Nice write-up, thanks for the time you put in.
I have never really been able to figure Conte out. He has several games a year where is feet go dead on contact and then he will have several games in a row where that doesn't look like an issue for him... only to again revert back. Nijman looks like he will be fine in pass pro but he also had issues similar to Conte in the running game.
A lot of our issues on perimeter blocking were from not attacking hard enough and/or being too soft on initial contact this mainly from Hodges, McMillian and Cunningham. For People's it was the exact opposite, he was actually trying too hard to make good impact and his body was getting too far out in front of his feet and would cause him to fall forward and let them disengage. He was attacking and making great initial contact which is something I still prefer to see over the aforementioned players. He is still somebody I trust and I think we will see a massive improvement from him going into week 2.
both of you make a high stakes bet on your respective team losing. That helps avoid some of the bitterness when you lose. For instance, if VT wins, you owe your wife a dinner at a 5-star place you would otherwise never step foot in. That way she can at least look forward to that while you're enjoying the win.
I'm even wondering about his time on the practice squad. He was on the Dolphins Practice Squad for most of last year (elevated with a game or two left in the season). Now he's on the Giants practice squad this year. If he spends the whole season there, at most he has one more year before he has to make an NFL roster from here on out. Just not sure if he spent any time on the Card's PS.
F*k

Shai next week. Good luck UT

Thanks. CBS station up there is saying he might be on IR for entire season. Ugh.
Remember the good ol' days when we were just one block from breaking it for a big run?
I believe that was every bit as much "coachspeak" as it was true. Blocking on the o-line and at skill positions hasn't been all bad but both have certainly had their struggles in recent years, many times simultaneously.
No, he and Giants did an "injury settlement" he gets some money and can sign with someone else whenever he wants/is healed.
What if they land on the 1 yard line???
OH DAMMIT
*sigh*... I saw all the other posts, thought I was in the clear.... didn't think it could be the one right before mine
I'm not saying you gotta switch trains. Just serving up a warning.
New practice squad rules:

Would have to count games Logan was on active roster but I'm assuming he is getting close.
Agreed. Seemed like he was used in the situation where we needed to convert the 4th down and gain back momentum (and the lead) to keep Liberty from believing for too long. I'd expect him to have more freedom to run this week.
DRINK! Which is especially impressive given that it was the comment right above yours...

Yes Bud has been around for a long time but one of the main reasons he is still around and sustained success is that Bud's defense has changed over the years to adapt to new offensive schemes. So while there probably is footage reflecting how Bud could game plan against UT, there is limited time to prepare a college team in a week and the UT coaching staff has to take their best guess on what that will be and effectively coach their players on it.
I actually like how aggressively they have changed the rankings. Although given the way they moved other teams around keeping Clemson 2 seems a little inconsistent with the rest of the movements, but they probably deserve to stay 2 and Dabo would would raise hell about them being disrespected.
In the past Tennessee probably would have moved up just because they won and those below them lost. Also Texas is definitely a bandwagon but they looked good against what is likely a solid ND team. If nothing else, Kizer is a really good QB. Wisconsin's ranking will even out when they inevitably lose.

If you ever wondered whether the AP poll liked bandwagons, check out Texas and Wisky at 10 & 11 after being unranked.
I mean, yeah, you should probably rank them somewhere with wins over pre-season top-ten teams, but how about giving it a couple weeks working up the chart to prove they or their opponents were that good before putting them right into the championship conversation?
Nope.
This is another example how inaccurate pre-season polls are, and also of how the media in general is a poor source for just about any breaking story. Gotta get out there with the most exclamation points before your competition uses them all.
If you're on your computer and using Chrome, Right Click and open image in a new tab, and then copy/paste that URL. For imgur you might have to do that twice, but eventually it'll work.
Is this the last year he's eligible for the practice squad?
Might be the end of the line for him if he can't drastically improve his game over this season.

This is absolutely correct.
ND is given higher standing over BYU, Army, and UMass.
