final game after it ended (without informing Summerall). This was the story I got a couple weeks ago.
So, given this CBS 'report', there's three possibilities:
- Mensah was willing to leave $3m on the table to stay at Tulane
- Duke drastically overpaid relative to the market for absolutely no reason
- Duke is leaking false information (that can't be verified) to make other recruits believe that they are big spenders
Which one do you think is most likely? 🤔🤔🤔

RichRod the sequel at WVU should be fascinating...I smell an implosion coming.
WVU isn't gonna be beating up on the remnants of the Big East anymore and mobile QBs running up-tempo systems are the norm. Richie ain't bringing anything new.

Staying relatively local this year. Cousin's house on my mom's side for Christmas Eve -- traditional Polish meatless with pierogi and seafood. Brunch on Christmas Day local to us at my brother's house, then to the in-laws' big bash up in Westchester Co NY in the afternoon.
Perhaps headed to Darcy's in Bradley Beach for Boxing Day EPL as Mrs Chumps is working but I'm not
