I feel your pain. I lived in eastern PA for 11 years and when I move to Alabama what bowl do we play in? Thats right the Military Bowl in Annapolis.

If you're not in a section with a lot of Hokies, move to one that does. Then just do what everyone else around you does.

I was born in Durham, grew up in nearby Apex (parents still live there). Unfortunately, this means I have little in the way of hotel experience to offer, because I obviously had a nearby place to stay. Good BBQ joint to check out would be Bullock's BBQ. The last time I was at a game there was 2007, prior to Cutcliffe becoming coach. The tailgate scene and attendance in general was (pre)dominantly in VTs favor. Side note: my Dad was campus police during those times, so I always had a sweet tailgating spot "reserved" with traffic cones.

They've been stockpiling talent for years, too, with players like Violated Team Rules, Traded Memorabilia For Tattoos, and the former starting safety from Notre Dame, Assaulted Police Officer. I wouldn't be surprised if Beat Up His Girlfriend or Stole Crab Legs has a big day either, but we still aren't sure if Academic Issues is ready to play yet. They should get Targeting Penalty back in the second half, so he'll be fresh at the second half kickoff.

All in all, this could be a tough week, since the players will all be hyped to play in remembrance of their former coach, Looked The Other Way.

I, for one, am pretty sick of the false narrative that Saban quit on the Dolphins. I had two people text me after these comments with similar sentiments, both of whom LOVE to criticize Saban for this. Saban saw the season through and took a better job, and yes I consider the Alabama job better than the Dolphins job. Had he left the Dolphins earlier, he would have been in better shape as far as establishing a presence at Alabama, getting a head start on recruiting, and assembling his staff at Alabama. He didn't. He saw the season through.

When NFL coaches become former NFL coaches, there are very few reasons why this comes to pass. Mostly, they get fired. Sometimes, they retire. A vastly smaller number of coaches leave for other reasons, like health or family. It is a rare day that an NFL coach leaves one team for a 'better job' elsewhere, particularly if that 'better job' is another head coaching gig somewhere else. NFL fans don't really have a frame of reference for this, while college football fans see it every period damn period year period all over the country. I can't recall one time where an NFL head coach left one team for another NFL head coaching job in the middle of a contract when they weren't fired (can anyone? I legit can't think of one but could be wrong). Everyone I talk to about this seems to feel personally betrayed that Saban left the Dolphins and wants to take pot shots at him for leaving a job A DECADE AGO. Get over it!

I could easily turn this around and say that Saban found his true calling in college and left the Dolphins for the opportunity to establish a college program that has bettered the lives of hundreds of young men at a stage in their lives where they needed leadership and structure. But this isn't the way it's played out, has it?

The constant narrative here is that Saban is a quitter and he's a terrible person and a liar and a scumbag and I wish people would just shut their mouths about it.

As far as the kid is concerned, who cares why he left. He's looking out for his best interests as far as he can tell. But the optics of the situation would be FAR better if he waited until the end of the season to transfer out. Had he stayed, maybe he would have had a Tyrone Swoopes-like swan song in a critical game where he becomes a legend in his program. Maybe he could have had a Cardale Jones- or Tee Martin-like opportunity where he came in and led the program to a national championship after sitting behind other players for years. He thinks he'll have a better opportunity elsewhere, so go forth, young man, and find a place where you can succeed. Best of luck to you.

Saban has a right and a reason to be disappointed in this, and it obviously bothers me way more than it should that the guy who might be the best college coach in history seems to be defined for so many people by his departure from the Dolphins.

Their defense dominated Stanford. Had like 7 sacks.

Then in the fourth qtr I believe the literally ate up 10 min of the qtr on one drive which they scored on as well. Pretty dominant performance.

More interesting was the stat for Mcaffrey at away games. Apparently he is super mediocre in away games, including last night, and all his great performances have come at home.

Well there is the problem what QB's go to Bama or most teams in the SEC to get ready for the NFL? The SEC sucks at QB development.
