Sometimes I wonder how old the bottle of Coke that sits on Saban's podium is... Cause I'm betting they just leave the same one there all the time.
Nah, he's fine for at least another season or 2. I haven't begun to hear any murmurings about the peons here in Raleigh being unhappy with that ship, and I think they realize the situation they're in with FSU, Clemson, and UofL on the schedule. They're still looking long term, which for them is a bit surprising.
He was but this wasn't meant to be an all-time list. Just a look at head coaches with their current jobs jumping from one P5 school to another.
Technically Bronco Mendenhall doesn't fit since BYU isn't P5 and Charlie Strong might not since Louisville was in the AAC the year he left but I figured they are close enough. Even including those guys it's only 8 out of 64 coaches hired away from one P5 to another.
Primetime is sexy.
If FSU loses, that's two conference losses. They're effectively out of it. Especially if Louisville bests klempsun.
If UNC wins, they're undefeated in conference. Defending division champs looking for a repeat vs a resurgent Hokies squad.
Unsavory dealings at UNC?

DAMN US DEDICATED FANS!
/s duh...we awesome.
No, I'm talking the exact same seats. Earlier today I was looking at a grouping of about 11 or 12 tickets in 211 Row S or T... Through GoHeels, that entire row is available for purchase.
I mean not really, they dominated every facet of the game even with a backup kicker (starter slipped a disk in his back) if you look at the statistics sure but michigan state also racked up about 150 yards of offense after the backups were put in. Look at the drive summaries for the first 3 quarters. Its not pretty for MSU. Likewise you could make the same case for the LSU game, there was never a doubt in my mind that wisconsin would lose that game, they OWNED it but the scored doesnt indicate that at all
Or...
The faculty are selling their tickets for profit.
Hmmmm... I first, I though this was shady as hell, to take advantage of the Faculty/Staff promotion like that...
Then I noticed those seats line up directly with the dozens and dozens of tickets that are on sale through Stubhub right now. They're double dipping, and setting 2 prices!
I bet he smells like corn dogs.
This is perhaps a better summation of my argument. The series with ECU only became the albatross around our necks that we purport it to be when ECU became competitive in it.
I understand the argument that we'd be better served with a stronger opponent, or the desire for more variety among non-conference foes. But no P5 team team plays all P5 opponents in their non-conference games. You need those tuneups to get right on the field without risking a loss. And from a scheduling standpoint, relying on only home and homes or neutral site one-offs to round out your schedule is a nightmare. You need the stability of long-term series. We had that with the annual LOLUVA game when we were in the Big East. In a lot of ways, the ECU game just replaced that.
CJF is the one who started the up-tempo, fast paced speed at Jimmy John's.
It's been postulated on here before that our sexiness is what gets us 12-12:30...the Mouse knows we'll tune in no matter what.
That game was actually a lot closer than the score showed though.
I also really like Malzahn, but I'm also not the typical GED toting Auburn fan. His seat is safe as long as they beat Bama once every 4 years.
Doesn't matter what we're ranked, if we're putting up 50 against everyone, NOBODY is going to want to play us.
If it's like every other time I've been to Chapel Hill, it'll be a nooner.
Also....you can get UNC tickets for $25 EACH. Go to http://goheels.com/tickets and click on Promotions..then use "FACULTY" for the code. Let's fill it up.
Next P5 firing is Helton the day after they lose to UCLA and are eliminated from bowl contention.
I swear I've seen Pac-12 and WAC games kick off at noon before, or 9am their time. Always kills me when GameDay heads out west, and they sign onto the show at 6am local time. Yuck!
BTW, I know a lot of Hokies fans who complain mightily about noon games. How would you like to be those poor schlubs at Kansas or Minnesota? 11:00am kickoff? No thanks!
Nothing, and I mean almost nothing, is better than spring gobbler. Nothing like a bird thundering off the roost.
There's also a tailgate being set up through the Alumni Association for both games. For the UNC game, we'll be meeting at the Friday Center lot, and having a more informal gathering. No purchase necessary, just BYOB, look for the Alumni Association banners. There should be a shuttle to the game, and we'll be out there 4 hours before the game.
For the Duke game, we'll have a big function, with proceeds going toward a scholarship for a local student (out of state tuition for these kids, so the scholarship certainly helps). It is all you can eat, all you can drink tailgating with your fellow Hokies for 3 hours prior to kickoff. You can buy your tickets at the following location: Trianglehokies.org
Prices are as follows:
Adult buffet w/ game ticket: $75
Adult buffet only: $45
Child buffet w/ game ticket: $40
Child buffet only: $30
For the game in 2014, we had a bunch of people from the Athletic Department come and stop by and mingle, including Whit Babcock, Desiree Reed-Francois, and Kevin Jones. We also had an appearance from the cheerleaders and the Hokie Bird for all children. I know the price may be high compared to what you can get on Stubhub, but it does go to a good cause, and it has been a great event every year we've been out there.
You know I'm always on here, so just let me know if you have questions, and I'll answer as best as I can.

Wait, so you're telling me he opened the press conference with a statement about a player he never coached, who last played for us 10 years ago, who just got lost to injury for the season in the NFL? Holy hell, this guy gets it so hard they might have to start censoring his image on TV.
