The "buy in" comment is interesting. Coach Beamer always preached to never let the highs get too high, and the lows get too low.

I think our Hokies could have done well to remember that last night at the end of the 1st qtr.

Pro - this team has a high ceiling. Higher than we've seen in 4 seasons.

Con - The team is emotionally immature. Including veteran guys that should be more grown up. They need to learn resolve, coolheaded-ness, how to fight thru adversity (like repeated bad calls), composure, and how to maintain a killer instinct without over amping. I'm convinced the fumbles were due to lack of emotional self control. It's okay to be fired up, but you need to keep your wits about you and not forget basics (ball security, focusing on your assignment ) I'm sure have been drilled into them since peewee league.

They were impatient and sacrificed good fundamentals as a result. I love the energy they came out with. Now they need to develop patience and resolve.

If they learn to keep high emotionally while also having composure and mental toughness, we're a contender for the Coastal.

I have Cam and Tyrod as my two starting QBs, and Flacco as my backup. I'm currently in a dogfight that I'll probably lose with tomorrow's games. Flacco would have put me 10 points ahead of where I am now, and probably a comfortable lead.

So, I started going backwards on the Hokiesports schedules. Obviously, anything from the last four years is out. In 2011, we lost the big games against Clemson.

Agreed. If they'd bring back a modified version of that jersey with maroon base with Hokie Stone numbers and accents. You'd also need to make the shirt the same pattern as the pants, but i think that jersey would've been awesome.

Pro - Hokies played "Hard" and several individuals outplayed their UT counterparts. Rogers, Bucky, Ford, Ekanem, ...

Neg - Hokies again did not play "Smart" or "Tough", clearly with the dumb penalties and soft handle on the ball.

The good thing for the future is that the Negatives can be fixed. It doesn't appear structural or scheme related. It really is up to the players to step up.

Our experience at BMS, was good overall, except for the play of the hokies. We had a little delay getting into Earhardt West, but, had a great tailgate spot. The events around the stadium were fun and I found the people working helpful, including getting out. It took about an hour to get back to 81, but, we were back at our cabin at Hungry Mothers State Park by 2am. Not bad given 156000 people. Hell, the Redskins can't handle 78,000.

Yeah, the game was about 75% Vol fans. Any surprise really. Still the Hokie Fans were really loud until the Hokies started dropping the pigskin all over the place. I don't know about the water complaints, we had no trouble getting water in the David Pearson section.

I do agree with the lack of replays on the big screen. I'm not sure that was BMS as much as the production guys in the ESPN trucks. I was just watching the replay tonight and they didn't show replays much, including some of the questionable calls. This is typical of ESPN crappy production. Both teams were running hurry up and they had trouble staying with the plays.

All that said, the Hokies cannot expect to beat anyone good if they keep dropping the ball and committing stupid penalties. They played Hard, but, not Smart or Tough. Except for the results, our group of 10 had a great time. Now, here's hoping the coaches can clean up the team's play for BC next week.

I had a damn pole blocking my whole view of the 40 to the other 40 yard line. So yes I relied on the screen a lot. Very very angry they didn't replay any of the plays with questionable calls.

I agree about the center. Typically, you'll have the center in for the entire game. But I'm perfectly fine with rotating people in around the center frequently, especially with the way Fuente designs his run game. You don't have to have textbook perfect blocking for his run scheme to work. It's more important to have fresh legs along the line than perfect line chemistry in this scheme.

It was actually pretty funny. There was a very loud and distinguishable booing from our entire section after the drawing and I can only assume that happened throughout the stadium because it was pretty loud.
