For me it would be more emphasis on the Hokie Club growth back then. Also all the improvements in other sports etc we see now should have been started back in 2000.

Wow that comment wasn't just mean to VT, she just dissed the entire ACC with that one. I wonder if she's aware that the ACC is a much better conference than back when she was reporting on it? In the "inferior" coastal division UNC and Miami actually look good this year, and Pitt might not be top 25 good but they're competitive. The ACC coastal may not be the SEC West but jeez there are certainly weaker divisions in the P5 out there.

Not sure what you mean. Some comments on the other thread were over the line (personal attacks) and it was brought up as not beneficial to the community. Which is true. As far as asking for money, you must not understand the time and effort it takes to run a website while having a family and other commitments as well. Joe works his ass off for this place. He has also asked politely, while still maintaining the site for free for those who do not have the funds to donate. It's just that. A donation. For something that this community really enjoys and wants to keep alive.

I'm sure I will get the ban hammer, but I just need to get something straight as I was going to join but after seeing the comments from the head man here why would I. A few months ago you threaten to shut down the site basically, because of a lack of time and funding. Then you go on another thread and comment on how terrible the discussion is on the site. Now you are encouraging everyone to give you money?????

Disappointed as well. My issue with Heather isn't that she's anti VT/ACC. I personally don't care.

My issue is when people say stupid things (See comment above about how she turned VT winning against Miami a bad thing). Absolutely no reason to attack her personally. Makes our fanbase look bad and I'm not a fan of that.

We had a wave of hype and national attention after the MV7 years, and we failed to really seize that momentum and take the program to the next level.

What does taking the program to the next level look like to you? Unless it's basically Alabama or Ohio State then I think you are grossly minimizing the success the program had from MV7 through 2011. I realize it's extremely disappointing that we never made it back to the title game but it's not that different from other teams that got to the title game with an all world QB. Consider Texas after Vince Young, Auburn after Cam Newton, Oregon after Mariota, and Florida after Tebow. They had some success but it wasn't significantly greater than what VT had winning 10+ games for 10 out of 12 seasons. Honestly I used to despise that line and wanted a title so badly but the truth is that after a team loses a special player like MV7 it doesn't get easier to make it back to the title game even if that player helps create some degree of sustained success in his wake.

Andy really does write great stuff. As a beat writer he's not supposed to wear O&M glasses and being from Wisconsin (I believe) he has no affiliation with VT. Writes really good stuff and does a great job of keeping things in perspective. Believe he notes in his mailbag this week that it's certainly more fun to write about the What if's of Playoff contention and such than whether or not we'll get 6 wins to keep the bowl streak alive.
