Malzahn is a safe bet. If they don't keep winning, he'll be gone.
I want the Hokies to be ranked too... after they beat UNC, Syracuse, Miami, and Pitt. Not after they beat ECU, BC and Liberty.
I will not start donating to the Hokie Club until ECU is off the schedule.
Also, firing PJ means the next coach likely has a new offense. All of the players on that offense are hand picked and built to run that offense. If a guy comes in with a spread offense, how many seasons will it take him to get the right guys in for that system?? That could be a consideration in Atlanta.

I see your point. Hokie fans should definitely be feeling good right now. The Hokies over the last couple of years have squandered games against ECU, and last year's BC game would have looked like a total squeaker if not for the defensive TD. This year they did what they're supposed to do. They put away mediocre competition early, and convincingly. Pretty exciting stuff for those of us who know the Hokies well. Still though, to vault the Hokies into the Top 25 at this point is still somewhat a leap of faith. Let's see what they do on the road against some decent ACC teams.

You bring up good points. Yes, Wisconsin fans should be very happy with what has happened so far this year, no doubt. But I think by the end of the year, both LSU and Michigan St will end up unranked. LSU is already there, receiving votes below VT.
As far as the Wisconsin QBs, I never knew any of them to have any level of success in the NFL, mostly due to their lack of notoriety in the league. I'll take your word on them as much as I'd expect anyone to take my word on PSU players (which is to say there is sufficient evidence to suggest that you know them better than I), but to suggest that those guys were successful at anything other than holding a clipboard is a bit of an overreach, I think.
As far as their eventual Big Ten ranking, I put them behind Mich, OSU, Neb, and PSU, at least. I do think the new offense at PSU will come together well enough to be a better team than Wisconsin (but since they don't play each other, it'll be an eyeball-test evaluation). 5th is where I'd slot them right now.
I think they'll lose to OSU, Mich, and Neb before Halloween, which would put them out of the top 25 at 5-3 with multiple losses in a row, with the interim game at Iowa being their only winning weekend (which, I think, is up in the air until I get a better bead on Iowa). After that, there is not a credible win on their schedule and should only be able to work their way up to 20-25 in the rankings (if and only if they go undefeated against NWern, Illinois, Purdon't and Minnesota), while everyone else's back-loaded schedule vaults them over the Badgers.
Excellent points, though, even though I disagree. If you're a Wisconsin fan you should rightly be happy now but I wouldn't hold out too much hope for a division championship since Neb misses Mich but gets OSU.
It's probably nothing nefarious. The person in charge got a degree from them and, well, can't actually read so they double posted by accident.
Except ECU has actually beaten us in the last 12 years.
If you take care of business on gameday, all the rest (rankings/highlights/college gameday/etc...) follows.
You can argue which 1-loss team is better than the others, etc... Happens every year.
But that argument gets a lot easier with nothing but W's.

I think they've waited with Helton just because they didn't want to be the first major program to fire their head coach this year. I think he's gone after the next loss, if not sooner.
